R2 will create new sales records this Fall

and also in reviews

please mark my words on that prediction

DA_SHREDDER5698d ago

I will mark those words,, but what do I win when you are wrong?

DA_SHREDDER5698d ago

But COD 4 is the best shooter on either console right now. Don't believe me? Just look at the NPD chart from last Oct to now and tell me if you can count that high. Also, I dont see Gears 2 or Resistance 2 doing anything to hurt the sales of the new game. Not only is it bigger, but its already been said by many reviwers and previwers that the game is as good if not better then COD4. You fanboys won't ever accept that fact, but I dont care, and neither does Activision. I promise you the COD5 will be the most played game in November.

chaosatom5698d ago (Edited 5698d ago )

but because TONS of people have COD4.

And Most of all it's Multiplatform, so sales will go up even higher.

I do hope tho, that a lot of ps3 owners buy resistance 2, and I think a lot of will because it's exclusive, and they tend to do better. Plus Resistance 2 has been improved way beyond resistance, more than cod5 has than cod4. And insomanic is one of the best companies to have and supporting them leads to only good results. I don't how cod5 people will support the ps3. Would they even add trophies and etc stuff?

COD4 online is a top notch FPS! It finally got me to stop playing RFOM online. I really like RFOM, its a great game and has a great story. There is a feel about the game that just appeals to me. This is why I have not traded it in. I plan to keep it and COD4.

I might not play them as much when games like COD5, RFOM2 or KillZone are released but they will still get played.

BTW I still have an N64 and it gets dug out the odd time when the lads are over and the reminiscing about Goldeneye starts! Truly good games always get played again and again.

perseus5698d ago

The best shooter on both consoles is Bad Company, not COD4. But, that's a personal opinion, not an absolute truth. Just because COD4 has sold a kazillion copies doesn't make it the best FPS we've got.

It's a lot of fun, but it's not the best. It's just very appealing to younger players who don't really know any better.

LevDog5698d ago

I had fun with COD4, but I traded it in once I got the Socom Beta.. COD4 was good for what it was.. A mindless FPS.. Ive never seen a game where I can kill 70 people in a match and it be the norm.. Get 7 kills Hide call helicopter.. Helicopter gets 7 kills hide.. Call another.. Rinse repeat.. Game got boring.. But I give it credit it kept my attention for a couple months.. Now SoCrack Is back!!!

LevDog5698d ago (Edited 5698d ago )

@ BELOW HAHAHA You can check my stats (if they have a search option).. I didnt delete my player profile.. Trust me.. My best game came on shipment.. 99-14.. Thats why I said rinse and repeat.. You get 7 kills.. Die.. Call in Helicopter on your new life.. Let that heli get 7 kills.. go out get as many kills as you can again.. Die call in heli again let heli get 7 kills and repeat.. Its simple.. I had a 2.5 kill to death ratio.. So dont tell me I sucked.. and I traded in COD4 thats fact.. My last save game and player profile was 7/8/2008 11:14 PM .. I think that was like 1 week before the beta for socom came out..

Im being serious go ahead and find me.. LevDog is my PSN.. I dont need to lie about a video game.. I admit when I suck at them (Madden for instance and even WarHawk).. COD4 was just too easy and boring to me.. I only got it cause 70% of my PSN friends played it.. Socom is more tactical and Takes more skill to play.. Plus you dont have annoying music and People singing ( I know you can Mute) but I would rather Talk to my teamates then mute em.. FPS are for respawn mindless killing.. Im a fan of teamwork and communication.. with a challenge.. Nothing you say will change my mind..

As for Socom.. UMM its a beta bud.. Your suppose to find all those problems and tell the devs about it.. So they can make a patch and fix it.. Also have you played SoCrack today.. Its super smooth.. ...

prunchess5698d ago

Shot yourself in the foot there LevDog with that comment.

I don't believe that anyone that had COD4 for a couple of months would have the opinion of this game you have.

COD4 is by far the best FPS out there this Gen!(so far) The game is not perfect. The online stats for my profile have never been right. When I bought COD4 first, it pissed me off so much that when HAZE was released I traded it in for it. I eventually took a lend of my mates copy of COD4 and once I started playing it again I realised that I made an error. Stats aren't everything.

DA_SHREDDER - you beat me to pointing of the chopper mistake in LevDogs post, ye fecker!

DA_SHREDDER5698d ago

Yes its a beta, but the game comes out in less then 2 weeks. So if the beta doesn't act right now, Im sure that the real game will be as far behind in todays standards of gameplay as it was before the beta ended. Don't get me wrong. I hope this game turns out good, Im buying it for the fact that I love and support my Sony brand, but you cant say things like,"bud,,its a beta" when the game comes a week later.

p.s. Fcker or f*cker is better then fecker.

prunchess5698d ago

"p.s. Fcker or f*cker is better then fecker."

We actually pronounce it 'fecker' here in Dublin - Sort of Irish slang.

Now if I'd have called you a 'Langer' maybe then a rebuke......

Im a Sony Fanboy myself, but anyone who plays COD4 knows that you can only call in one airstrike, and one helicopter per life. So I doubt your even good enough to say that you can get 70 kills in one game. Also, if your sick of playing Mindless games then play search and destroy or any other game besides TDM and domination.

Im calling you out on trading in COD4 for socom. I for one think that Socrack needs to get delayed because its not even half of what I expected it to be, and the lag online is horrible,, I would rather play p2p then these retarded dedicated servers that have no use. Yes it has tons of potential, but I think that the 3rd person view in the game makes it the most unrealistic shooter on the ps3. COD4 is far superior to Socom,, with the realistic recoil from firing weapons to the realistic reloading magazine clip animations.

