Why FIFA May Be To Blame For The Battlefront Outrage Saga

Ash from DYEGB writes: Figures show that 'player packs' in EA's FIFA have made roughly 800 million dollars, and CFO Blake Jorgensen is quoted as saying:
“Like Battlefield or Battlefront, our Star Wars game, which are very similar in the depth of play – we can possibly add a similar mechanic to that. We spend a lot of time thinking about it,”

Difference is Ultimate Team is it's own game mode, they aren't mixing the game packs into the career mode.

Gazondaily2357d ago

Well Fifa and Halo separate modes where the MTs come in so that's a much better way to implement LBs.

If you’re buying ultimate team cards. You deserve everything you get. You need to grow up.

Game companies are not mature enough to handle this concept without turning it into a casino.

The remakes of battlefront should have been more simular to the originals. CoD/battlefield reskinned as Star Wars was not the anwser.

The first game was really fun. I remember being disappointed with this one when it first released.

I went back last month actually, and had more fun than when released-but I still think the first one is superior. Do like the soundtrack!

If there’s an organization that is more corrupt than EA, it’s for sure FIFA.

I also agree that EA has done more for FIFA on brand awareness too. I know of people that thought FIFA was an EA brand similar to Madden instead of their own independent organization.

Profchaos202d ago

Probably a good call on Sony's part given the relationship they needed to build with ea over time and given the era if EA didn't want something they found ways around it such as building their own unlicensed games and bypassing console copyright protection on 16 bit systems to avoid paying licensing

XiNatsuDragnel202d ago

Fifa with playstation I would've preferred that over EA now tbh.

Seraphim202d ago

guess you don't remember how bad those Sony sports titles were in the 90s. The only exception would be NBA Shootout '97 which was phenomenal.

shinoff2183201d ago

Idk what that means. Nfl GameDay was fun as fk.

FinalFantasyFanatic202d ago

I never liked sports games personally, except for ESPN Extreme Games, that was fun for me back in the day.

gold_drake202d ago

the Fifa people are some of the scummiest people there is, even outside of the gaming industry.

good on that sony ceo for actually talking to EA first and letting them know what happened.

anast202d ago

The career mode would have been way better.
