Switch is getting the big guns, only a matter of time before the rest follow

"It has been about a year and three months since the Nintendo Switch has launched, and the console-handheld hybrid has received some incredible support from a slew of developers. Many developers and publishers were (seemingly) waiting for the Switch to prove its viability in the market, in fear of another Wii U blunder. Luckily, Nintendo sold 4.8 million units in the U.S. between March 2017 and January 2018, outpacing the phenomenon that was the Wii, which sold 4 million units in the same time frame. Now, the Nintendo Switch is a beloved console by millions of gamers across the globe, and more game makers are taking notice." -- Nintendo Enthusiast

Maybe too many five year old games that everyone has played to death.

michellelynn09762134d ago (Edited 2134d ago )

Like the ps4 had in it's first two years.

bluefox7552134d ago (Edited 2134d ago )

@michelle except that ps4 also had real AAA third party support.

DarkVoyager2133d ago (Edited 2133d ago )

“Maybe too many five year old games that everyone has played to death.“

I don’t care for shovelware games but I love Nintendo’s 1st party games and I’m super excited for Octopath Traverler and Super Smah Bros. I’m also pretty excited for Captain Toad Treasure Tracker after playing the demo on Switch.

I have a PS4 for 3rd party games and their amazing 1st party lineup.

Aceman182133d ago

Even if they got some of these big games I personally wouldn't want to play them on my switch just wouldn't be worth it for me. Rather play them in higher quality.

Bahamut2133d ago (Edited 2133d ago )

Sooo glad I got a Switch so I can play Octopath Traveler. Closest thing to real Final Fantasy since maybe 10, but feels more like FFVI. Can't wait.

Too many shovelware indy titles maybe, but VERY FEW quality AAA games.
Once again, pretty much all my games for a Nintendo system are Nintendo first party titles.
This is fine with me, as that's why I bought a Switch, but you've got your hand on it if you believe the Switch is much different to the Wii in terms of quality 3rd party support.

michellelynn09762134d ago (Edited 2134d ago )

Shovelware indie games? Golf Story, Hallow Knights, Mario Rabbids Travis Strikes Again and Octopath Travler say hi.

The_Jackel2134d ago

oh we're sorry @michelle but if you want to play that game all these games say hi,
earthfall
The Banner Saga Trilogy
madden 19
we happy few (no longer 3rd party after this game)
mothergunship
shenmue 1n2
Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor Martyr
f1 2018
Strange Brigade
Yakuza Kiwami 2
pes 2019
Genesis Alpha One
Immortal Unchained
shadow of the tomb raider
nhl 19
spyro ( thats a good one as crash is on switch but they aint bothering with spyro)
Assassin's Creed: Odyssey
Mega Man 11
call of duty bo4
battlefield v
SoulCalibur VI
red dead redemption 2
hitman 2
fallout 76
just cause 4

im prettu sure NONE of them are coming to switch making the 3rd party support as crap as the wiiu.
only reason i have a switch is also for the exclusives, why coz 3rd party support sucks with nintendo

Prince_TFK2133d ago (Edited 2133d ago )

@Jackel

You might want to check again. The Banner Saga has already been released on the Switch. You might have already known this if you really own a Switch.

Monster_Tard2133d ago

The_Jackel

Banner Saga Trilogy & Mega Man 11 are coming to the Switch.

The_Jackel2133d ago (Edited 2133d ago )

might have to check them again. i just went though list of up coming games. not already released. my bad on that 1 or 2 games still take them off list and shows lack of 3rd party. not saying none will come to thw switch as they possibly might but you would have thought spyro would have been a day 1 release
can always send you my friend code to prove if you really want. really doesnt bother me

Lol first half of 2018. was pretty bad for Switch, no wonder almost 5 years old PS4 outsold Switch last 4 months in US.

Fist4achin2134d ago

Get ready for it. Wallets will suffer!

Probably is a matter of time for quite a few titles whether anyone believes it or not.

