IGN: TGS 2008: Tokyo Game Show Xbox 360 Preview

The annual Tokyo Game Show kicks off this week in the Land of the Rising Sun. This public showcase is a major draw in Japan, bringing upwards of 200,000 attendees to the convention center in Makuhari. There, for a small entrance fee, gaming enthusiasts can get a look at unreleased games, buy some very cool and limited edition swag, and partake in the always popular cosplay festivities. Every major Japanese developer and publisher is on hand, along with some from the US and Europe.

As always, IGN has made the trip across the Pacific to bring you all of the latest news, previews, screenshots, and movies. But what exactly can you expect to see this year? They have put together their predictions, expectations, and a list of when the major events are that they think will have some Xbox 360 related news.

Inferior peice of hardware?

The PS3 doesn't have a noisy DVD drive. . .

The PS3 didn't have and doesn't have anything as bad as the RROD failure rate. . .

There is nothing thats been released on the 360 that suggests its better in any way hardware wise.

The Multi-platform games looking worse is due to Epic taking an eternity to optimise the Unreal engine for the console, and also due to the 360 being the lead development platform for the games. Uncharted, Heavenly Sword, Metal Gear Solid 4, Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of destruction etc all show that by no means the PS3 is inferior.

You should think twice before making absurd remarks like that. I'd take my PS3 over my 360 hardware wise any day.

Why would Bungie talk about "keep it clean" over in Japan?

fufotrufo5705d ago

dunno ..but bungie is supposed to have a "big announcment" @ TGS

ZombieNinjaPanda5705d ago

I'm hoping that it will be the tactical halo.

If Bungie were to announce that, I'm sure there would be a good number of people pleased, including me.

leeger5705d ago

Maybe Bungie will announce a Halo JRPG and it is entitled Final Halo Fantasy: The Master Chief Samurai. hehehe

Maybe it's JRPG Halo?

Edit: didn't see the comment above. :)

I expect Tekken 6 announced for xbox 360 and Kingdom Hearts multiplaatform. Just a hunch. I'd also like to further this and say that Microsoft will probably get exclusive DLC for both.

There is a possibility they announce Tekken 6 or FFXIIIVS for the 360. IDK about Kingdom of Hearts.

GVON5705d ago (Edited 5705d ago )

The guy(nomoura)who makes KH is making FFv13,he's even said he won't even consider KH3 until V13 is done.

http://uk.ps3.ign.com/artic...

"Nomura responded by saying that it would be impossible to work on two huge projects at once, so he hopes to get started on the next Kingdom Hearts game after having accumulating know-how from Versus XIII."

Tekken may go multiplat, but v13 wont.

http://finalfantasy-xiii.ne...

"[Playstation 3 Only World wide] appears at the end of the trailer
Nomura: As the director of FFv13, i have already stated that this game is [Playstation 3 Only World wide]."

And as you are a FF fan shadowman you'll know that he's a sony fanboy and why it's called versus 13

I'd like to see what he's been doing. Itagaki has said many off-beat things regarding WWII and piloting. My guess is that he has a WWII flight game.

Nearly Half Of Gamers Play Video Games To "Express Themselves," Study Finds

Many players find it easier to express themselves while playing games. Yet, over half of the surveyed gamers still play to relieve stress.

H93h ago

I wonder what place made this study, and it's Fandom, no wonder half of the people said that, I find it hilarious that Fandom of all places did manage to pull more than 50% for the argument of playing games for self expression

Wolfenstein: The New Order - A Highly Rated FPS That Hasn't Stood the Test of Time

Wolfenstein: The New Order launched 10 years ago today, but can it stand up to the modern FPS titles it inspired?

Seth_hun5h ago

I disagree. Its still a fantastic game, with very good gunplay and a surprisingly loveable cast of characters and a good story trough many different and interesting setpieces

hiawa231h ago(Edited 1h ago)

All The New Order needs for my tastes is a this gen enhancement patch.

ChasterMies1h ago

I played New Order a couple of years after launch and I give it an 8/10. The shooter holds up because it is focused on being a good shooter. There is no crafting, no RPG elements, no open world find the question mark Weapons are fun. Enemies are fun. Levels offer a nice mix of stealth and shooting. You get to be the predator; this isn’t a game about fending off waves of enemies while a robot companion unlocks a door. Most importantly, New Order is the last of a dying breed of single player shooters.

Weird all the Wolfenstein articles.

Can you guess what will be announced at Xbox showcase?
