It isn't very well thought out, but it works. Most of the time haha.

dirkdady2305d ago

Can someone explain if this is a legit problem or a non issue? From what I read you just have to wait until the other player finishes watching th cut scenes before rejoining? Seems annoying but not really a deal breaker unless I'm missing something here..?

Story missions only, once you see the monster you can send an sos, after you’ve failed once you can all go in. All other hunts you can all go in at the same time. The expeditions you have to fire a flare once you get where you want to hunt. Granted the squad/guild system is kinda weird but meh. It’s not normal and but it’s not an issues once you have your squads situated, you also don’t have to squad up to fight mp

Zer0. that sums up. But you don't necessarily have to fail. You can hit the objectives, usually, yes, which means spot a monster then just leave from the options menu.

dirkdady. as for the question. it's really a non issue. It's only the story missions that are like this. You can post investigations and other events for you and friends to join freely. Though the setup is tricky and a bit backward for a game in 2018 once you figure out how it all works it's not a problem at all. It could be much better & easier but for all purposes works.

Hope theyll just patch the game so that friends can just join u right away on story missions. And also just have ppl the ability to join friend's sessions without having to be invited...unless you can already do that?

FullmetalRoyale2305d ago

If you create, and invite a friend to, a squad you can join friends without being invited. Once you’ve got another person in a squad; you start up the game, select online session, then squad session. If you friend also does the same thing just before or after you, you’ll be joined together.
And you’ll be the only people who can see each other’s posted quests.

Ok thanks. BUT can you play STORY missions together (with friend) using your method? (caps are for emphasis). I also tried your method, but on optional mission once, and then it seperated us after we were done. very annoying. why not just put us back together in the gathering hall?

Jaypi032305d ago

@Mista2018 from what i've played, it depends on the story mission honestly, I think heavily scripted missions i've played usually only allow 1 player, but story missions that are just hunting a monster or something usually allow me to ready more than 1 player at a time, or allow an SOS.

when hunting for a new monster never hunted before, start the quest alone and right after seeing the cutscene, you can invite friends over via either SOS flare or just join quest assigned.

FullmetalRoyale2305d ago

Once you get it going with a friend, it’s a blast. I wish we could run around together seamlessly, but we compensate by just saying what we are doing.
With Assigned Quests, you and your friend play(separately) until you can fire an s.o.s. flare. When you are able to call for help, both of you “return from mission,” and then one of you can post the assigned quest to play together.
Should it be better? Absolutely. But the good outweighs the bad significantly, and it’s a blast to hunt together.

I respect a dev's vision for their game. But in 2018, I would hope there would be no barriers in teaming up with your friends in an online co op adventure.

I sorta agree, but I wouldn't say it "spoils" anything, really it just feels like another obstacle. In some ways, I like how the multiplayer is, you feel like you're all apart of one big community or team, doing SOS missions to help out other hunters in need or something really helps, and allows for quicker grinding.

A Late Look: Monster Hunter: World

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "While it was a mixed pleasure overall - at times exhilarating, at others agonizing - I would have to say I enjoyed my time with Monster Hunter: World and found it to be surprisingly addicting. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that I was surprised by how little had changed from previous titles, given how this particular entry took the series to unheard levels of popularity, but while it retains both positives and negatives from them, at the very least it’s a stellar-looking game that brings more freedom to the hunt than any of its predecessors (Monster Hunter Rise could possibly be a different story, but that, my friends, is a game for another article)."
