Games!!!!😊😊 The console should continue to sell well especially since all the upcoming exclusives aren't out yet.

_-EDMIX-_2284d ago

Exactly easily the top five is games
more games
some other games
and more games
and probably announcements of more games...

TimelessDbz2283d ago

Hopefully they do their press conference right this time. Last year E3 conference was awful and honestly they better not show any games they have shown gameplay before . Just show new games and actually do a press conference not a playlist of trailers.

_-EDMIX-_2283d ago

Yeah I could care less how they do their events I just care about results, at the end of the day you start to realize how dumb it is to cry about how they're putting on event in regards to entertainment.

Trust me when other Publishers don't even have crap coming out for the entire generation and you're seeing them run into cancellation after cancellation and then closed down multiple Studios, you start to realize how stupid it is to really care about such dumb things.

I don't care if they just show a series of trailers with zero stage ,no lights or anything so long as I'm actually getting games in the end result.

So like I said I don't really care about how entertaining the Press event is I simply care that I'm actually getting games as the end result.

'5: The PS4 Won’t Sell as Well as It Used To'
That's a bold statement!

mocaak2283d ago

Last year PS4 had record number of sales, and this year with huge games like GOW, Spider-Man, RDR 2, and Monster Hunter already blowing up in Japan, I don't see why it would slow down.

Firstly, most know this, but: I am a staunch PlayStation supporter and consider it a contender for my favorite console—ever. And,I've being playing since Atari 2600.

PlayStation sales are almost guaranteed to slow. This is based on historical, statistical fact.

EDIT: For those who prefer graphs:
https://arstechnica.com/gam...

OB1Biker2282d ago

That article was from last year. Hey it looks like they were wrong, doesn't it?
Seriously I'm not really bothered but this year might be it's peak and many thinks so.

Xenophon_York2282d ago (Edited 2282d ago )

Historical statistics aren't guarantees, but if I were placing my reputation on the line I wouldn't let ego, hubris, hotheadedness and gut-guesses determine my opinion. Not that I think that's what you did by posting your reply, OB1Biker. EDIT: Though, I did just notice you were unnecessarily being a jerk with the whole "last year" comment, so: I don't care if you think I think you're a falsely-confident flake or not.

In any case, I'm sure the fact this is the first generation Sony has did a mid-gen Pro model will have some effect on the typical cycle sales trend. But, overall it will follow 'closely'—that is to state, within ten-to-fifteen percent variance—to previous generations' end of life downward sales slope.

EDIT: And one more thing: Last year was less than two months ago.

PhoenixUp2284d ago

“A price drop is likely considering how this generation of console hardware is slated to be shorter than that of the PS3 and Xbox 360’s, too.”

A $250 PS4 is inevitable. However I don’t see the next PlayStation or Xbox consoles coming any sooner than 2020, which would have the current iterations being the primary systems for 7 years just like PS3 before it.

yellowgerbil2284d ago

All I want is the same thing I've wanted since 2013, DREAMS. Give me that game and I'm set

_-EDMIX-_2284d ago (Edited 2284d ago )

I hope they have a release date for a WiLD,i know the developer on Twitter gave like a hint of an announcement coming up.

PlayStation Has Bend Studio in “Evolving, Multi-Genre” Category for In-Development Project

While Sony hasn’t revealed what some of its first-party studios like Housemarque is cooking currently, the company has revealed what focus they’re aiming for at the very least.

senorfartcushion43m ago

If it's live service it's a "no" from me. I'll take a Days Gone sequel though...

Cacabunga39m ago

It’s confirmed Bend Studio next game is gaas… what a shame!

And why Returnal thumbnail?

cthulhucultist38m ago(Edited 38m ago)

According to this article
https://wccftech.com/playst...

QUOTE

"In today's Business Segment Meeting 2024 for its Game & Network Services Segment, Sony confirmed the names of the seven studios focusing on single-player games with a narrative focus - Asobi, Insomniac Games, Santa Monica Studio, Sucker Punch, Naughty Dog, Firesprite and Housemarque, and the nine working on pure live service games or hybrid titles - Bungie, San Diego Studio, Firewalk, Haven and Neon Koi for pure live service games and Guerrilla Games, Polyphony, Media Molecule and Bend Studio. "

UNQUOTE

it seems that Bend was placed in the live service game category

Psychonaut8527m ago

Glad Housemarque isn’t doing live service. And Guerrilla is doing a hybrid title? Wonder what that’s gunna look like. Makes me nervous

-Foxtrot14m ago(Edited 14m ago)

Seven for single player but nine for GaaS

Come on Sony…sigh

You don’t need 9 GaaS titles. It’s over saturation and competing for players time with your own studios

cthulhucultist1m ago

@Psychonaut85
I am also curious about that one. Guerrilla is a top tier developer, and I like their single player games.

