13.4GB
Multiplayer is a 9GB separate download

Shiken2381d ago

This is how physical games should be handled. Single player on the cart and multi downloaded. This way the cart losses no value because you cannot play online without a connection anyway.

t3gamenews2381d ago

that's actually pretty genius. :o
save cost for devs & also consumers since the game price would be lower.

badz1492381d ago

LOL looks like Nintendo has no worries at all as their fanboys will always make excuses for their shortcomings!

Featuring_Dante2381d ago

I'm gonna conduct a study to see how far nintendrones will give nintendo a pass, i'll have to follow your replies.

Be sure to check my comment history, I am actually an avid Playstation supporter. Had my PS4 since launch, an X1 a year later collecting dust, a WiiU that got attention during a few big releases but not much else.

Right now the Switch is getting most of my attention because the portability is what suits my gaming needs, even if there are a few drawbacks. For what it is, it is a solid system.

It is great not being shackled by fanboyism to the point where I need to attack others who don't see eye to eye with you. What dull lives you must lead. 😉

@t3gamenews

How is this genius since you as the consumer are still paying for the full game whether you download the multiplayer or not? Yes, I am aware that some people may have data caps or no internet connection.

There is no saving in costs for the developers since they still have had to develop the whole game which does include both single and multiplayer components as well as patches for both.

If anything the consumer is up for additional money since they will be forced to buy an additional MicroSD card if they haven't already just to install the multiplayer component unless they are happy with installing 9GB of data on the Switch's 26GB of internal storage.

Basically, Doom is an old game now (13 May 2016) and has considerably dropped in price for the PS4 and XB1. You also have to consider that you will be paying more for the MicroSD card (cartridge) than you would have to pay if the game was on a Bluray disk (approx $10 USD). Even so, you still have to consider the multiplayer component requirements if you wish to use them.

@badz149
but wouldn't be somewhat stupid in a way to have it done similar to this where both SP and MP be on disc/cart but you can choose if you only want to install single player or multiplayer or both to save on hdd space.
good example is cod almost being 80gb each cod you own and 70% of that is mp crap you don't need after newer one comes out

but with this i feel nintendo has done it wrong with games getting bigger and bigger and having limited space on the console

EDIT
added COD example

jmtstan2381d ago

XbladeTeddy2381d ago

£40 for a gimped version of Doom lol. £10 new on PS4.

kevnb2381d ago

Portable doom sounds great to me.

FinalomegaS2381d ago

doesnt gimped normally mean missing features?

30 fps portable vs 60 fps stationary

those are trade offs
everything else including dlc is here no?

Featuring_Dante2381d ago

lol 1 game fills up the entirety of switch's hdd.
Only at nintendo, technology of yesterday for the price of today

Twitter is blowing up right now

All games coming to PlayStation
Next Xbox will have steam
Next Xbox niche and only for “gamers who want it” (it’s a really powerful pc or a steam deck type portable, or both)
