Eric Zauch from Nintendo Everything voices his opinion on the overwhelming number of ports arriving on the Switch and lack of genuinely new games, AAA games or indie releases alike.
Biomutant comes to the Nintendo Switch. A decent port, but nothing groundbreaking.
"The Vilnius-based (Lithuania) indie games publisher Nordcurrent Labs and Bayreuth-based (Germany) indie games developer Emergo Entertainment, are today veyy happy and proud to announce that their cozy hiking adventure "Fireside", is coming to PC (via Steam) and the Nintendo Switch (via the Nintendo Eshop) on June 4th, 2024." - Jonas Ek, TGG.
Just how shock-ing is it?
"overwhelming number of ports arriving on the Switch and lack of genuinely new games, AAA games or indie releases alike" <--- Wow somebody had the guts to say the true facts of that toy... I mean Switch sorry.
Since when is porting a large amount of games to any platform a bad thing?
“This dilemma has become even more apparent as we enter the age of “ports”.””
Games have always been frequently ported for generations. This is not some new phenomenon.
I say support the Switch so that more developers can create brand new IP's. In response to ports, I agree this year leading into next is heavy with ports. On the other hand, many of the ports were brand new to me, so I look forward to them.
In terms of indie's no the Switch is the perfect machine for indie developers to make games for but AAA? absolutely no.
Sure games from the previous gens are fine but current gen games on PS4/XB1 should never be ported to the Switch, the hybrid simply lacks the power.