I personally wish Nintendo the best, not just for competition's sake, but because they deserve a pat on the back (thus far) for having done so well launching as the underdog. I just hope they can keep their momentum.

Side note: I hope a Grand Theft Auto entry hits the Switch so the internet can break, because camps on both sides seem adamant it will/won't happen. Wonder if it would be as bad as the first glimpse of the Wii mote?

dsammy042134d ago

I love my switch and the portability of playing games on the go. I don't want my switch to be a port machine and getting sub par ports at that. I want my Nintendo Switch to inspire devs to make original third party content taking advantage of the switch hardware and portability. It's ok for the big three to have some of the same games like your fortnite and rocket league. But games like Resident Evil and Wolfenstein I think fair better to me, to me, I repeat to me on other consoles. Also if it will take a year plus before the switch port is available it makes sense to enjoy those games elsewhere. I'm happy it's available for people to enjoy them that don't have other consoles, but I would rather have other consoles be envious of the games for the switch and the features available other than it being portable. Give me great game makers of the DS and bring that ingenuity to the switch.

yomfweeee2134d ago

Switch isn't getting that many big games, don't kid yourself.

FlyingFoxy2134d ago

That's why if you have a good PC and a Switch you have pretty much all bases covered ;)

Glak182134d ago

I have a high end PC and a mobile phone, so I guess I got all the bases covered too.

Miss_Vixen2134d ago

PC, Switch, & PS4 then you'll have it covered. :P

CorndogBurglar2134d ago

PS4 has too many console exclusives for that statement to be even remotely true.

TheSaint2134d ago

Except for all those amazing Sony exclusives, sure.....

michellelynn09762134d ago

I agree. I am happy with my pc and Switch.

DrumBeat2134d ago (Edited 2134d ago )

I don't know, dude. Life would stink without my PlayStation exclusives. That's a huge chunk of quality you'd be ignoring there. I say "you'd" because I believe you own a PlayStation, and are trolling.

Basically like every other Nintendo console tried and true franchises little to no risk. Splatoon is like the only new ip from Nintendo in a decade

TekoIie2134d ago

Arms, Splatoon, Pushmo, BoxBoy, Code Name S.T.E.A.M, Ever Oasis, Wonderful 101, The Last Story, Xenoblade and Pandora's Tower say hi. Those are some of their most recent new IP's.

To correct your comment Splatoon is the only new IP to achieve the success that allows it to sit alongside their other big franchises like Mario, DK, Zelda, and Pokemon.

OzzY-waZZy2134d ago

What in the hell is a pushmo? Or a boxboy? Isn't code name steam an old Cartoon Network cartoon about kid spies?

Prince_TFK2133d ago (Edited 2133d ago )

@Tekolie

To add abit more, Daemon X Machina, 1-2 Switch, Captain Toad, and Octopath Traveller (made by Square but published by Nintendo) are also some of the new IPs on Nintendo platform.

But judging from the downvotes that you got, these people are in denial.

jukins2133d ago

@Tekolie most of the games you listed arent made by nintendo but simply published. i'll give you arms splatoon and xenoblade (and even this started while monolith was under namco ownership) but the rest are all published not created by nintendo. so I stick to my original statement. Basically its been mario and zelda kirby smash bros mario kart. and of those only mario and kirby arent ports. . .

TekoIie2132d ago (Edited 2132d ago )

@Jukins

"most of the games you listed arent made by nintendo but simply published."

Sorry but that wasn't your argument. You said no risks and only make games for their staple franchises and occasionally something new like Splatoon comes along. If Nintendo puts their money into the creation of a game then it is a Nintendo game (which also means they're risking their money). We didn't say Gears of War wasn't an MS IP, or that Insomniacs games like Resistance and R arent Sony IP's?

You're pushing a very silly standard and acting as though publishers have absolutely no input with the creation of a game. We know thats not true from Platinum Games and their partnerships with Nintendo, and we definitely know it's not true when it comes to EA.
