Media Create Sales: 4/9/18 – 4/15/18

The Switch version of The Snack World: Trejarers, titled The Snack World: Trejarers Gold, sold 35,655 retail copies during its first week of release, the latest Media Create sales figures reveal. Also new this week, Death end re;Quest, Compile Heart’s new trapped-in-an-MMORPG RPG for PlayStation 4, launched at 15,303 sales.

Neonridr2219d ago (Edited 2219d ago )

yikes.. PS4 sales are very low, barely breaking 10K when you add both SKUs together.

love the fact that some random game called The Snack World outsold everything else, lol. Gotta love those quirky Japanese gamers.

Oh and Lime.. YTD Switch - 760,486. YTD PS4 - 745,217

Lime1232219d ago (Edited 2219d ago )

Monster Hunter World crossed 2 million physical copies. Including digital it's close to 3 million. Higher than any Switch game.

In Top 20:

10 PS4 games
7 Switch games

We're in April and Switch and PS4 are practically tied. This is Nintendo's strongest market? This is Sony's weakest market?

michellelynn09762219d ago

Nope. The Switch is over the ps4. And counting difital, MHW is over 2.4 million.

Neonridr2219d ago (Edited 2219d ago )

at the rate Splatoon 2 is selling, it will reach that mark.

let's add up the sales of the 7 Switch games vs the 10 PS4 games shall we?

They aren't practically tied. The Switch is ahead by 15K, which is more than the PS4 sold all week. At the rate the Switch is outselling the PS4, by the end of the year the difference will be several hundreds of thousands if not over a million.

give it up, you have no legs to stand on now Lime. MHW was outsold this week by Detective Pikachu (lol), along with 6 Switch games (4 of those games are much older than MHW). Just stop, you are too desperate.

marloc_x2219d ago

Very happy, that 1rst party sales are dominating the top 10..

JaguarEvolved2219d ago (Edited 2219d ago )

Worldwide sales

Ps4 - 77.6 m
Switch - 16.1 m
Xbox - 37 m

Which game will you guys buy next God of war 4 or labo? Lol

thesoftware7302219d ago

Hahahaha.

Lime, you are great at moving the goal post. Its actually a shame how you blindly hate Nintendo and worship Sony. Its funny because not even other Sony fans back you up much...you know why? because you sound afraid and desperate lol.

It will be ok when the switch lifetime sales surpass the Ps4 in japan. you can then focus all you attention in the U.S.

septemberindecember2219d ago

@JaguarEvolved

Not sure what you are trying to get at. You do understand that the Switch has only been out a bit over a year and the PS4 has been out for almost 5 now, right?

Big_Game_Hunters2218d ago

MHW had a bundle. Inflated sales.

Lime1232219d ago

MHW sold almost 3 million on 6,5 million install base. So 1 out of 2 PS4 owners have MHW in Japan. That's better than Super Mario Odyssey, Zelda, Mario Kart 8,...

michellelynn09762219d ago

Nope. 2.4 million. And it can't seem to hold up.

Neonridr2219d ago

you are bragging about a 3rd party game here.. you do realize that right?

Give me a list of the number of PS4 exclusives that have sold over 1 million in Japan... I'll wait while you search.

marloc_x2219d ago

Monster Hunter still strong at 16th..

..not quite half of the 9491 PS4s sold, bought a copy of the game.

thesoftware7302219d ago

Yeah, but that makes sense due to the difference in install base ...whats your point?

and why did you leave Splatoon 2 off that list?

Gameseeker_Frampt2219d ago (Edited 2219d ago )

"yikes.. PS4 sales are very low, barely breaking 10K when you add both SKUs together."

Well considering that there is a PS4 console shortage over in Japan right now that isn't very surprising. The only ones available on Amazon JP are going for ¥43,350 when the MSRP is ¥29,980. Clearly Sony underestimated demand for MHW in Japan and they really need to get their act together and solve this supply shortage.

Also, why all the hating on MHW? If it is selling badly by your guys standards - MK8, Odyssey, and BOTW must be failures by your math. Or does math work differently in your world depending on whether it is a first party game or not?

Neonridr2219d ago

lol.. yeah sure there's a shortage. Amazon isn't the only seller in Japan. Plenty of department stores over there carry electronics.

Gameseeker_Frampt2219d ago

Oh, I see. Amazon JP counts when one likes to talk about how Lobo is more popular than God of War in Japan, but not when it comes to actual sales availability of a product. I wonder if I went back how many times I would find you saying that the Switch or Amiibos were sold out even though we both know some third party scalper somewhere was selling them.

thesoftware7302219d ago

Hahahaha..shortage for a 5 year old system..let me guess...it sold so great that Sony cant keep up with demand?

And no one is hatin on MHW or Sony..Lime is making silly comparisons and people are just stating facts about game and system sales. MHW did drop far on the charts..only reason anyone mentioned it, is because of Lime's asinine statements lol.

septemberindecember2219d ago (Edited 2219d ago )

@Gameseeker_Frampt

I think the difference between Amiibo shortages and Switch shortages in Japan vs. your proposed PS4 shortage is that the former were well documented by retail stores and Nintendo alike. Meanwhile, I can't find any evidence that there is a PS4 shortage in Japan. Furthermore, the PS4 is on it's 5th year in Japan, and that's an incredibly weird time for a console to have stock shortages.

Gameseeker_Frampt2219d ago

@thesoftware730

While Lime is just a crazy fanboy, all of your guys posts are reinforcing the point that he is making. If Switch and Nintendo games are so dominating Japan like your posts are saying, how can any non-Nintendo game be easily outselling Zelda, Mario Kart, and Odyssey in just a few short months? Everyone is trying way too hard to downplay the success of Monster Hunter World which is sad since the same people were bragging about how great the Monster Hunter sales were when it was on 3DS.