I think the claymores and C4 are totally retarded in the game too. The C4 should have the remote detonation but nooo, that wouldn't make sense. So they put a timer instead, and put the detonators on claymores that should be proximity. The game is retarded. The game modes are boring. The graphics dont even look as good as COD4. It takes forever to get into a game,, man I could just keep on going.

Like I said, Im a ps3 fanboy, but I own both systems and I will say what is wrong with a game without candy coating. You have to have a loose screw in your head if you think Socom could replace any COD game. Oh yeah, Im getting Resistance 2 and not Gears because Ive seen both play and Gears just looks more of the same. Too many games out now to be playing the same old stuff ya know what I mean? I heart Fable2 though. Guess I get the best of both worlds cause I own both.

Looking Back At 2008, An Unbelievably Incredible Year Of Video Game Releases

Huzaifa from eXputer: "2008 was home to the likes of Call of Duty: World at War, Dead Space, GTA 4, Far Cry 2, Left 4 Dead, and many other hits, which is outright remarkable."

ChasterMies20d ago

Some of these low paid video game “news” writers weren’t born before 2007.

just_looken20d ago

Here here

Those that were around before 2000's i am sure are like me that think we entered a world of non readers or those that follow without question.

I can not wait to see fallout 3 a goty game even though it was about water with non content until you add the dlc/updates then you got the performance/crashing

CrimsonWing6920d ago

I don’t think anything can compare to 2023

lucasnooker20d ago

1998 - the best year in gaming! Metal gear solid, crash bandicoot 3, medievil, half life, ocarina of time, thief, tenchu, resident evil 2, Spyro, tomb raider 3, oddworld abes exodus, banjo kazooie.

It was a different breed of a gaming era. You’ll never understand what it was like back then. The aura of gaming, it was different!

KyRo20d ago (Edited 20d ago )

I second this. Gaming was a lot more varied and fun than it is today. I'm 35 so getting on compared to some here but I got to see all the changes from NES up to now but I've never felt so disappointed in any generation than I have this current gen. I was expecting more from this generation rather than prettier versions of games that came before it. Game mechanics have become so refined that alot of games feel the same and has done for a while now.

Maybe it's time to have a break for a while. I love gaming but I don't feel I get much fun in the traditional sense out of it anymore.

CrimsonWing6920d ago (Edited 20d ago )

Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil 2, Abe’s Exodus, and Ocarina of Time are the only things from that list that I liked.

Here’s the 2023 game releases that I personally liked… and big releases that I didn’t care for:

- Dead Space Remake
- Wo Long Dynatsy
- Resident Evil 4 Remake
- Diablo 4
- Fire Emblem Engage
- Hogwarts Legcay
- Street Fighter 6
- Hi-Fi Rush
- Like a Dragon: Ishin
- Octopath Traveler 2
- Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters
- Final Fanatsy XVI (actually ended up not liking this, but it was still a big deal release)
- Baldur’s Gate 3
- Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon
- Lies of P
- Mortal Kombat 1
- Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
- Starfield (Ended up hating this one, but big release)
- Super Mario Bros. Wonder
- Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (I’m an old-school Zelda fan, but didn’t really enjoy this game)
- Alan Wake 2

I mean, honestly I’ve never seen a year of major IP releases like that, ever.

Profchaos20d ago (Edited 20d ago )

Isn't it just a generational thing realistically.

I've been gaming since way back and I some of my favourite games go as far back as the late 80s for me each generation has a year or two of game changing releases one after another before an inevitable dry spell.

I kind of agree gaming had a different feel games hit different because we didn't have the internet nothing got spoiled and you really had to put in the effort to beat a puzzle which could set entire groups of people looking for a solution. But most importantly games were experimental and not as cookie cutter as today even basics like controls were not universal today r2 is shoot l2 is ads garunteed you can't deviate from that in a shooter back then it could of been square, R1 or R1 and circle nothing was standard.

But as time moves on a new generation picks up their controller they are going to be interested in different things that PS1 demo disc with the t Rex blew our primitive 16 bit brains back on launch but to kids today it's laughable.
The new gen of kids coming into to hobby seem to value different things to us there seems to be a huge focus on online play, streamers, gaming personalities, and social experiences, convience of digital downloads. To me I value none of that but that's ok like my parents not liking the band's I would listen to its just the natural cycle.

Gameseeker_Frampt20d ago

Just about every year in the 7th generation was great and something we most likely won't experience again.

2009 for example had Assassin's Creed 2, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Dragon Age: Origins, Uncharted 2, Halo 3: ODST, Killzone 2, Borderlands, Bayonetta, and Demon's Souls to name a few.

just_looken20d ago

It still amazes me we got over 7 rockstar games ps2/ps3 but 3 for the ps3/ps4/ps5

Dragon age 1-3 and mass effect 1-3 in 7ish years what a generation.

Why MW 2019 is still the best looking Call of Duty to date

MW 2019 is five years old at this point and on previous gen hardware, but it is still the best looking Call of Duty game to date.

MW was an excellent videogame. They messed up Spec Ops big time, but aside from this it was a huge step in the right direction initially. Most notably, at launch it seemed to come from a very cohesive creative vision that was felt across gameplay, to story to art style/visual direction. It was also very notably written by prominent ex-Naughty Dog guys that quit almost immediately before release.

That COMPLETELY dissolved through post-launch content and the full pivot to a "cross-mode" narrative that completely obliterated the cohesion in overall story direction. Warzone then "became" the new face of Call of Duty and the franchise completely removed itself from anything remotely creatively "good". It is a pure money machine, so I kinda get why they're doing it....but I personally completely lost interest.

I would love to see Infinity Ward move off CoD and get to make their own product with full control. They clearly have some massive talent in their ranks but it's perverted by Activision's corporate interests.
