Seems counter intuitive for a multiplatform game to have an exclusive beta. Hopefully it's a timed exclusive beta, or a beta for the other platforms will come out a little after the PS4 one.

Well PUGB early access/beta is a Xbox Exclusive too. Even MS is publishing that on xbox. I am not saying this is okay but it is already happening and no one has said anything

Sony seems to be doing the same thing here. Only difference is that Monster Hunter was announced to be Multiplat which makes this exclusive beta look counter intuitive to PC and Xbox players, while Bluehole and MS and llayig words whether PUBG will be exclusive or not like MS and CD did before with RoTR

The difference is that MS has actually loaned Bluehole devs and tech from their other IP's to make the game look and run best on their hardware. They have made a deal with them to get this access and it was never announced as a multiplat.

Sure they are in talks, but it hasn't been officially confirmed its coming and how long is the wait going to be? I doubt it will be ready to launch on PS4 by the time the PC version and Xbox version fully launch. Plus Sony doesn't have a Early Access program.

This Monster Hunter beta is just Sony paying Capcom to keep a freakin Beta of the other platforms even though it was announced as Multiplat from the get go.

I timed or early beta I understand, but a full exclusivity for the beta?

The irony about PUBG being early access is that it would always have been an xbox exclusive. Sony do not allow early access games, so unless they changed their terms it would never have come to PS4 until it was finished anyway.

Gotta bear in mind the biggest fan base is in the east where Xbox basically doesn't exist so I assume that's the main direction with this.

Luckily I have a PS4 so this is fine for me but I'd of been next level salty if I didn't.

PUBG is in early access something sony doesn't support, Tomb Raider Microsoft made a deal and helped publishing, Dead Rising has pretty much been a Microsoft exclusive considering it took this long to even get 1 and 2 and 4... Dead Rising 3 was a deal with Capcom hence why it still hasn't been ported.

Sony is keeping Destiny content off Xbox for a year+, they made a deal with Capcom for SFV as well, They are keeping RE7 VR support exclusive to PSVR for a year, Crash also ins't an exclusive but hasn't made its way to another platform.

BUsiness is business... but its weird to keep a beta 100% exclusive.

Why? If the game is gonna be multiplatform, there should be nothing wrong with letting the other platforms receive the beta and have the other platforms get excited for it, especially after being an exclusive until now.

As a company, when it comes to the Playstation brand, Sony is smart, they know that by providing their first and second party devs with the tools and the budget necessary to make good games they'll keep providing, and it also ensures loyalty and exclusivity on their platform which means more of their console sold and more money.

While this doesn't benefit gamers who game on other platforms, there's nothing stopping people who want to play those exclusives from getting the PS4. Even though when it comes to cross platform play they do drop the ball, as i'd like everyone to be able to play the same games together regardless of platform.

Because Exclusives is what set Sony and MS apart. Sony isn’t in any obligation to share their exclusives because you decided to go to the opposite console. Peope boost exclusive (from Sony’s own studios) because sony must deliver their own content and they do just that, deliver!

Now I don’t know the reason why this is an exclusive beta (most likely money hatting) but this has nothing to do with Sony not sharing their own content. Let’s not get ridiculous

Considering Capcom and Sony are both Japanese companies it's possible that the deal was easier to make than it would've been with Microsoft as they wouldn't have to reach very far to get things working, but that's just an assumption.

As for PC, a lot of games that come out on PC get exclusive betas technically, they're released in Steam early access or something similar, then upon final release they're put on consoles.

Xbox, maybe it's because it's easier for them to do just a ps4 beta since in Japan Xbox isn't a factor. It's just a assumption, either that or it came of the deal that added horizon content. I think it's clear what's going on here guys. Sony probably paid Capcom for exclusivity for the beta so that it would entice players to get it on the PS4 over any other platform. You play it on the PS4 and it's a good experience, you're going to feel more tempted to get it on that platform vs PC or Xbox.

Personally, while the decision is good for Sony and Capcom business wise, I think it's lame for actual gamers as a whole, we don't get to see how well optimized the games will be on PC or Xbox and we're just left to take the risk. And the idea of exclusive betas for multi platforms in general just seems like a pretty scummy business practice.

And we can't argue it's impossible, because Dragon Ball Fighters Z had a multiplatform beta that went fine. Hell even Call of Duty WW2 has a beta for all platforms.

Also if the game has Horizon Zero Dawn's protagonist Aloy in it then I very much doubt any platform except the PS4 would get this beta. When the game finally releases multiplatform it is quite likely that only the PS4 players will have the option of playing as Aloy.

Beta is there to help the devs with bugs/crashes and so on, it's kind of odd to not allow PC and Xbox the same feature to help the Dev. I could see PS4 having like an extended time in the Beta, but to remove something that is there to actually help the Dev, this will just make more work for Capcom when the game releases. Unless the Beta is actually a Demo, well then that's fine no need to push it to the other platforms.

The game does not toss you head first into large or complex battles, it is simple at first so you learn to grow. First you learn to attack, block and dodge. Then you learn to use items. After that you learn to find items in the map. Then you learn to combine items like a blue mushroom and herb to create a potion (general healing item). You learn the land and it's areas. You learn to fight small monsters before setting out to fight the alpha male (larger with 50% more attacks), this is your first big challenge.

How you approach battles is through trail and error, we all had to do it. Those that remained long enough to learn the monster's habit were able to kill it. That is were the MH addiction comes into play. It comes to the point where you learn how to fight monsters just by looking at them, you don't just see them in action on screen, you observe everything about them for when you come face to face with one.

Also don't worry about the 14 weapon types, pick one up and test it out.

From my understanding after reading a few sites that while the ps4 beta has been announced there has yet to be revealed any info on the other platforms and one being done for them.

It is a bit stupid not beta'ing the game across all platforms to make sure quality is as best they can predict for release, any bugs get fixed in time for release as well as a chance to see how servers hold with player demand.

I do hope capcom don't screw this up if they do not release a beta for the other platforms as it is a big thing MHW coming to most of us. If capcom screw it up then they will harm the franchise that has a well built name and an army of fans that won't forgive capcom, you would think they want to take all the precaution they can across all the platforms..

I honestly have no idea behind capcoms thinking here and what all of us are either thinking is purely speculation.

I mean I could speculate that are they pleased enough with the development of the Xbox and pc version that they don't need to BETA or is it the other way round..

I could also speculate that having a ps4 beta maybe there are concerns and they're taking precautions to make sure the beta gets it rite. Maybe they had an easier time developing for one platform and not the other two who the hell knows.

I read that Sony has a contract with Capcom. Since this game is huge in Japan the contract required Capcom to not release it on the Switch but the Xbox was allowed since Sony was targeting Japan. Might be why they have an exclusive beta as well
