Well this is awkward. There's a platform missing here.
I say release it, this game is already a success on the PS4, it makes good business sense to get in on that PSVR fanbase money.

Jinger2135d ago

Will that fanbase now support it though after the backlash PS4 fans gave them when they went MS exclusive?

robleroy2135d ago

Ofcourse they would !! Do you care who makes a game when you buy it because of good grades??

VenomUK2135d ago

When most publishers slammed the door on Ninja Theory, Sony believed in them and made Hellblade happen. Now that Microsoft own the IP it’s doubtful this will come to PSVR.

rainslacker2135d ago

I'd play a psvr version of It. Would probably be pretty cool.

King_Noctis2135d ago

@Venom

What do you mean? Sony didn’t fund Hellblade.

Gh05t2135d ago

"Unfortunately, the mode won’t be available on PlayStation VR, but that isn’t very surprising, considering that Ninja Theory recommends a GTX 1080 graphics card as a requirement for your rig running the game in virtual reality."

Or maybe it just didnt work on PSVR to the level they wanted.

robleroy2135d ago

Ninja theory is now owned by MS. They will never release something for ps anymore.
Duuuuh. That is normal.

Jinger2135d ago

@robleroy

Well that isn't true. PS4 still has Minecraft, right?

Weeblordbad2135d ago

The disagrees on this is absolutely delicious insecurity. The PS4 CANNOT run this it's simply not possible with the hardware especially if they're recommending a GTX 1080. But don't be sad PlayStation guys, if Xbox had a VR headset it would be the same deal there the Xbox/One X can't run Hellblade in VR either.

crazyCoconuts2135d ago

Yea, the 1080 recommendation suggests they didn't spend tons of time to dumb the graphics down to what you'd need to run it on a PS4. 1080s are beasts compared to the GPUs in consoles. Oh well. When does that PS5 come out?

P_Bomb2133d ago

@jinget
PS4 had Minecraft before MS bought it. What it still doesn’t have, are the life aquatic updates that Xbox One has been getting first.

Kerplunk802135d ago

Because the psvr has crap tracking??? PC is way better with vr which is why it's on here.

rob-GP2135d ago

Nothing wrong with the PSVR tracking... Sure, if you move your move controllers behind you then it gets a bit iffy, but you just face the camera and it's all fine...

crazyCoconuts2135d ago

Yea tracking isn't the issue. PSVR's tracking isn't THAT bad, btw, unless you're a stickler for perfection.

Scatpants2135d ago

This game doesn't look like it would require robust tracking. The tracking part looks like something the PSVR could handle in this one. Forward facing, probably controller based rather than motion controls.

robleroy2135d ago

You probably missed the news that MS bought Ninja theory...

gamer78042135d ago (Edited 2135d ago )

They are now a Microsoft studio though, and this was published independently and not by Sony. So the chances of Microsoft making a version that can only be played on a playstation platform and not xbox are not even slim, but none even if the psvr was capable of playing the game.

Abriael2135d ago (Edited 2135d ago )

The platform missing there is because this requires a GTX 1080, with which a PS4 Pro isn't on the same planet, let alone a standard PS4.

gamesndames2135d ago

Huh? Based off of many people on here it seems like PS4 owners have bomb ass PC's already. Just get it on Steam like they do with every Xbox exclusive.

crazyCoconuts2135d ago

Never bought a Rift for my bomb ass PC since I already had PSVR. But thanks for that constructive suggestion.

Scatpants2135d ago

You should get a Rift. Echo VR and Beat Saber will blow your mind.

rainslacker2135d ago

Well....considering that ms now owns ninja theory, I don't see a psvr version coming.

Ms may have been all about promoting vr for x1x, but they have no interest in furthering vr adoption unless people use their currently inadequate DX tools for it.

