With nothing to show but kinect titles for what feels like a decade, I'm inclined to disagree lol

coolbeans2262d ago

I think that would fall under the "just did different stuff" part of his comment.

Going from creating games to making avatar clothing was a big change. There was a big window of years in length where they no longer released traditional games. Their talents were wasted. It’s good that they’re ‘back’ doing what they do best.

We didn’t go away, we just went away for a bit lol. I’m glad it’s working out for them, I might pick it up one day. None of my friends have it so it’s kind for pointless for me.

They did just as much non Kinect stuff too...Kameo, Banjo, Perfect Dark, Viva piñata. Though I do hope to see some reboots happen to some of these franchises soon.

ChristMustDie2262d ago

They did some different stuff, but not a lot of it was any good!

maybelovehate2262d ago

I know it is cool to hate kinect and all, but I had a lot of fun with Kinect Sports. Ping Pong and Tennis in particular.

FallenAngel19842262d ago

The Rare quality went away for a long while

Even now they’re completely different from what they used to be since they’re focusing on live services and take a long while to produce one game instead doing multiple projects at a time like they used to

Concertoine2261d ago

I mean thats the nature of game developmemt changing though.

Josh Sawyer Reflects on Design Evolution: From Icewind Dale to Pentiment

Josh Sawyer is a name that has been familiar to RPG fans for decades. He's worked on Icewind Dale, Neverwinter Nights 2, Alpha Protocol, Fallout: New Vegas, Pillars of Eternity, and most recently Pentiment. How did he get into game development, how has his design philosophy changed over the years, and why did he decide to do Pentiment a little differently?

thorstein13h ago(Edited 13h ago)

Those are some great games. Icewind Dale I & II are underrated.

If Larian made Icewind Dale III, I'd lose my mind.

What a fantastic, thorough interview.
