PowerUp! - "A DICE developer claims that Battlefield 2018 is Battlefield Bad Company 3. Could it be true? It certainly seems possible."
MP1st - Should the next Battlefield game be Bad Company 3? MP1st weighs in on whether this is a good or bad thing or if a Bad Company 2 remaster would be better.
I would say hell yeah, but im not confident in modern DICE's ability to recreate what made the bad company series good.
This is how I feel. I'd love a new one, but deep down I know itll be bad or not on par with the originals
Especially since they said in the past they have no idea why Bad Company was as successful and loved as it was.
Yes, it should be if they can creat a good story like they did in the first two and a good multiplayer and leave their SJW politics out of it.
I'd be happy if it was Battlefield 3. Kill all of that Live junk, and just go back to the basics.
After 1 year of b4, there was 32 maps... after a little after 1 year of BFV there are 20 maps. Live is nice because everyone can play all the content together but there is considerably a lot less of it. I think battlefield has lost it's way and IF it comes out with another hit game it will be an accident.
Yeah. We need a break from the norm after what happened with 5.
I think both gamers, and DICE, need some fresh air.
I mean they did try that with Hardline, but let's be honest there who in their right mind wanted that kind of setting for a Battlefield game
PLEASE GOD, TOTURE DICE to do Bad Company 3 next !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND Improve Rush otherwise leave it alone and give it to us,
I just want rush to be fun like the last gen games. I don't even care what BF is titled if they can atleast do that. Love conquest, but I feel now that and the half a day battles are your only good modes now. Rush use to be my fav
If they did, you would be so disappointed with the result. I don't think Dice has a clue what they're doing anymore.
Yes it godman should, and should throw in BC2 Digital edition as a free download.
White I wasn't on the dice hate banwagon as I think they had validity for everything pertaining BFV and I actually enjoy the game. Outside that random ttk update a while ago.
I'd say yes if they can do a modernized Bad Company 3 that captures why Bad Company was great. But I feel it would just be a label if they make Bad Company 3 and not the true game that should be. BUT I'll say, atleast some of the maps in BFV had the right direction for Bad Company but just needed a bit more to make it right. We shall see. It doesn't hurt to try, that or a modern game again like BF4 and 3
I would love some Battlefield Bad Company. I almost feel that it is a little late now.
We only been asking for it for the last 10 years. I don't know that it even matters at this point. But the next battlefield definitely has to bring itself back to it's glory days, and it has to be modern.
Only if EA/DICE don't ruin it with agenda driven PC bullish.
I can see a "tough female that isnt afraid to speak her mind" that smokes cigars being added. And the writing...the writing....
i'd be happy with a bf3 remaster if it was the last thing dice did. no bf game has surpassed 3.
Yes please! I’d also like it to really lean into the over the top and funny, way more than BC2. Hire some really nice comedy writers.
I feel we gamers might be to blame a little too as no matter how good or vad a BBC3 will be, we will compare it heavily to the originals.
Battlefield needs to change they gameplay, that’s why COD is so popular, because it’s easy to play. Would be nice with some fast paced small maps.
In DICE's eyes, Bad Company 2 was full of toxic masculinity within the campaign. They would have to include some gender fluid soldiers (even though they don't exist)
I read an interview between a dice employee and eurogamer and they said they didn't know why bad company 2 was as successful as it was... this is exactly why I have zero faith in dice today. Battlefield is hit or miss and lately they have been missing.
Personally I missed out on bad company, I got in at 3 and it was phenomenal for the time, and the 4 was even better. But since then it's been pretty rough, and I don't see it getting better unless by some accident apparently.
I did like BC but at this point id like a 2142 remaster i played all battlefields but i had the most fun on 2142 .
The last 2 Battlefield games should have been Bad Company 3!
Tbh like most I don't think for one second that DICE could do it justice, so lets just have a modern engine remaster mash up of BC, BC2 and BC Vietnam.
I'd like to see 2 studios do every other year with battlefield and bad company and alternate them each year.
