"overwhelming number of ports arriving on the Switch and lack of genuinely new games, AAA games or indie releases alike" <--- Wow somebody had the guts to say the true facts of that toy... I mean Switch sorry.

anonymousfan2023d ago

well... I do own a Switch and I love it... and yup I have no problem saying what I feel :) but I was trying to quote the author of the video who's opinion I agree with very much !

wonderfulmonkeyman2023d ago

All consoles are inherently toys, kiddo.
Hating Nintendo doesn't make you special.

King_Noctis2022d ago (Edited 2022d ago )

Are you saying the PS4/X1 had no port during their second year on the market? By the way, most of those ports are brand new to alot of people that have never owned a Wii U, including myself.

And no need to sorry, we know you like to troll on every Nintendo article, Fox.

Literal_Cringe2022d ago

Could say the same for literally any of the console's available now in their first 3 years, I never heard anyone complain about the ports the PS4 and Xbox One got by the truckload, how come those get a free pass? It makes more sense on the Switch since at least that's portable.

Since when is porting a large amount of games to any platform a bad thing?

CyberSentinel2023d ago

It’s getting expensive, that’s when!
Seriously, I need help.

Portable D3, Woot!

anonymousfan2023d ago

I agree with you it's a genuinely good thing! Although it's hard to keep track with... I think the issue is the lack of quality brand new and original games in contrast to ports. But that's just my two cents ;).

FallenAngel19842023d ago

@ anon

Would people rather have nothing at all? A port never replaces the work that goes into producing a new game.

execution172022d ago

I think it's a bad thing when they release old ports as full priced game's 🙄 I'm not one to spend $90+ cnd for an older title where I can get it cheaper on another system

Zeldafan642022d ago

Porting a lot of Wii U games to the Switch isn't the problem to me. It's the price of some of these ports that's the issue. Some I think should be charged full price since they didn't sell very well initially while others shouldn't.

“This dilemma has become even more apparent as we enter the age of “ports”.””

Games have always been frequently ported for generations. This is not some new phenomenon.

Automatic792022d ago

I say support the Switch so that more developers can create brand new IP's. In response to ports, I agree this year leading into next is heavy with ports. On the other hand, many of the ports were brand new to me, so I look forward to them.

AK912022d ago

In terms of indie's no the Switch is the perfect machine for indie developers to make games for but AAA? absolutely no.

Sure games from the previous gens are fine but current gen games on PS4/XB1 should never be ported to the Switch, the hybrid simply lacks the power.
