This Will Happen if We Let EA Win

Gamerekon:

Fellow gamers, we’re at a critical moment in gaming right now. EA’s horrible practices are being shined upon and other companies who want to use the same system are witnessing what their future could be like.

So let me get this straight....

Battlefront is bad, but GTA5 and Overwatch and Heroes of the Storm and Madden and Player Unknown Battle Ground and Call of Duty WW2 and Destiny 2 and possibly Red Dead Redemption 2 are good?

Hypocrites.

electricbanshi2356d ago

Battlefront got the rise out of everyone, it was the point gamers couldnt take it anymore. People were complaining about GTA and Shark Cards but not loud enough I guess. Maybe also cause it's rockstar....

_-EDMIX-_2356d ago

Lol no

People are not going to be complaining about GTA anywhere near the same extent because of many reasons.

One of the biggest reasons is actually because Grand Theft Autos popularity along with Rockstar. Another thing to take into consideration is Grand Theft Auto primarily is a single player base the game any of the content being released through microtransactions in regards to what's online is completely optional.

AspiringProGenji2356d ago (Edited 2356d ago )

Ahh please EA investor... This isn’t about any of those companies. Look at how EA had NFS, BF2, now UFC with the same P2W BS. They were confident gamer would eat eveything up and NO! That isn’t going to happen

I can only speak for Overwatch and that game doesnt have P2W loot boxes. I am still not a fan of the grind amd Epic drop rates, but at least it is not p2w like EA been trying to do

Profchaos2356d ago

GTA is ptw to some extent but you need to grind up to a certain level to use the equipment you pay for but if you choose not to pay everything is achievable within a decent timeframe.

Bf2 UFC and NFS however you can buy and use the best gear before you even open the tutorial plus the people who don't pay need to grind rediculas amounts of hours to get a fraction of the ptw content

_-EDMIX-_2356d ago

The way I see it I'm not sure it even matters even if Electronic Arts comes out with loot boxes that are exactly what OverWatch does you would still actually see multiple communities still complaining about this company for god sakes we saw people on this very site spreading misinformation of stuff that they read online. Was actually untrue.

I mean buddy I'm playing the damn game and I've read people on this very site trying to tell me it's going to take 40 hours to unlock a hero and I'm playing the game and letting them know that is completely false untrue and not what the current game is like.

So what this means is so much misinformation is spread about this game that I'm not even sure releasing the loot boxes with just customizable items with matter especially if you consider they're just going to call it microtransactions get angry and spread more clickbait articles.

I mean consider this when the original Star Wars Battlefront released in 2015 did you not have multiple articles complaining about the lack of content? So how many articles are you reading about how much content is inside Battlefront now that it has more modes more maps more weapons More Heroes in free downloadable content?

🤔🤔🤔&# 129300;

So that was so damn bad in the original Battlefront but suddenly when all of those things are addressed you don't want to talk about them? At the end of the day communities like this mainly want to focus on the negative they could care less about what is actually really being corrected.

All this actually proves is that the people dislike this publisher always disliked this publisher and it is actually difficult to tell if these people are actually communicating this because they really want a change in the community or simply because they dislike the publisher because I don't see most of you people talking about this on every single last Grand Theft Auto V article on this website.

So some of you prepared to boycott Red Dead Redemption 2 and write a series of articles for that as well?

Agheil2356d ago

They all need to stop apply this GAAS system in the end.

Nitrowolf22356d ago

People have complained about all those games

Shark cards are constantly being complained about, especially with take two recent microtransaction announcement for future games.

Destiny 2 is getting attacked by its community over the whole xp purposely lowered

Rdr2 already has complaints.

Battlefront just happened to be a far larger property because it didn't sit well not only with just gamers, but star wars fans in general, even those who don't play ganes

Liqu1d2356d ago

GTA isn't good. They've been making new content more and more expensive to encourage players to buy shark cards.

I don't like Overwatch's loot box system but at least it's only cosmetic.

PUBG isn't finished so it shouldn't have loot boxes.

COD encourages people to spectate others gambling with loot boxes.

People were pretty upset at Destiny 2 limiting XP gain.

Can't say I'm familiar with the other games, but if RDR2 does the same thing as GTA then it won't be a good thing either.

Profchaos2356d ago

I think GTA not primarily being focused on PvP helps I am like level 30 in that game but I feel I can take someone one on one even if they have paid content and I don't

Rachel_Alucard2356d ago

Heroes of the storm gives the player more value then BF2 ever will even after being F2P. GTA5 has complaints everywhere but the amount of people buying shark cards and not caring heavily outweighs those. Overwatch doesn't even make as much money off MTs as people think. PUBG is an example of chinese corporate crap. CoD WW2 was also shat on repeatedly. Destiny 2 you find a massive list from their forum of everything wrong with it. Finally, Red dead 2 already has red flags on it from 2Ks statement about monetization and given how poorly built GTA:O was you can bet they'll do it again.