Edit: oh and do battlefield 2142 ffs.
Senior Vice and Media Director at DICE, Randy Evans, has announced that the reveal trailer for Battlefield 2018 is underway.
You're one of the biggest EA haters here on n4g so why aren't you preaching boicot? Or is it just certain EA games that you don't like or want to play?
I'm sure there will be some kind of MT in Battlefield.
You guy's and all your MT bitching need to step it up and practice what you preach or the Evil Empire of EA will never fall.
Buying used since it's EA, but if it's not bad company or modern combat I'll just skip it for the first time
I just wasted money buying UFC3 new. I wanted to support the game as I want the game to grow into something better. Selling it now on eBay. The micro transactions are so bad, plus it's so buggy and broken at times. I'll never buy EA new again. Although that's the only game I've bought new from them in years.
I don't really think that has as much to do with EA the publisher as much as the developer of those games is really really bad.
So that wouldn't really have much to do with the actual development teams that create Battlefield or Titanfall or anything like that.
Even as a huge mixed martial arts fan I completely avoid those games like the plague.
Will be interesting to see how heavly implemented microtransactions will be in this one.
Take the worst situation you can think of, and that should be pretty accurate.
There is nothing interesting about it, as this company has been rather transparent, blatant, and public in their "microtransaction" approach to their business model going forward.
Don't hold your breath for something decent. You wouldn't survive it.
I disagree, micro transactions in Battlefield 1 weren't bad at all and were almost entirely cosmetic.
I haven't played in months, but I do remember them being completely unobtrusive in BF 1, it was just barely-noticeable gun skins from battlepacks. And melee weapons, but again... They seemed a bit silly.
Exactly. It was a great game, and still is. I only stopped playing as my reaction skills arn't as good as you lot and was getting slaughteted inline lol. Really liked the campaign too.
Exactly
I'm still playing Battlefield 1 today , they did an absolutely amazing job on that game.
I'm expecting battle royale mode to be the centerpiece of the game, no way EA isn't going to chase the money in those games.
i just hope if they are going to have Mt's they are like BF1, all cosmetic and you can earn boxes in games so you dont have to buy anything.
If you look how they were implemented previously I think you could expect them to be similar to what we saw from Battlefield 1 which I'm completely okay with as it doesn't really affect my game.
But I'm more interested in is to see if they're going to go with what they did with Titanfall 2 and Battlefront 2 and actually have free season pass going forward. I think it would be weird to have Battlefield the odd man out in charge for a season pass despite other games they released having them free.
@hyper- well yes it could have premium but what's being debated is if they're going to charge for it simply because Battlefront still had a season pass but it's free Titanfall 2 is also free as well.
So I'm not really sure we could use the past to give an indication like that while conveniently ignoring the current of what they're doing.
No EA... Not this time. You've played your cards on how you want multiplayer games to be now and in the future, so you can take another no sale from me.
Hopefully it's Vietnam setting.Frankly I'm tired of WW2 it's always the same crappy missions Now if they decided to tackle the Pacific battles,Africa battles I'm intrigued.
Yes and BF 1 was too modern-feeling to justify a WW II game in my opinion. Fast, powerful tanks, auto guns, little trench fighting... What's the point of WWII? I agree, Korea/Vietnam combined would be amazing. Alt history cold war would be awesome too
I'm completely okay if it's Vietnam I'm completely okay if it's the Korean War I'm completely okay if it's Desert Storm and I'm completely okay if it's World War II.
I'm definitely expecting it to be World War II.
Im honestly hoping for a ww2 game from them. Its been too long and they're one of the few devs that'll get it right.
BF1 is is WW1, I'm assuming it's a typo but who knows.
They already did African and Pacific battles in 1942, granted it was a long time ago but the point still stands.
I know it'll probably be loot crate progression system and loot crate infested, so for the first time in a decade I think I'll pass on battlefield. Really hate what EA has turned DICE into.
EA talks briefly about the new Battlefield game, which has now been confirmed for release later this year.
