Valkyria Chronicles "almost worth buying a PS3 for" - Gameplayer Review

Gameplayer has gone live with one of the first reviews for PS3 exclusive Valkyria Chronicles which they declare an excellent buy for strategy enthusiasts.

You're taking it the wrong way. I think it's more of a "This game alone is enough to merit the purchase of a PS3 if you don't already have one." As in, it's really good, good enough that it's worth $550 on its own.

It'll just be like Gears of Snore, my first game, and part two that I recently released with a ton of glitches, boring story, underwhelming online play, generic plot and predictable outcomes!

Take a look at Metacritic for both LBP and MGS4. Look at the list of reviews. See the 100 scores? Those are 10s.

If he was saying they were 100% games, he would have said '100% games'. And you referred to they're score as '9.4, 9.5' not '94%, 95%' ect. True, that's what he may of meant, but from what was implied and what we know to be true, it's unlikely. Why make a claim that everyone knows isn't true?

I didn't like the gameplay at all and the english voice overs killed the feeling totaly.

The graphics wheren't that bad imo. They enhanced the rpg feeling. And the story overall was to die for, very epic.

I downloaded the demo and actually liked it. I don't really care for RPG games normally. If I had one complaint it would be that it was a little too easy.

the demo was great. i'm buying it the first day.

the graphics are the product of the art style from a new engine. its supposed to look like a story book.

i dont know about comments like worth buying a ps3 for. but if you have a ps3 and like rpg's this is a must buy.

also the game has been out in japan since last spring. it got great reviews there already.

Just because it's turn-based doesn't make it strategic. It feels like a simple real-time 5hr game stretched out by archaic rpg mechanics.

Another over rated game like Lost Odyssey that doesn't deliver graphically nor gameplay wise

I still stand by my claim that Fable II is this years Mass Effect: Over hyped, glitchy mess that needed another year in production

I played the demo last night. I was more impressed than I ever thought I would be. The strategy element is awesome but the art design and atmosphere of the game really stunned me. This is most certainly number 3 on my holiday games list. It may not be his cup of tea but its a great solid game from what Ive already seen.

Also I spent about 30 hours with Fable II an thought it was alright an eight maybe eight point five. So don't assume just because someone doesn't own both consoles means they can't play each consoles respective games that they desire to try out. An don't assume that having both consoles makes you unbiased or you opinion more valid.
