Sonic Forces Focuses on PlayStation 4 With Clear Issues on Other Systems

While Xbox One X is the best version right now, it's clear that PS4 is the 'prime' edition of this release - the one that Sega put the most effort into. While Xbox One X is marginally better thanks to its selective boost in resolution, you certainly aren't seeing its six teraflop GPU put through its paces throughout the game. Meanwhile, both Xbox One and Switch fall short of what they could have been - the notion of Microsoft's console getting a 720p port four years into its lifespan is just not good enough, and it's a remarkable state of affairs.

The PS4 Pro being exactly the same as PS4 is really a shame. I wonder why they did that, especially since they have the higher res textures for Xbox One X and PC.

Wait that's not true, no where in the article does it say there are different textures between the X and the PS4. The X at some points has higher resolution but the textures are the same. There are only two mentions of textures at all in the article.

"Things scale back dramatically on Xbox One, which renders at just 720p, taking us back to the dark days of the hardware launch. Dramatically lower image quality is the end result, though the same texture and detail levels persist. "

"The Switch version (a Japanese demo is available that we used for testing) is curious. It runs at the same 720p resolution as Xbox One, but the detail level is dramatically reduced in some cases with reduced texture quality, simpler lighting and pared back geometry detail."

Both the PC and XBox One X are running higher resolutions and are also over 2GB bigger in size. Unless something really strange is going on, it is due to textures.

Uh look at any game and compare the sizes they are always different sizes on the different platforms. This is due to differences in compression and other optional features that may exist. And even if the textures were significantly different they would be much larger than that.

And as far as I can see there is no mention of the file size in this article and I am not going to take down the time to hunt down the file sizes though other means.

@baboon56:
Xbox One version is 16.12GB
PlayStation 4 version is 16.6GB
Xbox One X and PC versions are 18.5GB

They will never make PS4 Pro exclusive games just like how Microsoft will never make XBOX One X exclusive games. They wo't cut out the customers that don't have the proper TVs & equipment & are just sticking with the regular PS4. Just so games can be better looking but at the expense of sales ? That would not be very smart business sense right there