I vote for Vietnam era because I did love Battlefield Bad Company 2 Vietnam DLC
Awesome. I can't wait to play this on ultra settings on my pc. I've been waiting for a proper and more modern warfare battlefield game to play on my pc. I like battlefield 1 but it's mostly a sniperfest game majority of the time and I don't like a lot of the weapon selections. The game is good imo but it doesn't pull me in to play like bf4
WHAT??? BC2 had Vietnam DLC? Oh shit. My PC died about 2 months into that game and despite absolutely loving it, I couldn't bring myself to play it on console so stopped following it. I can't believe I missed that, BFV was my first real competitive shooter so I have so many fond memories of Vietnam era Battlefield.
Of that I have no doubt, EA. What I want to know is if you learned from past mistakes, namely doing away with the season passes so all players have access to all maps to avoiding user base fragmentation and long arse matchmaking loading screens.
Oh and the other thing...please dont ruin this IP with predatory MT and loot box tactics!
EA promised to not repeat the mistakes they made with battle front. They made TWO mistakes!
1 Micro transactions
2 Announcing the micro transactions, by giving reviewers FULL copies of the game.
EA have several times said Micro transactions are coming back. So guess which one
that leaves.
I wish they would just remaster BC2. They clearly don't know how to make good games anymore.
I want Vietnam also. There are so few games during that period.
If not then 2143 would be awesome. 2142 had a special place in my heart. Titan Assault was so fun.
The title is wrong, the actual title is "New Battlefield Has 'Astonishing Visuals, Gameplay and Microtransactions', says Satan.
I'm ok with any era honestly. They made an amazing game with BF1. I see the next one expanding on that in terms of visuals and correcting any of BF1's mistakes.
Maybe they will maybe they wont, I can't trust anyone under EA even DICE at this point. All I want is a season pass-free game with no progression bound MTs/loot boxes.
How hard is for a BF game like that^ to sell a crapton??
What about WW2 Pacific against the Japanese? Vietnam was a failure as we all know, so don't see the point.
It will be. It’s EA we talking here. I don’t care if these are cosmetic, it’s just excuse from major gaming publishers.
You need to get over it already... You cry so much about EA it honestly amazes me. Everyone has the choice to not buy if they don't like EA's practices, so why don't you just give it a rest already!
Very High and Ultra presets on PC will be microtransactions. The game will be locked to 720p 30fps and the option to increase the resolution and framerate will be loot crates
Honestly, for whatever reason, I've never once felt like spending real money on the loot boxes in BF1. They are all just weapon/vehicle skins and exp boosts that last for 30 minutes to an hour.
They seem pretty innocuous in BF1. I'm NOT saying they are good, just that the ones in BF1 aren't as bad as they are in other games.
That's the thing people overlook in their rage. You don't have to buy it. You have a choice. I have never bought loot or used micro transactions. I use grinding to get better and that is why I stump the inexperienced people that paid to level up. 😎
And how about the hard working ppl that have kids and just want to sit down relax and jump in to game? Everyone pays for games right? Price = money, money= pay, pay = work (whatever job it is), that being said i shouldnt pay a full 60$ for half the game locked behind yet another paywall source. Sometimes grinding takes far too long and ppl dont have time for it
@SAMFISHER, with the majority of games you have the option to jump into games, without having to spend an extra dime. I think GEARS OF WAR 4 got things right, they release new map packs, and then implement them into multiplayer for FREE. I’m hoping other studios will adopt the same practice.
@ sam fisher
I think in that instance you should pick and choose what games to buy to fit your time. I love mmorpgs but i dont play them anymore because my life just doesnt fit them.
Im not good at battlefield or CoD but i still have fun playing with friends. I pick up and play just fine and i never buy MTs. I accept im not going to be a pro gamer or top streamer or whatever.
I play for fun and relaxation. If i read that a game pushes you to buy MT as in BF2 i just dont buy it. Im not going to boycott a game just because it has MT in it.
