Pokemon Let's Go is the Pokemon Game We Deserve and the Pokemon Game We Need Right Now

Pokemon Let's Go is a new beginning on the Nintendo Switch. It takes us back to the Kanto Region and has a ton of new features, marking a new era for the series.

It's not the Pokemon game we deserve, but I will still pick it up and give it a go. Really looking forward to the game next year though.

emiyaxtousaka2173d ago

I agree with the author that it's a nice kind of reboot for the series, going back to its roots. I can't wait to return to Kanto.

Neonridr2173d ago

true, but obviously it's aimed at the casuals a little more since the battle mechanics seem to be stripped away and replaced with some Pokemon Go influence. I still want to see more and will definitely pick it up, as this sort of entry level pokemon is just what my son needs to get into the series.

emiyaxtousaka2173d ago

@Neonridr there's still so much we don't know about the game. Hopefully we see some on treehouse live or something. I don't see it as mere Pokemon GO mechanics but we'll see.

-Foxtrot2173d ago

Nice reboot? Going back to its roots? Whaaaa

No it's not, if it was going back to it's roots it would be full on, expanded remake of Pokemon Yellow not a dumbed down looking streamlined Yellow remake infused with Pokemon GO crap.

lifeistranger2173d ago

it's not the one we deserve and it's not the one we need right now. we need real pokemon not this crap.

Neonridr2173d ago

you don't speak for me thank you very much.

mcstorm2172d ago

You are getting that next year this one is designed to get more people into Pokémon. Think of all the go users who played the game it's aimed at them and also keep Pokémon fans going until next year. for me this is a great move by Nintendo and should also help the sales of the full RPG next year to.

pcz2172d ago

Compared to pokmon snap and all the other non core Pokémon titles that usually get a console release, this title is a big step in the right direction.

It's just a cross-over title to get the casuals who have only ever played Pokémon go accustomed to what is soon to come- the real thing

oKidUKo2173d ago

I think it's long overdue to bring some new features to the Pokemon games. Now I just need a Switch to play it on.

emiyaxtousaka2173d ago

I really love that Pokeball controller. I just wonder what the price will be. But the features shown look awesome and we don't even know what else they have in store.

Neonridr2173d ago

I believe that EB Games in Australia has one for preorder for $70 AUD which works out to a little over $50 USD.

emiyaxtousaka2173d ago

@Neon I kind of expected that price but I wish it wasn't so much because it's just so damn cool and immersive.

ninsigma2173d ago

What an awful price! :O

emiyaxtousaka2173d ago

I do agree the price is awful so if I want it like $110 to play the game. ugh. frustrating.

the features are cool but it better have real battles and such or else it's filler until real pokemon comes along. pokemon fans will eat it up but honestly I don't think that it'll be all that great though there do seem to be some cool features.

ShadowWolf7122173d ago

There's only trainer v trainer battles, no wild battles or levelling up.

ShadowWolf7122173d ago

"New Features"

Ahaha more like stripping old features.

Fantomex2173d ago

No. No it isn't. This is certainly false.

Theknightofnights2173d ago

I might pick this game up. I'll probably wait for reviews (which I typically don't for a core Pokemon game).

I wouldn't say it's the Pokemon game we need or deserve, but I do think this will boost Switch sales at least somewhat for the holidays, regardless of the reaction from some people expecting more.

Pokemon Go on steroids. No thanks

PhantomS422173d ago

It's only the throwing mechanic and is the same and the option to transfer Pokemon to and from Pokemon Go, calm down.

TheSuperiorGamer2173d ago

The throwing thing is actually pretty cool. I'd buy that pokeball for it honestly though using the joycon is fine too. co-op is pretty cool. still unsure of the game though.

Duke192173d ago

The entire battle mechanic also looked way stripped down, which also makes me think other aspects have really been gutted from the traditional pokemon RPGs in favor of pokemon go integration.

-Foxtrot2173d ago

No it's not just the throwing mechanic

You can't battle wild Pokemon...just trainers, you know a major part of the main franchise

I really enjoyed this article, it was a good read. This quote gave me a chuckle, because it's true!:

"Pretty much every JRPG involves the player’s characters going from barely being able to lift a sword to killing God"

indysurfn1408d ago

LOL...exaggeration but I get your just making a point. No one can Kill God. Don't drink Satan's cool-aide he is just trying to recruit you (backwards recruit)

Tross1408d ago

He probably only has the grape kind anyways. All the folk up in heaven surely hog all the good flavours.

BrainSyphoned1408d ago

Final Fantasy 15 the ultimate delayed game with delayed story dlc shoveled in at the last second. Doesn’t ring the gratifying bell when I see that stupid car at all. Article+thumbnail is like describing a 5star meal while watching your cat clean its backside.

More specifically I would say JRPGs are progressive gratification. Basically like listening to prog music vs anything else which imo is the best. Even if a JRPG is all about the journey, generally speaking JRPGs keep getting better as opposed to other games which usually have their high points come in either too soon, or the best parts just aren't nearly as impactful.

indysurfn1408d ago

Also don't forget the direct comparison that the old Square Enix president made. He said Western players like TWITCH games and eastern players love Cerebral games. Now it was taken as a racist slam. But he meant it as one of the reasons outside of development time and cost return on investment(ROI). But he had a true point people here are TRAINED to like instant stuff. And people there are trained to like delayed over the top stuff. It is not a intelligence slam. I'm glad I LOVE the later gratification! Because it is way better!

iofhua21408d ago

I like JRPG's for the big anime tiddies.

indysurfn1407d ago

lol.....I stand corrected!
