Oli Welch over at Eurogamer writes "Making an MMO out of the Halo franchise would be a "pretty challenging" undertaking that would involve the creation of a "whole new layer of fiction and new characters that don't currently exist" - and is a subject that has often been the subject of "heated discussions" at Bungie."

The List: 5 Singleplayer Games That Could Be MMOs

David Jagneaux of MMORPG writes: "As has become customary here at MMORPG, this week’s list is the reverse of last week’s! Previously, we covered five MMOs that we think could be turned into great singleplayer games. Now, we want to look at five singleplayer games that could be turned into great MMOs. With the extreme level variety the genre we know and love experiences in today’s industry, there is plenty of room for new concepts. In fact, several of the games on this list already have MMO-esque counterparts on the market in the form of different IPs."

Wow...aside from Pokemon...replace with red dead...and thats my list too.

Now...I love mmo's. I do for so many reasons. Good mmos have few draw backs. I ALSO love single player rpgs. And if done right, a company could make an epic single player mmo. Hear me out.

My example is Dragons Dogma. It has an amazing single player experience...very rewarding. Why? Because u could create ur own pawn that others could borrow. They could have easily been real players in an mmo. At the end, there is the online UR dragon, but also a rich endgame dungeon with many monsters and great loot.

Now, if a company could manage to offer something akin to Dragons Dogmas system for those who want to play alone, allows them to borrow other ppls pawns for example. It could work. It would need balancing.

For those who want the mmo experience, they simply group up and tackle things together. They also hav the pawn option in case they want to use it and level it.

Now, maybe single player content is a bit easier or comes later with a buff...and its loot would need to be a lower level, but it would giv all those who dont want to group up to continue playing.

Microsoft does not want PC platform game they want console game. and MMO RPG are dead on consoles. name 5 that did well and profitable list stops at 2.

the company that made halo is making a MMORPG but not halo as they do not own it.