Good lord just no no no more freaking microtransaction and lootboxes they need to go from gaming
Newsflash: "This just in. Company CEO says their product is amazing. More at 11....."
Does anyone expect them to say otherwise? Let's just see if the loot boxes are any good. /s
They do tend to release mediocre games lately, don't they. I have to say though... if games like Battlefront 2 and Anthem are anything to go by then we can at least expect some astonishing visuals for Battlefield. I really hope that Anthem is good.
COMPANY HEAD SAYS THEIR PRODUCT IS GREAT
IN OTHER NEWS WATER MAKES THINGS WET
As long as its not ww2 era. Everyone wanted cod to go back to ww2 but its been worse off
I want a ww2 BF game, only because they havent done it since 1942. I want to see what they can do with the tech they have today. And cod is only a shell of its former self. All their previous ww2 games were great, but i cant stand the new one.
I think you may be out of luck, I agree with you but for different reasons (BF 1 was already so modernised that WWII would feel redundant)
Casualfield infested with sociopath kids or the new playerbase EA has such a hard on for since Casualfield 1- cheers EA but no thanks !
Will pray and hold out for Bad Company 3, they couldn't possibly dumb down this Battlefield series!
Just remember DICE, the players who have bought all your bf games and supported you since 2002.
Headline should read “GAMES COMPANY SAYS NEW GAME IS THIER BEST EVER”. Other than the BF6 news (which is huge! But not the main point in this article) this is pretty much a non story.
Forza 7, halo, gears, cod, monster hunter....
They are in almost every game on console.
Seems like they are now in every Microsoft first party title. I remember when they ruined Gears 3 with all those pointless weapon skins, and that was almost 7 years ago. Even though the skins weren't put in lootboxes, I remember getting pissed off at Gears 3 and I stopped playing it altogether after about a month.
Gears 1 and 2 were good because you could just focus on killing people and having fun. Too bad MS ditched gaming for money. MS is always paving the way forward for some type of anti-consumer policy and then everyone else seems to follow. Sony doesn't really have lootboxes in their titles, at least not that I can think of right now. Haven't played Horizon or GT Sport, so I can't be 100% sure.
EA talking about anything game related - horrifies me. When they say something looks great, I just imagine them referencing how the loot boxes fit into the entire spectrum of the game's overall DNA and how excited it makes their empty hearts.
Please be 2143 - I don't think it will be, but yeah...
I have a feeling it will be WW2.
Big thing, for me, was that the progression system while tons better than Battlefront, ultimately has made these games a process of putting up with sub-optimal loadouts, until you progress to a slightly less sub-optimal loadout. I never felt versitile or prepared for most encounters in BF1, no matter what I unlocked. I felt like I had such a narrow window of use as a solider. I know that's realistic and encourages teamplay, but, what actually happens is that everyone just constantly switches class and never really ends up being much of a squad. I remember older bf games feeling more open in this respect. Like Bad Company 2. You could build most classes to become pretty flexible and good in a number of situations. Snipers always feel OP and therefore being less good at close quarters make sense. But having assault, medic, support all feel compromised at variants of minute range differences is just weird. Maybe guns are just underpowered? But as a solider, I'd always want to feel like if I played strategically, or practised to 'get gud', I could get the upper hand on a number of players. Spawn, shoot one dude, die because your gun can't outperform another guy's gun at the distance he pops up at, die again, is just frustrating and feels engineered to make you switch up your loadout and grind xp to get a slightly different one.
I know skill is always a factor, but wouldn't it be nice if unlocks just added variety rather than changed how deadly you are in permanent degrees v other classes. That just feels contrived. Again, I feel that used to be the case in the older games. BF1 and the Battlefront games feel like a chance based gun v gun card game.
Hopefully a direct sequel to Battlefield 4, old setting not my type, but this is just me
I hope it’s something modern, I got bored of BF1 so quickly compared to the rest of them , regret buying premium for it , and buying it on both PS4 and PC lol
I highly enjoy BF4, and still play it to this day , I own premium for it on PC and PS4 , sucks hackers are back on the PC version tho.
