The Witcher 2 Xbox One X Enhanced Graphics vs Performance Mode Comprison

The Witcher 2 update takes a little over 600 MB. This is not much, but it was enough for the CD Projekt RED to make this game even more beautiful. Latest patch gave an opportunity to play this game with two display modes on Xbox One X. Graphics Mode allows to enjoy the story with crystal crisp textures, better anti-aliasing, improved shadows, etc. Second option is Performance mode. By selecting it we’ll see the game with standard enhancements given by the regular Backward Compatibility feature. Let’s have a look on direct comparisons of both display modes to see the difference better.

in a 1080p highly compressed youtube video I can still see a ton of improvement in overall sharpness (you can see lots of crawl and aliasing on the lower res version), keep in mind this is nowhere near the real quality.

I can see a difference in the thumbnail, improved clarity/sharpness on the brick wall and cart for example.

Not much admittly but something for free nonetheless and I doubt either mode is stressing the hardware much meaning little need to drop the visuals in ‘performance mode’.

it is quite a bit of difference actually, especially on a bigger screen.

Are you serious? Are you watching the video at 480p?

Luckily for you, you live in an age where Lasik is available

Then watch it how you’re supposed to, on a 4k screen... not a smartphone, not a laptop, not a 1080p screen. Also you need to make sure whatever you are watching on is either recorded at AND playing back at 60fps. Most devices default to 30. These videos don’t always do that. DF are the only people that actually can record 4k/hdr and provide lossless downloads of source videos.

. Sorry but people who say that on these internet comparison videos are clueless. You can’t see differences as well in 1080p with 264 compression because you are literally missing most of the pixels and slathering the rest in a coat of compression which removes any subtleties and sharpness. It’s also why I don’t really value the opinion of anyone who bases theirs on these videos, having never touched a one x. When you see it in action 1:1 in 4k on a 4k screen at 60fps (if refreshing at that) there is a level of quality and crispness these videos can’t show, and obviously because they require a screen capable of doing that to show you that.

It’s like someone rating a sports car based on driving a minivan.

Improving old games aint gonna increase ur install base microshaft.

To be fair, why wouldn't you want the potential to put your Witcher 2 disk into a new console and have it run better on the new hardware? Why wouldn't you want past purchases to come forward on the new hardware? This is nothing but a positive move, no matter what side of the divide you're on.

5 Times CD Projekt RED Stole Our Hearts

Over the last decade, CD Projekt RED has asserted itself as the preeminent developer of single-player RPG experiences and DRM-free video game distribution.  The impact of GOG alone on the accessibility of old games would be enough to win over PC gamers, but the Witcher franchise has gone on to define a new standard of […]

They certainly stole mine. As far as I'm concerned, CDPR is the light of the gaming industry. They are showing the way for everyone else. I'll be buying Cyberpunk 2077 on day one because I know CDPR respects me as a customer.

On the other hand, I keep a 10 foot pole between me and anything labeled "EA". I'd rather get anally probed than submit to EA's ridiculous BS.

Yeah like when they excluded PoC from the game. Bunch of bigots lol
