Game Vortex: Hoyle Casino Games 2009 Review

Game Vortex writes: "Just like the other titles in the Hoyle line of games this year, Freeverse's Hoyle Casino 2009 is far from graphically genius. While it's true that the many slot and video poker machines look good visually, they are nothing special nor are they anything that you haven't seen before. There are some 3D elements in the game as well - including a dealer and tables to sit at - but again, they are nothing to write home about.

In fact, Hoyle Casino 2009's GUI is the main thing that you'll need to worry about, considering that the game is essentially one big 2D interface. While the buttons are easy to use, the general Menu system annoys me a bit. Since the ability to play a large number of games exists, there are sometimes many Sub-Menus involved, but they don't always work the way you would think. When backing out of a game, you're taken straight to the Main Menu instead of the previous Menu, making for unnecessary clicking."

WorthPlaying: Hoyle Casino Games 2009 Review

WorthPlaying writes: "It's amazing how low game standards can get. Back in the days of Sierra, Hoyle Casino was a decent, if not amazing, game with solid online multiplayer, even on 28.8k dial-up connections. A decade later, on a solid DSL connection that regularly runs much more intensive games without difficulty, Hoyle Casino Games 2009 somehow manages to play many, many times slower. The game isn't just a lazy rehash of older versions, but it also manages to be worse in just about every way. Just like most casinos write their distinct rule sets and don't use the Hoyle rules for games, so players are advised to pull out cards and play on their own. If they want to play online, they should use just about anything else out there. The Internet has plenty of great free options for casino games, after all, and almost all of them are far superior to this creation".

GameZone: HOYLE Casino Games 2009 Review

GameZone writes: "Many of us have the desire but sometimes we don't have the will - the desire is to hit it big in Vegas at the slot machines or at a game table. Yet the will is weak when it comes time to having the guts to spend big money. I have a rule anytime I go to a casino: Never leave with less money than I walked in with. That usually finds me playing very conservative, usually at games that have an extremely low buy-in. Almost as soon as I get ahead in money I will usually quit, even if that means I'm only up by a few cents.

However, I still have the desire to be a big player one day and probably the only way that will ever happen is with a game. Hoyle Casino Games 2009 is just the game for those would be high rollers like me. You get a huge collection of new and classic casino games to live out your fantasy. The standards such as Poker and Blackjack are included in both table style and video/slot machine style for the purists that love just those two games. The rest of the casino crowd will probably feel right at home with the enormous variety of games included."