Vietnam would be cool but I’d prefer something like BF5
Despite my long-time adoration of the Battlefield series (especially Bad Company) after that weak-as-a-chipmunk-fetus Battlefield 1 story-mode I'm hard-pressed to even pick this title up.
Plus, you know, the whole EA kind-of-sucks thing.
Hrm. Better not be WWII, I don't care how nice it looks, BF 1 was too close to WWII gameplay-wise (let's be real here, the WWI setting was mostly aesthetic).
Anything onward and I'm right onboard. Wouldn't Korea AND Vietnam be awesome!?
"Our products are the best and can't be beat!" - Every CEO Ever.
I'm sure we'll be getting for loot crates and some scheme to make up for the lost profits from Battlefront 2.
Just hoping it's more like BF4, where you can parachute from anywhere, lol
BF1 Felt forced at places and something was missing gameplay wise and was not as much fun.
Vietnam would be good, love the heli's in those games.
I don't want a WW2 game. It's too soon. WW1 game just came out about a year and a half and Call of Duty just released their WW2 game in November. They should make a different time period for 2018 and then come back to WW2 in 2019 or 2020 when there isn't saturation.
I wouldn't mind playing a modern Battlefield with 1's engine, graphics, controls, mechanics, and reduction in vehicles (BF1 did vehicles right, BF4 had waaaaayyyy too many vehicles and they were overpowered). I want a modern BF1 like game, but with the customization of 4. Also, stop putting weapon attachments in battlepacks. That ruined BF4. Battlepacks should be cosmetic items only.
Not sure i'll be ready for another battlefield. Is the BF1 premium pass on ea access ?
I don't see how this is news, it's not like he's going to come out and say "Seen the new Battlefield recently, looks a bit shit if i'm honest" so why does a clear marketing comment need to be turned into an article
Hopefully the next BF will have smooth crisp controls and not the stiff gunplay of BF1. We dont need 500 control options DICE, we shouldnt have to get a PHD to set them up to our liking.
Stiff? BC2 was stiff. Personally, I liked how much you could tailor your control scheme and sensitivity.
Except we have no reason to doubt him. Recent Battlefield games have always looked incredibly good and played very well. Battlefield 1 is still one of the best looking games that I've seen.
Lets go back a year,,,,
Star Wars Battlefront 2 came up during EA’s quarterly financials today, and CEO Andrew Wilson assured investors the second game will be bigger and better than its bestselling predecessor.
“Our next Star Wars Battlefront will be even bigger, taking players into more locations, and allowing them to play with more heroes and characters across multiple Star Wars eras,” he said.
“There will be new ways to play, including an all-new single-player campaign, and much, much more that we are excited to share with our players in the months ahead.”
Yeah...right.....the gameplay is horrible even without loot boxes.
Every BF game looks amazing, I dont think that is what everyone is worried about EA....
Looking forward to a new BF. BF1 I loved at first but after awhile the maps and everything just felt the same. No maps for me really stood out. Most seemed liked open fields.
The problem with the next Battlefield game, is that we have no idea what EA is going to do to mess with the classic Battlefield experience. I have a bad feeling that they are going to ruin the series, probably with micro-transactions and loot boxes.
"and its campaign is onlly 3 hours long!" forgot to mention that part, didnt they?
I hope it will not be WWII and will have better maps than BF1. I wouldn't mind less good graphics if it means more complex maps and destructible environment.
graphics are nice and all but honestly if it still takes the same amount of time inbetween games like bf1 does they can take those graphics and shove it up their ass... the loading times and waiting in bf1 is probably the worst part of the entire game
"New battlefield uses exact same engine and gameplay" said no publisher ever when it's 100% the case.
It would be a day one buy.
Yeah i call bs, and even if it was they would screw it up imo.
I really hope so, if its WW2, no buy!
OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NO WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please be true please be true please be true please be true please be true!
