PUBG Xbox One patch analysis: two steps forward, one step back

Eurogamer: Frame-rates improve, but performance is still poor overall - and netcode quality takes a hit.
One week on from its controversial launch, the Xbox One version of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has been patched, featuring a range of bugfixes and what the patch notes describe as a 'first pass' at visual and performance improvements, along with 'slightly improved' anti-aliasing. So what's actually changed? From our perspective, this patch is definitely a case of two steps forward, one step back.

The game needs extensive QA and code optimization.

Some would argue that's whats going on now with the game. They'll be constantly tweaking and optimizing in real-time until more improvements are made.

I liked how both of them said despite the issues they were still having fun playing it. Usually a game with all sorts of faults is not as fun to play because the faults are always there to remind you. That doesnt seem to be the case with this one. People playing it and enjoying themselves regardless.

I’m making over $15k a month working part time. I kept hearing other people tell me how much money they can make online so I decided to look into it. Well, it was all true and has totally changed my life. This is where i started>>> http://4u.fyi/4k9

I guess work a in progress, seems pretty typical of how games in general are launched today. Launch and fix in post, aaaaaaahhhhhhhh the good ol' days when they couldn't get away with that. Times have changed that's for sure.

UnHoly_One2356d ago

That's what game preview and early access is.

The games hasn't "launched" yet at all.

Version 1.0 was just released for PC. And it still has glaring issues. It's beyond the point of defending these guys. They aren't real developers...they are glorified modders. PUBG likely won't even be in the top 5 battle royale games a year from now.

UnHoly_One2356d ago

I don't care what version is on PC.

This is about Xbox, and on Xbox the game is still in preview.

It's not claiming to be "finished".

Two steps forward one step back is still a step forward by my math 🤔
