Yes, Todd Howard and team have settled on The Elder Scrolls 6's region

EG:

When Todd Howard announced The Elder Scrolls 6 at the end of Bethesda's E3 show, the message was clear: we're working on the game but it's a very long way away.

Is it? I'll let you guys figure it out for me.

NecrumOddBoy2151d ago

Just looking at that trailer pan over and that these two regions are adjacent to each other, it seems like a good fit.

Jinger2150d ago

Looked like Highrock to me

Kabaneri2150d ago

Its Hammerfell or High Rock its far too dry, mountainous, and barren to be Valenwood or Elswyr.

zeuanimals2149d ago

That's why I want Valenwood and that's why we're not getting Valenwood. Elswyr is more desert and tropical, but it's certainly manageable and wouldn't be insane to do it justice, but I don't think we'll see it for atleast a decade or more.

Valenwood just seems out of the question. It first has to be lush and filled with detail due to the giant trees and the "tree houses". The cities and many areas have to be very vertical due to everything being built into and on trees. But I'd love to see it happen. I always liked the idea of having an entire city in the trees. We've had it in games before, but they didn't tend to try to immerse you into the world like TES games tend to do. If we ever do get a game set in Valenwood, I hope there's plenty of ways of traversing through the trees. Bethesda did publish the parkour centric shooter Brink afterall. It might have been a flop, but that movement style would be perfect for a game set in Valenwood.

Agreed. The vegetation, direction of the Sun(Rises and sets in the East and West), and closeness to water looks to be very likely to be Hammerfell, and due to these two continents size, they will likely include the two together since they are neighboring. It has rocky terrain and peaks but that doesn't mean it's High Rock that was shown. The agriculture resembles what we know of Hammerfell more and we have major mountain and hills all over the other games too.

I personally think it is southwest of Sentinel, as it's the capital of Hammerfell, will open the door to taking a vessel to the small islands south of the continents and possibly other ports for a quest line, and DLC. It also matches up enough to what little geography we can get from the trailer. Those buildings looked mostly like ruins, so I won't assume we saw a glimpse of Daggerfall like many believed it to be, though I expect it to be in this game.

I expect another DLC like past games adding entirely new continents to explore. In this case, the Summerset Isles.

There is an entirely other huge continent everyone forgets or doesn't know of. It's extremely dangerous and unknown what is there though. Tamriel is the major continent that we know. Nirn is the entire planet. That is why I expect a quest line to sail there from the major port on Hammerfell.

Whatever it is CD Projekt will still end up making a better game than this regardless.

CJQNSNYC2150d ago

Their games are vastly different and cannot be compared. The Elder Scrolls series allows you to loose yourself in the game, becoming anything you want to be, especially when you add mods. CD Project's games have been great so far but do not offer the same type of experience.

So, NO, they won't make a better game, but a different one.

--bienio--2150d ago

Cd project and cyberpunk that’s going to be a massive flop!! Fuck then it’s all about Elder Scrolls!!:)

Daeloki2149d ago

Your comment is kinda pointless... It's like saying "That bakers chocolate cake is going to be so much better than that cooks steak"

zeuanimals2149d ago

I'm tired of people saying or implying that it's stupid to compare things that aren't similar. The cake can be cooked better than the steak. It can look better than the steak (as in not burnt to hell or raw). It can feature better ingredients sourced from better places than the steak. The cake could be way cheaper than the steak or it could be way bigger and therefore a better use of money than the steak, if that's what you're looking for. And that's what comparisons are for, right? For people to figure out what they should do with their time, money, etc.?

If someone asked me what game they should get, whether it's Skyrim/Fallout 4 or The Witcher 3, I'm not gonna say that question is pointless baker's cake chef's steak. I'm gonna tell them that The Witcher 3 had better writing, better quests, actually meaningful choices, better and much beloved characters, better combat that can actually pose a challenge and sometimes would require different strategies, amazing DLC, believable cities that you can get lost in for days, etc. The only thing Skyrim/Fallout 4 have over The Witcher 3 is more freedom in building your character and a first person view to immerse yourself directly into the game world. But I don't care about that when the game I'm immersing myself into and shaping my character to be a part of is so bland.

Sure, this is just my opinion, but I've yet to find someone who can try to refute this. As it stands (and of course, in my opinion), Bethesda don't even stand close to the level that CDPR are at.

Daeloki2148d ago

@zeuanimals Fair enough my reply was unnecessarily pointed (and I was having a bad day, feel kinda like a dick now...). What I wanted to say is that they're really different games and appeal to very different players. I enjoyed both Skyrim and Witcher 3 immensely for various different reasons. On the other hand when I tried to get my friend into gaming, I presented him with a selection of my favourite games, from which he chose Witcher 3. He hated it. And I can understand why, it was painful to watch him play, he didn't really grasp mechanics the way I can, and he felt it was too complex and progressing slowly.
Despite this first bad impression, he bought a PS4 and Skyrim with it, and he absolutely loved it. He thought it looked amazing and the freedom in it was just perfect for him and it wasn't too complex.

So the point I wanted to make was that while TES and Witcher both rank high for me, they are very different and appeal to different people. I would probably have made the same comment if someone had commented "Whatever it is Bethesda will still end up making a better game than this regardless." on a Cyberpunk article.

zeuanimals2148d ago

True. My friend's not that interested in the long dialogue segments in The Witcher 3 and he didn't bother to get past White Orchard because of it, but he loves Skyrim. So I totally understand.

OhReginald2150d ago

Elder scrolls online ruined the mystique of tamriel for me.

Jinger2150d ago

I'm glad I never got into it then. TES is none of my favorite long running series since Daggerfall

execution172149d ago

Hopefully the old rumours of it being Akavir are true

Take-Two CEO: We're So Focused on Delivering More Value Than We Charge

Take-Two head honcho Strauss Zelnick states every time they establish a price, they want to make sure it's "good news for consumers."

Petebloodyonion4h ago

It's the why we close servers after 2 years, why we re-use the same assets every year, and why we bundle our game with enjoyable microtransactions.

neutralgamer19922h ago

Running digital casinos in every game

neutralgamer19922h ago

Can you please focus on delivering enough quality content to justify the $70 asking price? While I appreciate the idea of over-delivering, it's essential to ensure that the base content itself is worth it. I have concerns that GTA6 might have less single-player content because most of the focus seems to be shifting towards online play and microtransactions

Inverno1h ago

The sleaze oozes out of these gaming CEOs faces. It's honestly disturbing how distorted people look when you've realized how money obsessed they really are. He gives off "in one ear and straight out the other" vibes.

jambola1h ago

I really don't get it
like
do they think anyone believes what they say?
is it that being in charge surrounds you by so many yesmen that they get deluded into thinking everyone is like that?

Good-Smurf20m ago(Edited 16m ago)

Selling Shark cards and removing content are not exactly "good news for consumers" lol.
The last time they released any DLC worth playing was 15 years ago.
GTA V is so broken and unbalanced that people would rather do stupid cringey stunts with than do heists.

That's hilarious because he did and said the same thing with 2K Marin who developed Bioshock 2

They've been closed since 2013 but not officially acknowledged

He just doesn't want the backlash so pretends there's no issue.
