I hope loot boxes go away

codelyoko2224d ago

I have a feeling they will but corporations are just going to come up with something even sneakier.

Gwiz2224d ago

She mentions cloud gaming and that should tell you enough.

Zabatsu2224d ago

Yep, gaming Netflix here we come.

Highlife2223d ago

They sure will. I remember the good old days when maps where made by the community. Unreal tournament had so many maps and mods and they were free. Same with half life.

KaiPow2224d ago

I think they're fine for cosmetics, but some companies are REALLY going overboard with the stuff.

ocelot072224d ago

Thing is though it's not. I don't see the point in having to gamble and hope you get the skin for the gun you wanted. Or the hat you wanted for your in game character. Why not just go onto the in game store and buy it with in game points or real money. Am not happy with MT's but I much rather have MT's than gambling boxes.

rpvenom2224d ago

Sigh, I missed the days like when Soul Caliber 5 had free and vast list of custom cosmetics at no cost...

I think they have started to go away. Star Wars had gotten rid of them. Shadow Of War is getting rid of them plenty of developers have felt the need to come out and say there up coming titles will not feature loot boxes.

They are all going back to what it was like 2 years ago. Where most games will have micro transactions. Which is still really crap. But much better than having to gamble to get what ever item you want.

Not only that but devs will be(should be) weary of progression altering/tying MTs as well. This s*** is not taken lightly anymore.

Edit: Damn Jade is sexy as hell!!

"Well look, I mean, the team worked really hard on that game and I’ve gotta say there were obviously some big learnings to take away and the team at DICE has been continuing to work really hard. EA is a learning company, so we are really focused on how we improve and obviously don’t make those kinds of same mistakes again."

You had to learn not to screw your customers ? Really lol

-Foxtrot2224d ago

Thing is that’s not really hard work when the game without MTs is crap so don’t know what she’s smoking

DVAcme2224d ago

Screw EA. They've been around since the Atari 2600. They should have gone past the "learning company" phase decades ago.

rainslacker2223d ago

I'm almost tempted to go back and look at all the other times over last gen where EA said they're learning from their customers, when they do something that pisses people off. It usually was in relation to DLC or MT.

It's boilerplate PR for them by now.

As far as the cloud gaming stuff goes, they always say how they're looking at new and exciting ways to be innovative when they look for new ways to fleece the user for money.

MS and EA make good bed fellows really.

They both make a lot of money, and both tend to be 2 of the more disliked companies in the industry due to their policies and practices.

Muzikguy2223d ago

She’s full of 💩. A company like EA saying anything about not making the same mistakes is hilarious. They’ve been doing it for 2 generations now

I've never really known EA to be a "learning company". Or at least not in the way of learning good habits. Cloud gaming certainly has huge possibilities, and it likely is the future, but I can't see it being utilised at it's best for a while.

Tru_Blu2224d ago

Play a round of BF1 and you'll get your answer. 40 of the 64 players will have a ping of 100+, 30 of the 64 will be in the 200+ range and a few will be up over 300. Good luck syncing up cloud gaming to work with those variations.

FinalFantasyFanatic2223d ago

I can't see cloud gaming being a serious option until the telecommunication networks get upgraded. I think it's safe to say that it's a way off yet.

MWH2224d ago (Edited 2224d ago )

they learn, but within the circle of the Evil Art of Steal.

it's in the game.

" Well look, I mean, the team worked really hard on that game and I’ve gotta say there were obviously some big L(ironically this word was caught by spellcheck, there that's better)earnings to take away and the team at DICE has been continuing to work really hard. EA is a L(Damn again, trying to fool spellcheck aye?)earning company, so we are really focused on how we improve and obviously don’t make those kinds of same mistakes again."
