It's the 6th month of 2018 and Nintendo hasn't released any compelling games for the switch but they released cardboard. The switch is in a drought. Only silly fanatics would think the switch is winning when it comes to gaming.

I own a switch and I haven't played anything on it in the past 6 months apart from re-runs for Super Mario Odyssey and Mario Rabbids. Both are amazingly fun but proclaiming you've won 2018 when you haven't literally released any major new titles which includes 3rd party releases is a joke.

I like the switch but it has been accumulating dust for the last 5-6 months and will do the same until Smash releases

Many Nintendo extremists logic always excludes 3rd party when it comes to Sony/MS and adds them in for Nintendo.

Now Nintendo's fans are to pretend all the indies make up. Indies are nice games, but they can be had anywhere, usually before and cheaper. It can't be a system's crutch.

The fact is, Wii U got ports that were a year old and not too far from the 360/PS3 lead console version... and it is somehow a drought. Switch gets 6 year old ports not to far above 360/PS3 and many times scraping the bottom of the barrel performance wise (Doom) and it's 'amazing'. Just remember any modern PC can run the game at 150-200 FPS in/near full ultra settings at 1080p. I'm talking i7 and GTX 1070, not SLI or ti, not 8-16 cores, but quad core and 4th-5th best GPU in the GPU generation behind 1070ti, 1080, 1080ti, Titan.

The Switch also had a 1 1/2 years+ to get ready since they stopped supporting Wii U mainly very early in its cycle.

The only game I can't have elsewhere that's on the Switch is Mario. That's it. BOTW on my Wii U, and nothing else really compelling me to purchase it. Already have Mario Kart 8 and Splatoon. Still haven't gotten through Xenoblade 1.

The big gun was Zelda. That's their biggest. Mario game already game out. Now it's going to take 2-4 years from the last games launch until they the teams that were doing remastered Mario Kart and Splatoon 1.5 and the like can turnaround and make a great NEW game.

So if PS4 had no games but about 10x the AA and AAA games, what's that make Switch? With it's big guns already out Zelda and Mario. They have Pokemon and Metroid left, and neither are as big as Zelda and Mario. Pokemon is close, but you still have the 35-60 year old Nintendo fans that aren't as big into it.

Also PS4/XB1 was a leap up, causing ACTUAL new methods to be employed since so many of these developers hadn't made games like this before.

The fact is, the AA and AAA 3rd party games simply aren't there on Switch. They were there on Wii U, PS4, XB1, PC. There's a few token ones, plus a bunch of 6-10 year old PS3/360 games ported or remastered coming. But they aren't coming yet. This E3 is going to be big for Nintendo, because they need to showcase about triple what's launched so far to be released in the next 6-9 months, because the drought is real. Meanwhile showcase their own IP's with release dates.

I want Nintendo to do well, and to provide competition, but they bite off more then they can chew EVERY TIME and then design their hardware so that no one else can take up the slack... except indies. Not a good recipe long term. Remember Folks Switch has to sell portable+home console line numbers. Meaning 2DS/3DS+Wii/WiiU. Because it's now representing 2 lines, and 2DS+Wii= 250 million units sold. Even 3DS+Wii U was about 85 million units sold.

These titles will most likely not even get a release on Switch, so that's way more amazing games on Ps4 and other platforms compared to Switch.

So you're comparing Mario, one of the top most recognizable franchises that's been around for over 30 years to a brand new IP that sold incredibly well on a system that has a vast library of games at the time compared to when Mario Odyssey came out on a new system that didn't have as many games. And you're bringing up Superman 64, one of the worst games just to back up your sales "fact" that was released in 99 before the videogame industry truly blew up.

Why do you think Mario sold so well? Two reasons.

A) It's Mario, it had 30 years to establish itself so getting more sales wasn't hard at all. They built on that franchise. Same can be said for Pokemon.

B) There wasn't much else on the Switch at the time so of course it will sell alot. That's the way to sell your new hardware, put a well known established franchise on it to sell.

Smash is an excellent casual fighter when you have friends to play with. I clocked in god knows how many hours into SSB and SSBM. SSB Wii U just wasn’t a good enough game imo; couldn’t play it passed beating a single run of arcade mode with Kirby. Hopefully the new game is its own unique title and not another port. Give it single joycon support and I’ll have a blast with it.

I adore my Switch and consider myself to be a fan of Nintendo games, but this is clearly obsurd commentary from an individual who has is incapable of separating objectivity and subjectivity.

Incidentally, as a 43 year old, I like many others, missed the whole Pokemon phenomena, of course the games are popular, but I don't think one game from Ninty can be considered as more important than all of the exclusives in combination with 3rd party releases that have been available on Playstation in 2018.

The thing, though, is that there ISN'T just one game.
Not to disparage the others because obviously the PS4 and XB will have worthwhile games, but people need to quit bull****ing with the whole "No note-worthy games on Switch" crap.
A lack of a batch of Graphics-heavy third party games [many of which have been shown to fade from the spotlight a lot more quickly than fans want to admit] doesn't change that there's still other games from smaller devs that play just as well, and are worth just as much of a look, on Switch as on any other platform.

It's a fact that many Switch libraries include great games beyond the typical AAA third party fare.
People who think most Switch owners "Only buy it for the Nintendo games" are, at this point, untrustworthy in their opinion of the Switch's offerings.

TLOU came out AFTER the PS4 was revealed and just 5 months before the PS4 was released. Instead of holding the game back and making it a launch game for their next console, Sony honored their promise to the customers who had purchased their current console. Nintendo on the other hand delayed a game announced to be released in 2015 in order to sell their new console that was released in 2017. They even stripped away all the GamePad features they had demonstrated from the game in order to make sure that the Wii U version was the inferior version of the game. Only a fanboy like you thinks a company should be praised for such treating its customers in such a poor fashion.

I occasionally play Skyrim in bed when I’m bored on my Switch, maybe a bit of shovel knight or stardew valley, but a majority of the time I turn it on, check the store hoping some new AAA game I didn’t hear about is out, see that there’s nothing there and then turn it off.

As someone who owns all the consoles, ps4 has the goods for me. Best exclusives in my opinion. Gets all the AAA multi platform games. Still has lots of indie games. Very disappointed in my Xbox. Sea of thieves was horribly disappointing. State of decay 2 is very rough.