I just want to know what happened to the excuse we heard all during the Wii U that consoles don't sell well in Japan? Why are the same people who used that line now bragging about a portable hybrid outselling a console in Japan?

michellelynn09762219d ago

Sadly the Wii U just didn't sell. A lot of this had to do with Nintendo's horrible marketing and MHW has done great. I haven't seen anyone say that Japan sales don't matter. And there is no ps4 shortages. Knock it off.

septemberindecember2218d ago

@knushwood

I appreciate those sources! Maybe there is a shortage.

Aceman182219d ago

Always the same ppl going back and forth in Ninty sales articles 🤣🤣

septemberindecember2219d ago

Can't we all just enjoy our systems, guys?

Gameseeker_Frampt2219d ago

Apparently not judging by the very first comment on this article. I do enjoy the show every week though, but do miss the common conspiracy that N4G won't approve Media Create Sales when Nintendo is winning. Such good times those were.

TekoIie2219d ago

There was actually a point where the articles would take longer to get approved. Also not really a conspiracy because it's easily explained by just looking at how N4G has been a Sony site since mid last gen. Fewer fans of other systems means that it takes longer for articles that those people would want to read to get approved.

No conspiracy its just common sense.

Also people are directing things towards Lime's inability to admit defeat after months of YTD sales talk.

michellelynn09762219d ago

Knushwood Butt, you keep showing the same old links. It doesn't prove there are shortages. And shortages for a 5 year old system? Give me a break.

Knushwood Butt2218d ago

Try to find a black 500 GB model for RRP of 32,378

Good luck.

http://kakaku.com/search_re...

michellelynn09762218d ago

@Knushwood Butt, once again. Show any actual evidence. And a 5 year old console having stock issues. Just accept reality and get over it. Deal with it.

Knushwood Butt2218d ago

This is the reality. Consumers don't normally show up in hoards to pay over the RRP for goods.

Hence why PS4 sales are low, because major retailers don't have stock.

Hence why minor retailers are offering them for over the odds.

The intetesting thing is, from one of the links I posted, but you didn't read, is that the writer suggests Sony are doing this deliberately to align with their forecasts for financial year.

Yet all you can contribute is, 'get over it'.

michellelynn09762218d ago (Edited 2218d ago )

So a five year old console is having stock shortages for the last 8 weeks? A few weeks? Sure, but Sony has not commented on this.

Xbox President Sarah Bond's Bloomberg Interview Is Corporate Fakery At Its Best

Saad from eXputer: "After Arkane Austin & Tango were shutdown, Xbox President Sarah Bond spoke with Bloomberg in what I believe to be utter corporate fakery."

im not really surprised by that, shes always been more a "let me talk about something else than what u want to know" kinda gal

Cacabunga1d 3h ago

If what they are doing is that good, what’s the point of hiding the true story?

anast1d 7h ago

She's a caricature of the shareholders.

PRIMORDUS1d 5h ago

"Shareholders" I call them cancer, they are already rich to begin with but need more and more. It's like a disease, with no cure.

__y2jb13h ago

If you have a pension then you are likely to be a shareholder in these big tech companies yourself. To demonize them as 'heartless rich people' shows you have no idea what you're talking about.

anast11h ago(Edited 11h ago)

@Y2

Of course, it isn't about that. You are attempting to set up a self-righteous strawman to stir up some kind of ignorant mob mentality.

And by the way, most everyone is a touch heartless or we wouldn't be able to consume the products we do knowing very well how they are made. People have to be this way because of self-preservation and convenience.

__y2jb9h ago

@anast please explain to me how what i said is self righteous or a strawman. I simply pointed out that categorizing all shareholders as cancer is ridiculous.

Leeroyw1d 2h ago

I own shares in game companies. I'm not anything near a major share holder. I just want them to make good games and be successful because of that. I think it's the senior management that's the problem. They are the ones that should be making it clear to the shareholders what creates growth and ensures a future of their business. Not this weasle words garbage that she did on the interview. It was horrific. I don't know a shareholder that would be happy with any of them for this.

Profchaos1d 1h ago (Edited 1d 1h ago )

Same and I'm not rich by any stretch like most people's I'm just trying to keep my head above water these days most company's shareholders are made up of everyday people it's amazing how companies think we want something but the reality is we don't.

Disney are probably the worse at the moment it's shareholders voted on ending a lot of the crap and outing the current execs the execs turned around and said no we disagree with the shareholder vote

PRIMORDUS21h ago

I meant at the rich fucks who have millions in the bank already. They are making so much per year, that if they don't make what they are expecting they go into a panic, when in reality it will not even hurt them at all. Those are greedy assholes.

anast12h ago

"you have a pension then you are likely to be a shareholder"

Pensioners don't make any decisions about anything. Obviously that is not what this is about.

CrimsonWing691d 7h ago

Yea, it was and it’s insulting that they think we’re dumb enough to fall for this. Look, the truth was you took a gamble on these studios and while they released some games to critical praise and great reception they just aren’t bringing in a ROI. Be transparent, you’re not a politician.

Just tell everyone you spend money on projects big and small and when money isn’t being made you go over the potential of revenue a studio can bring in vs those that can’t and make the hard decision to chop them.

She says this whole thing about “success” doesn’t fit one meaning for each studio. Well yea, a small budget production isn’t going to expect to sell the same as a large budget production.

One thing I wish they did though was let Tango be an independent studio.

TheGamingHounds1d 6h ago

disheartening to see no regard for the human cost of business anymore
the bad decisions and judgements of these CEOs severely impact the frontliners
these fake responses are just salt on wounds
