Sam Hawkins Wrote - On April 25th 2018, Belgium’s legislators officially declared loot boxes in video games, such as those found in games like FIFA, Overwatch and CS:GO (3 of the games investigated), illegal under the countries gambling laws following a study conducted over several months by the Belgian Gaming Commission.
"I think EA would have responded quite badly to that"
If there’s an organization that is more corrupt than EA, it’s for sure FIFA.
I also agree that EA has done more for FIFA on brand awareness too. I know of people that thought FIFA was an EA brand similar to Madden instead of their own independent organization.
Probably a good call on Sony's part given the relationship they needed to build with ea over time and given the era if EA didn't want something they found ways around it such as building their own unlicensed games and bypassing console copyright protection on 16 bit systems to avoid paying licensing
the Fifa people are some of the scummiest people there is, even outside of the gaming industry.
good on that sony ceo for actually talking to EA first and letting them know what happened.
One of the only ways to play CS:GO on official servers is via the Xbox 360 version of the game.
I love video games so much that I never have the time to replay the old one that I have finished, my backlog has only gotten bigger and bigger. I don't get how some people can play one game for years (except for mmorpg)
Wonder why they've never ported this game over to last Gen and now current Gen. This game would be pretty popular right now, I think.
The world could always use a few more heroes, or in this case friends. Here are some Overwatch Heroes you would want to hang out with.
Protecting gamers from themselves.
I love it.
EA will find a way to come up with something worse than lootboxes.. hopefully i look back on this comment one day and realize i was wrong, but meh,, EA
More countries must do the same
"But loot boxes aren't so bad, just show some restraint."
Totally agree. I'll show restraint by... Not buying games with loot boxes in them. I might be tempted but really, do I need them? Or I could just wait for several months until the price drops to less than half and therefore not have to spend as much money. It's not like I'll suffer by not buying at launch, the game will probably be in a much better state by that time anyway. Alternatively I could stop buying games altogether since I really should show some RESTRAINT considering I already have a sizeable backlog. And everyone else should do it too! Just show some restraint and together, we can all avoid spending too much money. Such great words of wisdom. I live my life by them already.
Pay to play or win is just meh, it makes a mockery out of gaming