I really hope they dont ruin this

-Foxtrot16m ago

The funny thing is the cancelled sequel to Days Gone sounded like they were pitching this online co-op focused game which just didn’t sound appealing to me at all

I loved the first game despite its flaws but the sequel needed work yet they wanted to jump to online and co-op…that’s a massive red flag. Sort your main issues first before trying to do more complicated things.

Avowed Moved to Unreal Engine 5.3

With Support from The Coalition

ThinkThink1d 16h ago

That's great news. Hopefully the Coalition can smooth some of those edges from the last Avowed reveal.

phoenixwing1d 14h ago (Edited 1d 13h ago )

Well I'm annoyed. Especially at all the ppl who said the graphics sucked. It's your fault they probably shifted the game to unreal so it could look more fancy for you. I was ok with it and hoping to actually play it sometime soon. Now it's like 99% chance it's delayed.
Edit: effing graphics whores

Obscure_Observer1d 5h ago

"Well I'm annoyed. Especially at all the ppl who said the graphics sucked. It's your fault they probably shifted the game to unreal so it could look more fancy for you."

What the hell are you talking about dude? Avowed was already in development using the UE5. The Coalition is just helping Obsidian in the transition to its latest version (5.3)

MrBaskerville1d 4h ago (Edited 1d 3h ago )

Probably not even that big of a difference. Coalition might only have helped because they got a deadline to meet.

Unreal isn't nearly as bad as Unity when you update a project. Though it obviously depends on the project. But unity generally gets an aneyurism if you threaten to update, where Ue is usually less stingy.

Reaper22_1d 3h ago

In excited for Avowed and Gears 6.

Fishy Fingers1d 5h ago

It already was Unreal 5, its just moving to the latest build.

CantThinkOfAUsername20h ago

Latest build is 5.4 and it's better than previous iterations, particularly in animation and performance.

Lightning771d 13h ago

Apparently the latest build looks way better graphically. This rumor from Jez Cordin (who's credible) pretty much confirms it.

Interested in seeing more on Avowed in a few weeks.

Notellin1d 4h ago

UE 5.3 has been out since September of last year. I can't believe this is news or that anyone is hyping this up.

MrNinosan1d 4h ago

As Hellblade failed to set the world on fire, just like Halo Infinite and Starfield before it, it's time to look forward to the next Game of the Decade candidate.
Of course it needs to be hyped up ahead of time 😏

Notellin21h ago

I didn't mean the game itself. I can't believe there is a news article about an Unreal Engine update that launched a year ago.

Reading comprehension is tough for fanboys on N4G.

got_dam12h ago(Edited 12h ago)

@MrNinosan I just want to see what Obsidian can do with a real budget and development time. They have a made a some memorable games with massive time constraints an lackluster funding.

--Onilink--10h ago

Many games stick to a specific version of the Engine they had already been using to avoid delays, problems with migrations to newer stuff etc.
The version being released in September isnt really relevant, just that they decided to make the jump to it at some point in development, which is arguably good news since we know with each iteration, performance has been getting much better

MrNinosan6h ago

@got_dam
I actually look forward to Avowed, and hope that's the game that finally make my purchase of Series X in 2020 worth it.
The game I actually bought Series X for was Starfield, but sadly it didn't do it for me.

Avowed however has the potential to be incredible.

ThinkThink17m ago

MrNinosan, what is the last game that set the world on fire? Red Dead? GTA likely. Not every game has to set the world on fire. Those games that you mentioned fall into the 80's meta critic, and a lot of people enjoy them. And yes, I'm excited to see some of these 2024 games at the june conference.

truthBombs1d 4h ago

I liked the games unique artstyle when It was revealed. I hope they're not making the migration based on criticism. It's only a rumor anyways

MrBaskerville1d 3h ago

I imagine the art style will stay the same. But there'll probably be some visual upgrades here and there.

anast1d 3h ago

This was the only game I was jealous of, but It's a wait and see game now. Plus, I can wait until they release it on PSN.

Miraak82 1d 2h ago

Right!!! Obsidian is like only XB GS that I wanna play there games . Pillars of Eternity is one of my fav game franchises and I'd love to step back into the world of Eora . Their world building and rpg systems are one of the best , I hope XB higher ups don't get in the way of them. If they released it on ps I would definitely buy it day 1

anast23h ago

I bought both Pillars for PC and Console. Good games.

Steam Account Transfer Via Will on Death is Not Permitted, Valve Confirms

In case you were curious, a Steam account transfer via will is not permitted according to an official response from Valve.

anast1d 23h ago

The games are theirs. People just pay to ride the ride.

