PC Invasion: 2K asks fans of NBA 2K19 to contact their representatives and lawmakers in Belgium if they feel that the game's loot boxes -- card packs for MyTEAM -- are not in violation of gambling laws. They also check out other games which have been mired in the same types of controversies in past years.
Sports games were not lacking on the Nintendo Switch, featuring a diverse collection of games that could appeal to both casual and hardcore gamers.
From GI.biz: "Take-Two interactive is facing a class-action lawsuit over its use of loot boxes in the best-selling NBA 2K games.
Bloomberg reports the suit was filed on behalf of a minor and their guardian at the Winnebago Country Circuit Court in January, before being moved to the Illinois Northern District Court last month.
The complainant says that loot boxes "psychologically distance" players from the true financial impact of such purchases, noting that -- in the case of minors -- these are often paid for by a parent's credit card."
Amazon has discounted the physical version of NBA 2K19 to just $4.99 on the PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
What 2K is asking for is "Dear Belgian gamers, please tell your government how you liked being fvcked in the ass by our microtransactions so we can continue to do so. We need your support to make this happen."
Just die already 2K, I want someone else to get the WWE franchise anyway since you guys have never made a good wrestling game to date.
This is brilliant, now publishers want gamers to go to the government and tell them how they like being milked? I take it this means things like Ultimate Team are also considered gambling and banned in Belgium? Imagine if more countries took their stance, EA would be sweating an ocean.
This will eventually come to casuals, awareness that micro transactions are for sheep.
