1UP: Puzzle Quest: Galactrix Hands-On Preview

The game mechanics are similar to the classic match-3-colors concept, but instead of a Tetris-esque top-down affair, you've got colored shapes coming from all sides on a big hex. Anyone who's played the original Puzzle Quest should be able to figure out Galactrix in 5 minutes (it'll take 10 minutes if you've never played the series before). As in the first game, the player builds their energy reserves by matching the appropriate colors together so that they can use their abilities to attack the enemy, restore their shields, rearrange the board, and such. Space mines appear on the board, allowing the player to directly attack the opponent by matching three of them up.