Kribwalker2135d ago

why would you think their DX tools are inadequate for VR?

rainslacker2134d ago

Because currently they are. They're just kind of premature at the moment. They haven't really been out that long, and I'm not even sure that they're out of beta versions yet. I'm sure they'll get better over time. There are a couple nice features in there though that aren't available in other API's, but outside one, they tend to be something for the engine level development which a lot of devs don't dive too deep into.

Einhander19712135d ago

The psvr probably has a bigger install base than the competition so doesn't make sense. And the psvr doesn't have crap tracking, for the price it's amazing.

LightofDarkness2135d ago

The game runs at 30fps on the PS4. Imagine how much fidelity would be lost by having to render the same scene twice at double the framerate. Does it make sense now?

thexmanone2135d ago

Well let me make some sense for you. They are owned by MS now. Why would they put there game on a Sony platform?

BenRage32135d ago

Microsoft also owns minecraft and they allow that on other platforms so...I don't think that's necessarily it.

Scatpants2135d ago

It actually does have crap tracking, but it works well enough if you put the camera right in front of you on a tripod and play a game you don't have to move much in. Wipeout's probably my favorite to really get the best result out of PSVR.

Casepb2135d ago (Edited 2135d ago )

Cool deal it's free, I will check it out when it gets released. Oh wow they recommend a 1080. Hopefully my 1070 will manage.

porkChop2135d ago

As for why it's not appearing on PSVR, there could be a couple reasons.

1) The game might require 360 degree tracking, which isn't possible on PSVR.

2) The VR requires a GTX 1080 on PC. Even with optimization, it's possible that they just couldn't get it running at a stable framerate. The game wasn't originally built for VR and was already pushing the PS4s hardware pretty hard.

Moe-Gunz2135d ago

Hellblade is one of my favorite games this gen but I wouldn't say it was "pushing the hardware pretty hard". It didn't do that much to warrant that statement.

starchild2135d ago

It is one of the best looking games of the generation. How do you know how hard it was pushing the hardware?

King_Noctis2135d ago

Even if it didn’t push the hardware to the limit, it would still be very difficult to render this game in PS VR with all the visuals in tact.

Moe-Gunz2134d ago (Edited 2134d ago )

It looks good but technically I wouldn't say it's on the same level of Uncharted 4, Horizon, God of War, or Detroit.

I agree it would be hard to render in VR. I just don't feel like it's a game that's pushing the PS4 to its limit when you have the games I mentioned doing way more. I think that statement is unwarranted.

Lynx02072135d ago

And it is free for anyone who has Hellblade already... Just look at Doom, Skyrim and Fallout. It is just crazy.

Waiting to see what the "Recommended" spec be like!

Skuletor27d ago

Waiting to see if "Minimum" spec targets 30fps 😂

PassNextquestion27d ago

It's my understanding that the frame rate is unlocked on the pc version

Skuletor26d ago

@PassNextquestion
I've seen Ubisoft have PC specs that have targeted 30fps before.

PassNextquestion27d ago (Edited 27d ago )

Why the heck do you need Windows 11 to run the game? I remember there was a ssd feature locked to windows 11 not sure if that's still the case and if that's the reason.. direct storage I believe it is called

DivineHand12527d ago

If those are the minimum specs on PC then why can't the series x do more than 30 fps? Did they intentionally lock it to 30 fps when higher frame rates are possible?

PassNextquestion26d ago

Maybe they didn't want to compromise on the graphics

DarXyde26d ago

Very probable, but I can't really believe that when literally, the Series S ensures that they do.

I kind of think they just want to make it 30fps now to make an update later to keep people "on the hook" or give game pass subs something to look forward to with this game later on.

Personally, I think this game can push at least 45fps, but that's just my opinion. I don't really see a game this short being announced before TLOU2 launched, only to come out *now* and they haven't gotten those frames up.

RedDeadLB26d ago

Probably because they wanted better fidelity and that is probably too demanding for the XSX to push a stable 60fps on. Judging how most games are these days, the performance difference between low to high is sometimes not enough to target double the framerate. A locked, smooth 30fps i better than an unstable 60, even though it feels like picking between two turds.