_-EDMIX-_2356d ago

I actually agree with you and this is exactly what I mean when I tell these people that you guys need to stop going so hard Edge on disliking the company and actually specifically Target The Practice.

If some of you are going to be so eager to attack this company as well as attacking fellow Gamers simply for buying games, are you ready to now do this with all the other games that are going to release?

Didn't this community to the exact same thing with Ubisoft and Assassin's Creed Unity with all of its glitches only to ignore the numerous crap that was going on with the Witcher 3?

This community had entire clickbait articles talking about the downgrade with watch dogs only to not know how to feel about the downgrade to The Witcher 3.

This is one of those situations where yes you definitely must talk about the practice being wrong if it was done purposefully in with malice but understand if you're ready to apply this to a publisher you need to be ready to apply it to all publishers.

That's like me picketing McDonald's for something only to eat at another fast food establishment that's actually doing the same thing.

So help me understand this are you guys upset at the practice or you guys upset at Electronic Arts?

Do you guys get upset that there's microtransactions or are you upset at the Fashion that microtransactions are releasing in?

Are you guys upset at downloadable content or simply the kind of downloadable content that's being released?

Because you cannot go out of your way to be crying and complaining about optional Micro transactions while also going to praise expansions like The Witcher 3.

I mean it's starting to sound like the majority of the gaming community makes these decisions in articles out of pure bias for a company and not really based on practices.

If you want to be taken seriously you guys need to actually unbiasedly need to actually be calling out all Publishers that do such practice is not just the ones you happen to not like.

Because I thought it was pretty damn funny on this website and many other communities when CD projekt Red had their own season pass and suddenly no one really knew what to say about paying for extra content. 🐸☕

Funny.

Rachel_Alucard2355d ago

How many articles do you love bringing up Witcher 3? You seem sick in the head.

_-EDMIX-_2355d ago (Edited 2355d ago )

@rach- ok...that's nice.

EatCrow2356d ago

Nope. Seems you don't have it straight at all. In order to be a hypocrite you have to be contradictory. I don't think anyone ever said MTs in this games were good.

The gaming community is hitting hard on EA, we're letting them know they can't keep doing this!

electricbanshi2356d ago

EA is still pushing this garbage in their other games, I dont know how soon theyre going to learn...

Agheil2356d ago

Depends on how hard the hit is and how consistent it is.

electricbanshi2356d ago

If that future comes to fruition, its dark time ahead for gamers....

Agheil2356d ago

This needs to be clear to gamers that support these practices!

Platinum_Fan2356d ago

The sad fact is that backroom deals have already been made between all the major western publishers they know that if they all push this there is no way anyone can avoid it.

WilliamSheridan2356d ago

This will be the next big video game market crash. It will cause purple to abandon video games. Remember, it's a hobby. Not a way of life. Purple don't NEED games. And the greed these companies are feeling will be their downfall.

At one point, all of these companies consisted of people who just ENJOYED making and playing video games...

arkard2356d ago

The companies still do.... The developers/artists/coders all love video games I'm willing to bet. It's the big wig decision makers that have fallen out of touch with the fan base.

WilliamSheridan2356d ago

I agree, but the developers need to stop letting publishers dictate their games. Big developers should have way more say than that. Don't assume they are so innocent...

You think Bungle doesn't have a say? You think Rockstar had no say? Those guys are too big to argue with.

Chaos_Order2356d ago

Yup. Seems some gamers act as if we gamers have a duty to support the industry at any cost. But really, if tomorrow I decided to stop buying games completely and invest the money elsewhere, would I be "to blame" if the industry shrinks?
For example, I'm a staunch buyer of physical games. If gaming went all digital I'd probably just buy myself some older systems and buy all the games I missed out on. Should I be shamed for simply buying things I want and not buying things I don't want? There are a million and one things I don't buy but I've never been shamed for those things, don't see why gaming should be any different.

Microsoft's Absurd Antics Have Me Scared For Dishonored And Arkane Lyon's Future

With Arkane Austin no more and Lyon living for who knows how long, the superb Dishonored is in serious danger; Microsoft cannot be trusted.

Relientk7721h ago

I love the Dishonored series so much and really want Dishonored 3. Microsoft better not screw this up.

JEECE18h ago

I mean, I think the fans will probably kill Arkane Lyon by cooking up reasons to hate whatever they do next without playing it. I've never seen a game so artificially disliked as Deathloop.

thesoftware73018h ago

Lol, why don't we just say, we are worried about all studios owned by MS now. They will keep closing studios until they have none left ...🙄

Skuletor15h ago

Just merge them all into a single studio, have it churn out a single Call of Duty every year and call it a day, lol.

