Fortnite PS4 Pro (1080p) vs. Xbox One X (4K) Comparison: Big Resolution Difference At 60 FPS

Fornite runs at native 1080p on the PS4 Pro when using the 30 FPS mode while the resolution switches to dynamic 1080p when running at 60 FPS. Xbox One X runs at full 4K in 30 FPS mode and the resolution can drop to dynamic 4K during 60 FPS mode, but it is still leagues above the PS4 Pro version in term of visual fidelity.

lol. Yeah not much difference in power between pro and x at all.... said no reasonable person or one x users

SurgicalMenace2275d ago

No reasonable person has stopped paying attention to how much all that power doesn't matter when you are releasing games that make your console standout from all the other ones. TRUE 4K is little incentive to expect gamers to ignore some of the greatest gaming experiences to be offered on a console. I continue to hear about PUBG, but once it's on Playstation then what? Yet another game they'll all be playing too, at a slightly lower resolution, who cares? Being able to play the game is what is most important. It would be a great accomplishment, if the community of gamers stopped trying to be better than the next person by proving that they've chosen the best form of entertaiment. There are great experiences on all the console, tbh, and that has little to do with power. JS

So before the X, did you not advocate for the X1? If so, that should be all the evidence you need to prove my point. It just seems like Xboxers are grabbing at straws to have anything over the Playstation, even though the Playstation is clearly winning hand over fist.

LateNightThirst2275d ago

Exclusives def matter, but PS fanboys blow it out proportion how important they actually are. If they dominated the sales chart month in and month out, you'd have a point and it be proven through numbers. But games like MHW, NBA 2K, GTA 5, COD and other multiplats dominate each respective consoles sales charts, so it really isn't as important to the general gamer. As for power, it def matters, it just doesn't to the casual base anymore solely because they buy their consoles based on who is gaming where and the core gaming audience made it very well known that the PS4's extra power made it the best place to play

BradsGamingPlace2275d ago

You have won my heart with this comment. Gaming is about the games. It doesn't matter if it came from a PS1, or an Xbox One X. The experiences are what we should be after.

CP_Company2275d ago

If power would matter, all gamers would play on PC. Still PS4 and Switch outselling massively xbox x by million on millions, and the same with PC.

SurgicalMenace2275d ago

Casuals, huh? I am very hardcore for my gaming, owning over 9,000 physical games and playing on the best Tvs the industry can offer(LG C7 Oled and Sony A1E Oled). One does not put 100s of thousands into gaming if they're casual. Furthermore, it has nothing to do with power, as with or without it the game is still able to be played. Please stop combining the delusion of elitism with a false sense of necessity which is 4K. Again, if the X never released, would you not still be supporting it?

Yes 4K is clear, but it adds little to my decision of whether I'm going to play a game or not. Hell every game that is multiplat, I purchase on the PS4. Why? Because TRUE 4K is not incentive enough for me to ignore some of the best gaming experiences on the console. Furthermore, Sony does a great job at presenting opportunities to experience something new and different, and any hardcore gamer will be excited for that. I will support them wholeheartedly, because I want them to continue. Where as my Xbox suffers because I am willing to speak with my wallet, as are many others, in hopes that Microsoft will acknowledge the demand for more than Gears, Forza, and Halo.

Death2275d ago

@Menace,

You don’t buy games in your Xbox because 4K doesn’t impress you, but you buy the same games you could have bought for your Xbox on PS4 because it offers some of the best experiences? That makes zero sense if you own both a PS4 and an Xbox One X. If you don’t own an Xbox that’s a valid reason you give. Your entire post doesn’t seem credible since it’s very contradicting.

SurgicalMenace2274d ago

Death

Put simply, in am going to buy games for the system that gives me the most reason to turn it on. Clarity bumps are not enough incentive for me. Meaning that since I am already on my PlayStation playing other games, why purchase same said games for another console. You know, ease of access or what not. Lol Credible?

Zabatsu2275d ago

Of course power also matters, but that definitely isn't the deal breaker for most, the games are and that's exactly the reason as to why the Ps4 and Switch are there at the top, when Xbox isn't :)

Cyborgg2276d ago (Edited 2276d ago )

PUBG developer should take notice. Epic knows how to do it 😁

Kribwalker2276d ago

it is Epics own engine too which prolly helps. But i do hope pubg hits 60fps as it’s already 4k on the onex

Kumakai2276d ago

FN is more polished but PUBG just feels more... tense. And stressful. In a good way. Feels more realistic. FN is fun but I don’t get the same vibe.

yeahokwhatever2275d ago

and all of the fun comes from the intense feeling that Fortnite doesn't even touch. Also, first person makes a huge difference with immersion. Fortnite feels less like a battle royale, and more like a free for all, which Call of Duty does much better anyways.