Skuletor1d 6h ago

Would be nice if the article's writer looked into and reported whether other digital game libraries could be transferred over via will (Xbox, Playstation, Nintendo, EGS, EA app, GOG, Ubisoft Connect, Rockstar Launcher etc) instead of this half-baked piece but it's probably the same for all of them anyway

Kornholic1d 6h ago

This seems like a way bigger issue than mandatory PSN account linking for PlayStation games.

So where is the outcry?

Skuletor1d 5h ago

It's not like PlayStation is doing any different.

"You may not sell, buy, trade, or transfer your Online ID, Account or any personal access to PSN Services through any means or method, including by use of web sites."
https://www.playstation.com...

Kornholic10h ago

So you are that saying Steam is being very anti consumer with its policies. That's why I'm so baffled by the lack of outcry from the PC audience.

NotoriousWhiz1d 5h ago (Edited 1d 5h ago )

It's not like your account just stops working when you die. Include your email, account id, and password in the will (including the password to your email) and your survivors should have no problem using your games.

anast1d 3h ago

PC gamers are a different lot. They don't mind renting their games forever, they don't mind spending money on overpriced equipment, and they don't mind fiddling with settings for hours before they even play the game, but linking a PSN account demands a riot. This is hard to understand, but then again, we all have to draw our lines somewhere.

Skuletor1d 2h ago

You sure talk a lot of nonsense.Go look up the percentage of digital sales compared to physical sales of PS5 games, then tell me again about "renting" games.

mandf1d 2h ago

Overblown funny and 100percent true

anast1d 1h ago (Edited 1d 1h ago )

There is no option at all to buy a physical copy of a PC game... And more people game on consoles for the reasons that make PC gamers a different lot.

VIK21211d ago

it's not so much the linking but the fact that certain countries aren't allowed to access psn...

VIK21211d ago

@anast I have a disc ps5 since launch, initially I bought some disc games, but I can't be bothered to walk to a physical store nowadays... I just buy the titles when they go on special sale or gray market store like CDKeys...

DustMan23h ago

PSN was a different story altogether. It kept people who bought the game from playing in countries that PSN wasn't supported. I never understood the issue anyway.

I don't know if PC stuff is overpriced considering that you can buy a new video card with the same amount of money you'd spend over 5 or 6 years paying to play games online with a console. I'll never pay double to use the same connection. That is what I'll never understand about console gamers. "let me pay an extra hundred & twenty dollars a year to use the same internet I pay for monthly and use on literally every device in my home for free....except for my Playstation"

Extermin8or3_23h ago

@Skuletor about 50-60% of sales are digital for most games. Meaning 40-50% are physical....

anast23h ago

@VIK

You might not but you are not the expectation that creates a universal.

Skuletor21h ago

@Extermin8or3_
Right and where are you getting that information from?
https://www.statista.com/st...

@anast

"Renting games"
In the fourth fiscal quarter of 2023, approximately 77 percent of Sony Corporation's PlayStation gaming sales were generated via digital downloads.

"overpriced equipment"
Some people are willing to pay a premium for better performance, the way you keep talking about the PS5 Pro on N4G proves you're a hypocrite in that regard but whatever, lol

"fiddling with settings for hours before they even play the game"
Most pc games will give the option to scan your system to choose recommended settings or start with moderate settings that will run the game fine but you're free to mess around at your own leisure, to improve performance or quality if you wish to. For those that don't want to, there's free software that can do that for you, such as Nvidia's Geforce or AMD's AMD Catalyst. Geforce Experience even gives you the option of choosing whether to prioritize performance vs image quality with a simple slider for easy optimization, it's not rocket science, like you try make it out to be.

"linking a PSN account demands a riot"
Playstation selling Helldivers 2 in regions without the legal means to create a PSN account by Sony's own standards, then telling people in those regions that already bought the game that they can no longer play the game, isn't a cause for concern? Though you've already heard about that but keep going along with your own narrative because of your weird vendetta against PC on here.

This is hard to understand, but then again, we all have to draw our lines somewhere.

PRIMORDUS16h ago

I don't rent I torrent to keep, if they take them down that's ok I don't care I have them LOL. I do buy PC games but very little as I want full control which is why I torrent to keep them in my collection, and I do not give a fuck what the devs or publishers want. I never did never will.

anast3h ago

@DustMan

Just like you can choose play games on low to barely mid settings for the price of a PS5, you can also choose not to game online on the PS5. So, now you are getting a better gaming experience and not paying extra for online.

Keep the password sealed in the Will, only to be opened after death. :)

Right? How are they gonna know you are dead?

FinalFantasyFanatic23h ago

The only way they will know is when an account is active for 300 years, lol.