Barlos15h ago

Don't be scared, you'll be fine.

Skuletor15h ago

It's exputer, fine is one word I would not associate with them.

Profchaos14h ago

I think it's becoming clear based on matt bootys comments there's no future for any IP that can't sell above 10 million within the launch window. But is also a small game that gives them prestige

/S it's beyond a joke right now

Bogus!
Why would Sony do that and how would this benefit them?
1) It would piss off their media partners (IGN, Gamespot, Edge, etc.) since they would have to allocate resources fast to cover the event.
2) Risk of not having great coverage or proper coverage from the various source
3) It could give the impression that they are not confident in their own stuff.
4) They would miss the chance to hype the event losing viewers and losing free marketing time.

Again I'm calling it bogus unless it's a small showcase before the big one or because they want to announce that Hellbalde 2 is also coming on PS5.

SlothLordPootus19h ago

As far as I can remember, they typically give a week heads up for these sorts of things.

Lightning7719h ago

I was about to say Sony always gives a week in advance for their show.

VersusDMC19h ago(Edited 19h ago)

Last year it was a weeks notice.

https://blog.playstation.co...

May 17th announcement for may 24th show.

VersusDMC18h ago

Nintendo always tweets that a direct is happening tomorrow but no one cares.

Sony gives a week or days of notice and we get anti sony type fake outrage like this.

But good luck trying trying to get some Sony hate going...

Petebloodyonion18h ago

You just mention it!
Sony gives a week in advance NOT just a couple of days.
So I fail to see what Sony's hate movement I'm trying to start when it's a basic business strategy to not piss off your partners (ask Sega).
And I doubt it's hate to ask how it would benefit Sony in doing so.

thesoftware73018h ago(Edited 18h ago)

@Versus
Huh? What?

Bro you really should relax, if what you read was some kinda negative against Sony.... seriously, is that what you got from the comments?

Bro, he was debunking the rumor, and gave perfectly good reasons why it would be unlikely, and your Nintendo Direct comparison is different, as this is supposed to be a BIG Sony showcase, not a surprise 20 min direct, and Sony 's pattern has been one week.

Slow down warmonger.

VersusDMC17h ago(Edited 17h ago)

@thesoftware730

"1) It would piss off their media partners (IGN, Gamespot, Edge, etc.) since they would have to allocate resources fast to cover the event."

That is implying Sony is preventing them from doing their job properly therefore negatively affecting their business...but i guess that's a reach in your mind?

And it's not like they need that many resources to cover the stream. They just need 3 people to react to the stream live and make some easy articles made up mostly of summaries of Sony provided press releases. They would have enough time to "prepare" if it was announced with one days notice.

Petebloodyonion16h ago

@Versus
" That is implying Sony is preventing them from doing their job properly therefore negatively affecting their business...but i guess that's a reach in your mind"

No, it simply implies that some media all over the world might (keyword MIGHT) not properly cover the event like having proper articles for each game announced, or having a proper preshow. maybe some popular YouTubers won't have time to prepare or simply your local newspaper doing an article on tech and game.

So why would Sony take a chance?
What benefit would that give them?

+ Show (1) more replyLast reply 16h ago
Petebloodyonion18h ago

Before I get tons of replies for Sony given a week in advance, my initial comments are related to the notion that the Show could happen this week as the title mentions.
Now to be fair the complete article mentions that Jeff said the Show could happen later in May giving time for Sony to give the normal 7-day notice.

Again not trying to start a negative thing here just thinking that it's bogus that Sony will have a show this week

notachance17h ago

Yeah as much as I’d like to hear what sony’s 1st parties have cooked, it’s not their style to shadow drop a showcase.

Still waiting for ghost of tsushima 2, I’m ready whenever man..

KwietStorm_BLM13h ago

You're assuming media outlets don't know about it.

gold_drake10h ago

i can tell you that no one cares if ign is pissed or not.

watching a livestream and writing stuff aint the world. many habe done that before your god ign.

fr0sty5h ago(Edited 5h ago)

As a former gaming journalist that covered Sony & Nintendo's E3 conferences 3 separate times and was flown out to multiple press events for THQ, Square, and EA, let me inform you of this thing called an "embargo" that journalists are put under... it's very possible that details of this event have been given to the gaming press, but they are not yet allowed to discuss it. In fact, that may be where our leaker got their info...

Petebloodyonion4h ago

Tks for sharing this info :) but let's be honest I doubt that Jeff Grubb would left in the dark due to his notoriety while the rest of Gamespot ppl are in the knowing.