Kribwalker2275d ago

@yeah

The intensity is what makes PUBG more fun. Also, Pubg is mostly played 3rd person. You can play on servers that are 3rd and Fps and servers that are just FP.

DrunkAddict2276d ago

The difference between Xbox One X and PS4 Pro is much bigger than the base consoles. PS4 Pro also runs Fortnite at 1080p which is a small difference compared to the PS4 unlike the Xbox One X to Xbox One.

In bigger news,PS5 incoming 2020

darthv722275d ago

not really bigger... it was already expected

thexmanone2275d ago

Then 2021 Xbox One X2, . Even bigger news

Pantz2275d ago

Can you imagine how powerful the X2 will be? Plus it will play 5 generations of Xbox Game with their growing backwards compatibility library!

badz1492275d ago

LOL you really think MS will give Sony the headstart next gen? the PS4 only had a 1 month head start this gen and is already running circles around the xbone sale-wise. can you imagine it being one year? oh yeah, we can. it happened before with the PS2 and it went on to sell over 150mil and the Xbox flopped at around 25mil

Profchaos2275d ago

Late to market always means they come off second best though despite specs

Death2275d ago

@badz,

You are comparing the original Xbox which was non existent to a follow up console that already had a 100+ million fan base? Both the PS3 and Wii launched a year after the 360. The Wii ended up outselling both of its rivals. I don’t think launches dates are as important as you want to believe. Xbox doesn’t have the same worldwide appeal PlayStation has. Launching in the same timeframe is irrelevant.

ZeroX98762275d ago

As a PC owner, I do love those console fanboy arguments about their budget gaming hardware :)
Would love to be able to just modify my console and get the experience I want at the price I'm ready to pay for. I know not everyone can, but some of us definitely can. Always loved the ease of setup of a console and their great UI, but hate the fact that were limited with so little options in the power department.

PowerOfTheCloud2275d ago

Badz

Even with an headstart in xbox 2 favor, sales will probably be even be worse than the x1 laughable numbers because ms damaged xbox image so bad and therefore def lost many future customers who don't belong to the xbox fanbase or usually are multi console owners and got burnt with x1's exclusives draught.

Obscure_Observer2274d ago

@badz149

"LOL you really think MS will give Sony the headstart next gen?"

Of course they will. How things turn out for the X after 1 year later in comparisson with the Pro? Success! In US (according to Amazon) Xbox One X is outselling the PS4 Pro since November 2017.

If the PS5 releases in 2020, you can bet all you want that the X2 is gonna be around the corner set to be released on year later, and probably will be the most powerful console, again.

DarkZane2274d ago

@Obscure_Observer

If MS give Sony a one year headstart, then they also give them the victory. The PS3, even though it was released one year later, managed to catch up and outsell the 360 in the end because Playstation has worldwide appeal.

If the next Xbox launch 1 year later, they don't have worldwide appeal and they barely matter in USA anymore. It would be simply impossible for the Xbox brand, which is too insignificant, to catch up to Sony that will have a year headstart.

Also, you seem to think the PS5 and X2 will be like the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X. You xbox fanboys don't seem to have realized that Sony aren't stupid like Microsoft. They realized midgen upgrades didn't matter that much, so they went cheap to make a little more money. Meanwhile, Microsoft blew their entire load on a console that they're likely selling at a loss for a midgen upgrade that won't matter.

Meanwhile, you can be sure Sony won't do the same with the PS5, since it's a new generation, they won't do like they did with the PS4 Pro. Even if Microsoft release their console 1 year later, the difference in power will be much smaller and it will likely be more expensive because they are terrible with hardware and can't make one at a decent price. So in the end, Sony will get all the third party support because they will have more consoles out there and the difference in power will be too small.

Xbox is a joke. The only success Microsoft will ever have is with the 360. Even at their best, Microsoft with the 360 couldn't beat Sony at their worst with the PS3. It's pretty obvious Microsoft will never win.

"..an interesting game many have no interest in playing" ....what? For those many people, there are also many that love it and play it a ton. This is a really dumb article.

Fortnite is the most popular game in the world. I doubt Epic needs help from fraghero.com.
