It all sounds well and good but it's a lot more easy for a dev to create fun gameplay for a dystopian world rather than a utopian world. That's just the nature of things. Although i will say utopian games are a nice change of pace but I feel more like a hero when I fight the odds and win. I guess it stems from a need to be the hero as well because you can't be a hero without villainous people to defeat.

Yes, it is easier to make a game where the main character beat the hell out of waves of alleged bad guys. But that's not the only option. There are plenty of fun and entertaining games that explore other concepts.
