PlayStation VR’s Impressive Sales Boasts a Secure Future for VR

Sony’s recent announcement of 2 million PlayStation VR sales is good for the whole industry.

Once this thing hits $199 next year and you can also pick up a PS4 for $199 as well it will be madness.

A week or so ago, I predicted that PSVR will sell some 10 million units before the PS5 gets here (I am assuming 2019). But if we have to wait for 2020, then I can see it going for 15 million.

2+ million units in its first year on the market considering its price and given that the technology was still in its infancy. It's not hard to imagine that it will sell double that for 2018, bringing an additional 4+ million, to bring to the total user base to 6+ million by this time next year. Sony announced that they have 150 games coming for VR for 2018. And it only gets cheaper and cheaper from that point.

I imagine that 2019 you'll be able to purchase a PS4 and PSVR bundle for less than $300 with a HUGE catalog of games. It's going so snowball...

That's awesome! Although I'm more of a PC gamer who plans on purchasing a PIMAX 8K next year, I'm stoked to see the PSVR doing so well! The better the sales for any one VR tech, the better the growth for the whole VR community!.... who knows, I may still by a PSVR for my PS4 Pro also if the games keep coming!

Im not here to throw hate at this thing because i truly believe VR has its place and is the future of gaming, but, I was really disappointed when I purchased mine and the graphics on the launch games at least, it just was underwhelming for the $700+ dollars I was all in at. I sold it instead.

Im gonna buy another one someday soon if there are any upgrades down the line

The recent £250 price during black Friday week seemed to be a big hit here in the UK. Seems like it was the sweet spot for a lot of people. As soon as the price went down to £250 the stock ran dry within a day or so. V2 headset is now only just hitting stores in the UK along with camera and VR worlds plus a free game out of skyrim or doom or gt sport for £299 which is still a decent price.

It is not for me (as I am pretty much prone to motion sickness), but I am glad that it is doing well and I hope Sony keep on supporting it well into the future.

One day, when the technology is there to prevent motion sickness I will finally jump into VR.
