One can tell how good a game generally looks by the way the hair is rendered.

PS3 FFXIII renders hair much better than 360's Star Ocean.

Both games have the same status. Square-Enix is only working on the PS3 version of FFXIII and that's what they're only showing.
Same thing for Star Ocean. No one's seen PS3 footage of it yet.

thats probably because rpgs are very large in scale and story... to have a part 3, 4, 5 etc is very ambitious..

final fantasy gets away with it because they actually do different stories not related to each other.

think about how american tv shows start to suck because they try to stretch them out over 5 seasons

Nah your not by yourself with loving 3. They could have done the item creation better but I enjoyed the story(When I jumped through the gate and went into 4D space I flipped out) and the battle system and characters I think were done well. Albel was my favortite character though: It doesn't matter how many maggots you've got, i'll crush them all... priceless. I can't understand why this game blasted the way it does.

See, in order for the PS3 to run anything at 30fps at 540p, they have to chop out graphic detail by low poly's and characters and detail. The old graphics card and gimped memory relegates the PS3 to always looking worse than the same 360 title, as well as half the framerates. AKA MADDEN.

But then there are powerhouse games on the PS3 like Haze and Lair to showcase the power of the PS3. Well, I am sure the Wii and PS2 can run these games better, so I shouldn't of mentioned those.

But when even talented developers like 2K can't after a year, even match the 360 game with Bioshock, PS3 owners are getting quite used to dating the "Ugly Sister".

PS3, the console that picks up the scraps.

Oh, nice try, but you using ports of 360 games is a tired arguement. It's effectively nullified by the fact that games such as Killzone 2, Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank: Future and other excellent looking games that totally blow the look of most 360 games away. Yeah, HAZE was a piece of crap, as was LAIR. However, at least LAIR runs at 1080p.

You really think that porting code from the 360 to the PS3's development architecture is a 1:1 process, eh? Keep telling yourself that Unreal Engine games are the pinnacle of visual fidelity.

Now why again doesn't the 360 have any games that are 1080p and run at 60FPS like Wipeout HD?

Yep, LAIR was 1080p, and it was a stuttering freak of a sideshow. Sorry, that game failed miserably graphically. (IGN rated it 7.5 in graphics) But then again, it was an early release, unlike Bioshock with an extra year of development, and it can't even run as smooth or look as good as the 360 version.

Wipeout HD....ROTFLOL!!! Don't get me wrong, I have the game and find it fun, looks great and you can't beat the price. But lets get real, the graphics ain't nothing special and the game doesn't run at 1080p full time, actually when there are more that a few racers on screen, it drops the resolution to make up for the fact that the PS3 can't compute the relative simple environments with more than a few racers before dropping the framerates, which is far to common with PS3 games.

Killzone 2 is about the only game that I say comes close to GeOW 2, the lighting on Killzone looks better but the textures on Killzone are something to be desired.

Actually, after GeOW 2 is released, the only game that can be compared will be Killzone 2.

Give up the 1080p argument already, the PS3 has failed miserably on this front. Any games that run at 1080p on the PS3 either suffer horrible framerate drops and screen tearing, or the graphics are simple with low polys and blurry textures.

And you bet, Madden is a fantastic game to check actual power, with as many as 22 individual characters on screen at once doing individual tasks, physics and lighting, A.I and stadium renders with crowds, and guess what, 360 wins hands down.

Face it, PS3 has been a huge disappointment in performance, and their lagging sales shows the consumers are finding out that it's overpriced, over hyped and under performs.

Wipeout HD doesn't drop the resolution when there's more racers on screen. My TV blue screens for a moment when the source changes resolution.

Games don't just change resolution, and certainly not while racing. If it did it on the fly, my TV would be flashing like mad and the game would be unplayable.

I've said this before, and it's the truth.

It looks like Star Ocean 4 is using the same engine from 3, just with updated graphics.

You can tell by the animations easily. Even the main character's body and looks are extremely similar to Fayt from Star Ocean 3.

I'd still enjoy it cause I'm a Star Ocean fan, but if you want to have a real Star Ocean experience, get a PSP and the upcoming remakes of the first two games.

The character models are ALWAYS relatively low polygon count. The Unreal Engine is good at texturing to hide this, but if you have ever played Unreal Tournament 3 or Gears of War and have seen the textures pop in, you can see how low the poly counts on the models are before being textured up.

Yeah, Uncharted really is an amazing-looking game. The texturing, color and lighting all work towards an excellent visual appearance:

If anything I slightly agree with you, the 360 multiplats used to look and play better, but it is because of the 360 that all those ps3 multiplats are being held back in what they could have looked if programmed for the ps3 in the first place. Yeah and before you xbots all go and say why didn't haze look and play better. My responce is that Free Radical didn't do as good as they could of with it. I own a 360 also, and there have been a whole lot of turds on this system that should have been way better, considering it is being programmed for the 360 first. I will only name one because it was in development longer then Haze and was so shat when released. Too Human was just as much a turd for the 360 and it had plenty of time to be a good game. When Killzone 2 comes out anyone with a 360 and a pair of eyes will see what exclusives that are done well look like. Anyhow Lair looks better then any game on the 360 to this day and doesn't play bad with the downloadable patch, so get off that whole lair issue.

Is not made for CG real-time gaming. If you want to experience realistic CG right now, get MGS IV and look at the amazing physics, graphics, gameplay and everything else. Each character has over 500,000 polygons, ... Buildings have polygons, grounds, walls, streets. There is even wind blowing from different directions in the game. Kojima Production did a freaking awesome job in MGS IV.

But aside from this, I'm disappointed to hear Unreal Engine is actually used in Star Ocean 4 ... Seriously, that was a big let down. But hey, SE doesn't care because it is coming on the 360. MS wants it sooner than later? No problem, lets pull out the old kits with few upgrades here and there. Shame on MS ... Shame.
