IGN writes: "Klonoa may not be as famous as other platforming icons like Mario or Sonic, but his solid gameplay and slick visuals have earned him a strong fanbase. The original PlayStation Klonoa game, Door to Phantomile (which received an 8 from IGN in 1998), is being remade for the Wii with updated graphics and a few other minor improvements. We got to check it out at Namco Bandai's TGS booth this year and are happy to report Klonoa has still got it.
Door to Phantomine is presented in 2.5D, meaning you usually can only move left and right but the world is rendered in 3D and there are moments when you can enter the fore and background. There is some slick camera work as, for instance, Klonoa spirals his way up a tree. This is a pretty visually impressive game, from the lush color palette to the great water effects. Klonoa's animation is well done."
Take a look at some PS1 game prices that have really taken off over the past 2 years. Some are trending much higher, but a few have dipped recently and it might be your last shot to get them into your collection affordably.
Nahima of Gaming Rebellion looks back at PS1 platformer Klonoa and why its colorful, cute setting is so memorable.
Gamers will probably never see another entry in Namco's dreamlike platform action series, and that's a darned shame.
I remember playing this back when it came out...
Those were the days!
