Silent Hill 4: The Room—released in 2004 for PlayStation 2 and the Xbox—is the best Silent Hill game after the second one and one of the most original horror games ever developed. If SH4 hadn’t been part of the Silent Hill series, it’d probably be considered one of the most unique games in the genre

I mostly disagree with Downpour's position. Yeah, the game is not amazing by any stretch of the imagination but is much better than the HD Collection and Homecoming. The main issue is the performance, but that was mitigated by the patches, especially on the PS3. Personally, I put it a little behind Origins and The Room.
Having Restless Dreams as a different entry from Silent Hill 2 is also a choice.
Normally, we would not consider it a different game (Restless Dreams), but since it had a very different critical reception and had new content, it was allowed. As for Downpour, I would agree, but since that one is subjective, we let him make his case for the placement.
silent hill 2 is definitely the best one out of those.
for me personally, the whole ritual/cult stuff was always so weird to me in all the other games.
No disrespect but I put SH2 over 1. 1 is fantastic, but 2 took it all up a level.

for metaphysical/paranormal horror games i will totally agree, SH4 is the best thing ever created in this category.....(Kojima had borrowed tons of elements from SH4 to create the famous PT project).....though i ill say in Sci-fi horror games with a touch in reality ..original RE 1 is the king and cant be dethroned
The Room was way ahead of its time. I'm glad people are looking bad and realizing it had a lot going for it. I believe this game has such a bad rap because people can't help but compare it to the other Silent Hill games instead of appreciating what it was trying to do.
I disagree. I think silent hill 2 is the best survival horror game ever made. I also think it’s better than every single resident evil game. To each his own, but I’ve always thought the resident evil series was mediocre at best. The combat is terrible in resident evil games not to mention the camera and the stopping to shoot mechanic. Just awful in my opinion.
Ufff, no, 1,2 and 3 are really good.
