Yesss been itching to play this game!!

mcstorm2306d ago

They need to relaunch this ip

gangsta_red2306d ago

If there was ever a game that needed a remake, remaster or anything of the sort it would be Black.

TheSplooge2306d ago

Such a great game for its time. Gonna have to try it out and see how it held up against time!

TheFirstClassic2306d ago

It's still pretty fun today, the story and cutscenes are pretty bad but the gameplay is still great, it was really ahead of its time.

Start working at home with Google! It’s by-far the best job I’ve had. Last Friday I got a brand new BMW since getting a check for $6474 this - 5 weeks past. I began this 6-months ago and immediately was bringing home at least $85 per hour.. Go this web and start your work.. Good luck.... http://www.Buzz70.com

Fist4achin2305d ago (Edited 2305d ago )

Do you think ditrabokku liked Black?!

morganfell2306d ago (Edited 2306d ago )

I really liked the game. It was referred to as Gun Porn. Too bad the devs couldn't duplicate the feeling in their follow-on. One thing about that article is this statement:

"Black is now Free on EA Access"

So it doesn't cost anything? The EA Access is free? That's like saying Multiplayer is free on Xbox and PlayStation. Its like saying Games for Gold or PS Plus games are free.

optimus2306d ago

well the description does say it's free "...for those that subscribe to the ea service..." way to take something out of context.... games for gold are partially free without subscription, when it comes to the 360 games offered that is. since you don't need a subscription to continue playing them once downloaded.

morganfell2306d ago

Did you bother to look where Black is now Free on EA Access was posted? In a nice bold title. We have enough dishonesty in the press without them posting it up top then clarifying below. I know you are desperate for something to play but that is just the way it is. It isn't free. Period. Like I said it is no different than Multiplayer on consoles. At some point you paid something. That isn't free.

optimus2306d ago (Edited 2306d ago )

that's simply the way YOU decide to look at it... it's free since you are not paying EXTRA for it....same way that certain dlc content in games are free...if you subscribed to ea access and black was not available 1 month ago but now it is, then by all accounts it's considered free. by your logic then if you google something in your house then you didn't get the information for free since you had to pay for your internet service...by the same token, watching local channels on your tv isn't free since you had to pay for the tv to watch them, and or the electricity. come on kid, you're really reaching for hatred here...be it for the writer of the article, ea, or xbox. you're just one of those nitpickers.

morganfell2306d ago (Edited 2306d ago )

But you are paying for it. Period. A TV has to have electricity to operate. TVs can get channels for free over the air. If you want certain cable stations you have to pay. Then when you get HBO, HBO isn't free just because you have basic cable. Its extra. You pay for it. Just like Black and EA Access.

A game console doesn't have to have EA Access or Multiplayer to still operate as a game console.

And you could just buy the game outright from Amazon or the MS Store.

Its simply the way YOU are deciding to look at it by pretending there isn't an associated cost.

The cost is there and nothing you can say will remove the fact the game isn't completely free.

EDIT: Its like saying you watched the Avengers for free because you have HBO. No you didn't, you paid for HBO. And you are paying for Black.

TheFirstClassic2306d ago

You are being overly anal about the wording

morganfell2306d ago (Edited 2306d ago )

The devil is in the details.

EDIT: You know, timed exclusive, console exclusive...free...

Bloodborne is a game I still restart and play every few months. I would welcome just a re release in 60fps with a visual upgrade. It's a perfect game. If I was king for a day I would include the randomizer mods because then it would be a kind of rogue like and I could play it forever.

gleepot372d ago

Sure, ill take a sequel to all of these.

RaidenBlack589d ago

agreed
a solid guns blazing casual single player experience

JTGA589d ago

Hundred percent. Criterion deserve another shot at this.

moriarty1889589d ago

Would love to see a Black 2. This game was incredible when it came out. Played it a lot and enjoyed it immensely.

Relientk77589d ago

Black is an awesome shooter. It sucks we never got a sequel.

fan_of_gaming589d ago

Great article, really insightful into the development process.

JTGA589d ago

Dude, thank you so much for this. Really appreciate the positivity!

banger88589d ago

Bodycount was sort of a spiritual successor to Black, but nowhere near as good. I liked Black, but it was hard. I never managed to beat it.

JTGA589d ago

Yeah I agree. Bodycount being deemed a "spiritual successor" always felt like an attempt to capitalise on the goodwill towards Black.

The Burnout team’s mold-breaking FPS deserves a better legacy

Polygon: Game designers face a great challenge: How can they demonstrate that a player’s basic actions are meaningful?

The developers of a game have to reinforce why each action is important, especially if I’m going to be repeating it thousands of times across the campaign. This is true whether I’m picking a flower or pulling the trigger of a gun.

It’s worth revisiting Black.

UltraNova1872d ago

So glad someone took the time to revisit this absolute gem of FPS...this game blew my face off back in the day. The enemy behavior, sound design, particle effects and general atmosphere was something short of a revelation at the time. This is perhaps my second favorite FPS title of all time and a close 2nd to Killzone 2.

Omnisonne1872d ago

I still remember the distinct metallic sound when shooting someones helmet off in Black, also the atmospheric lighting (something very new back then). So glad I picked it up when it released.

isarai1872d ago

To this day that game is more satisfying than most FPSs out there. Still blown away by the way it handled explosions and they their effectiveness is actually affected by rather they are indoors or outdoors (more lethal in enclosed spaces) and that if it's thrown into a small room with doors/windows the pressure wave will actually cause all windows and doors in that room to break and the explosion would actually expand out those openings

Omnisonne1872d ago

Damn I totally forgot about the destruction, tons of little details that made the game just really fun to play.

RosweeSon1872d ago

Deserves a sequel where many yearly churns don’t.

UltraNova1871d ago

Thanks to EA the team that made this gem was dissolved, so unless most of them team up under a new wing (or form their own studio) to make a spiritual successor to Black you should forget about a sequel.
