Battletech Gets New Trailer Showing Simulation Gameplay and Open-Ended Campaign

A new trailer of Battletech shows how the game is actually a lot deeper than just beating other mechs in missions without consequences.

I'm so excited for this and Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries this year, once the ilClan novel and sourcebook release then then Battletech will be back in full force.

Don't know why but I saw Battletech and confused it with Robotech for a second and got all excited. :(

I've just really always wanted a good game or even like a live action movie would be cool if it was done really good. I have some nostalgic childhood memories of Robotech so it would be cool.

Yea, unfortunately Harmony Gold is completely unwilling to let anyone make a game using classic Robotech designs, it seems their only purpose in owning Robotech is to try and sue Battletech for designs that they had already changed years ago. Their recent lawsuit even includes purely Battletech designs that look nothing like the designs they claim they're infringing on.

Full disclosure I dont know enough about the differences between the two to really say, I always thought Macross and Robotech were essentially the same thing. I'm sure someone very passionate about this subject will rip me a new one now, lol.

Basically, Harmony Gold took three mecha series that have nothing to do with each other (Macross, Southern Cross, and Mospeada), and pieced them together, changing the story considerably at times in order to make them fit, and at times simply for arbitrary reasons.

Basically, Robotech is the Frankenstein of anime, and all the changes Harmony Gold made worsen the story and the depiction of the setting and characters by quite a bit.
