Fortnite Rocket Launches, Cracks The Sky

The rocket that has been counting down in Fortnite finally launched at 1:30 EDT today, and what happened afterward was a little weirder than anyone was expecting.

flat earth theory confirmed! :-O

I hope the battlebus flies through the crack into a new map for next season. With the fortune Epic is making its certainly doable and necessary if they want to keep the playerbase.

I don’t play fortnite. But I think it’s really good how this game keeps on doing stuff like this. Watching this I agree with you on the bus. I see it maybe right when people parachute out of the bus maybe everyone getting sucked up through the crack and landing on another planet or going back in time. Maybe something like the predators movie where the people land on a hunting ground for predators. Players hunt each other while being hunted. Or go back in time. Or the future.

I like how they keep adding events and changing things up, it really does do wonders for the longevity of the game compared to the likes of PUBG.

Developers/Publishers of Fortnite are focused on financial gain not the players and it is starting to show. The average player spends $85 on cosmetic add-ons...for a game with repetitive gameplay and ONE map. Yet people still play the game. Glad to see the sun is finally waning for this genre! Fortnite was good in the beginning but now it is repetitive and unbalanced.

KyRo2144d ago

Absolute nonsense. This is a studio that do two updates a week to their game though additional content, weekly challenges and LTM. The rocket launch yesterday was incredible too see and nothing like that has ever been done in a BR game. That ONE map is constantly evolving throughout each season. The game is now more balanced that ever and battleroyale is still growing in popularity.

Why does Epic charge ~$17.85 for a skin????? Do people really understand the cost of the cosmetic items? Don't forget the Battle Pass...more money spent there! There is NO reason for them to charge so much for the cosmetic skins. Yes, you aren't forced to buy the skins but that adds enjoyment and the only area of variety to the game. They have had some limited time game modes, but it is still the same core game. This is why Epic made over $300 MILLION in April (if tending continues that is about $3.6 BILLION per year). They will never lower the prices....they are making millions per DAY with gullible people that are spending $18 for ONE skin! And when they have had server or patch issues, they released free cosmetic items to compensate players for their inconvenience. What did we get, a boring backpack! Really???

Also, they aren't reinvesting in Fortnite...they are making minor edits to the game (tweaks to the only map, a gun here and there, and bug fixes - that is about it). Nothing substantial. Yes the map has evolved SOME but it is still the same map with a few tweaks. Most of the map updates were to address balance issues in the game. If another AAA developer/publisher released a game with only one map, they would be torn to pieces, but Fortnite doesn't get the same scrutiny??? I liked the game in the beginning but they kept adding weapons that were unbalanced (still think some weapons are still unbalanced). The cross play is unacceptable. Think about a Nintendo Switch, in mobile mode, competing against a high end PC player. with a K/M? How about iOS or Android devices against a PC player? They are at a huge disadvantage - which is seen in the flat financial numbers for mobile platforms! How about adding an in-game option (player controlled) to only play with players on the same platform? They haven't done it and won't. Also the developer has come and said they have absolutely no interest in releasing a new map. Why should they, the players keep spending their money on existing content. I could go on and on with the issues.

It will be interesting to see what COD and Battlefield V Battle Royale modes do to the financial and player counts for Fortnite. Time will tell.

I am sure people will give this post negative votes because they can't face the reality about this game and how the developer and publishers are not supporting their customers want for more variety. Plain and simple this game lacks variety.

You know that you earn v bucks over the course of the battle pass and the next season would more than be paid for, right? Or that they do run regular sales on cosmetic items and battle tier levels, right? Or that they're miles above the likes of PUBG when it comes to listening to fans regarding rebalancing, right? Or that this game you say lacks variety at one point allowed players to wear the infinity gauntlet as Thanos? Didn't think so, hence the down votes.

Its a FREE game. Everyone has been given it for absolutely nothing. Skins being £15 is steep for some but when its cosmetic only, why does it matter what people want to spend their money on if it holds no advantage to gameplay? That don't make them gullible. There are other F2P games out there which are pay to win, hell there are even AAA games with pay to win mechanics (Destiny, COD, GTAO, BF2, FIFA etc) which make Fortnites skins look cheap in comparison. The £9 battle pass is a great way to keep people grinding for extra cosmetics and even pay for your next battlepass through earning V bucks. It's one of the best passes for the price out there in gaming.

As for earnings and reinvesting, it's obvious Epic are not going to put all that money back into Fortnite, they are a business but you can tell a boat load of money is still going into the game. It's one of the most popular games in the world right now and servers ain't cheap run, time and resources the developers take to make these new changes, skins, LTM's, balances, gameplay etc.

The changes to the map and items may be not chunky but they doing this weekly... WEEKLY. They could go down the route like other companies and release a chunk of DLC every 3 months but then people would get bored after a month. You say if any other AAA developer put out a game with one map they'd be torn to pieces but this map constantly evolves. The map from season 2 to season 4 is completely different and whilst it still has some of the same landmarks the game plays totally different because of it.

You can chnage the settings so you can play with your own platform or with others. I've played on PS4 with PC users and got my arse handed to me but it's an option if you want it.

COD and BFV will take some of fortnites crowd for a while but they will no doubt be back. Remember when H1Z1 came out and everyone said Fortnites going to die... yeah that didn't happen in the slightest. Even PUBG has lost more than half of its player base whilst Fortnite continues to grow.

antz11042144d ago

Lol everything you just said is wrong.

PurpHerbison2144d ago

This doesn't make any sense at all. Look, I understand it is easy to hate on the popular stuff but Fortnite has really done no wrong here. The game is free and you don't gain advantages from cosmetics. I step away from the game for just 1 week and it has already been updated 3+ times. The whole reason they are even making money like this is because they are focused on the players.
