This game is amazing! I can't deny it, I love the style, it's done so perfectly, not to mention it's so cheap! But I don't see why playstation fans have to miss out? I'm a playstation fan and i've been playing it on my Xbox One s, I could be playing it on my gaming PC as I did buy it with the cross buy option, but it's not like it will look nicer/run smoother on my PC, it's not a demanding game. I just don't understand why I (or any other playstation fan) has to miss out?

In UK journalism circles the reviewer Tom Hutchinson is not regarded with high esteem. Some people get a job because they are the best candidate, others get it because they have connections. Tom Hiddleston lacks the ability to connect with an audience or how to properly convey the qualities of a game.

Cuphead according to most reviews is an excellent game and a review should say as much (i'm looking forward to playing it at the weekend). However Hutchinson is a fanboy because he doesn't just write a positive review, he uses it as an opportunity jump both feet into the format war for his favourite side and by using as an opportunity to score points against the PlayStation. Every platform has exclusives, but it is lazy and bias writing if in every review of an exclusive game you say that all the other platforms are missing out. It is Tom Hutchinson's way of telling his IC1 readership that Xbox is better. A skilled writer would focus on celebrating how great Cuphead is.

If you haven't tried it yet, you're definitely missing out. Doubt it's coming to PS4, but the PC requirements are extremely fair. I would say if you cannot play it on Xbox One, just do Steam. Either way, just get around to playing it.

A quick web search will confirm that Cuphead is exclusive to the XB1 and the PC running Microsoft Windows 10. The game was developed and published by Studio MDHR which is an independent company. http://www.eurogamer.net/ar...

The game was developed using the Unity Engine and by the terms and conditions of the developers will pay a reasonable portion of their profits to the Unity developers https://unity3d.com/ . Basically, the Unity Engine like the Unreal Engine is free you only pay if your product earns money.

What is interesting is that the developer is also the publisher which will maximise profits for the two Indi developers. I would assume that Microsoft did a deal with the developers (ie. moneyhatting) for exclusivity although something like this would make Microsoft the publisher.

BTW. It is quite fascinating to compare the Unity and Unreal Engines. Both are basically free although if you start to make money the developers want a cut which is spelled out in their terms and conditions. Those prices are IMHO quite reasonable.

The problem is, a great number of people can't afford to buy two consoles. So when they commit to a platform they usually forfeit the other one. Even in the case that they have a PlayStation 4 and a PC (albeit a normal-slow one) that doesn't mean they will buy games for both. People stick to one for whatever reason (friends, price, promos, etc.) and they buy only the games they really like.

So yeah, in a way, they are missing out. Tbh Cuphead is very good AND cheap.

I've never been one to believe the whole people can't afford two consoles argument. When I hear that, it just makes me think they really aren't big into gaming. People that will only play on one console only are not true video game fans, as great games come out on all consoles.

You are quite right most gamers usually stick to a few genres and can be picky even within genres they like.

The following is a breakdown of the US gaming market in 2016 https://www.statista.com/st... The game Cuphead is an "Action game" which is a 2D platformer of the "run and gun" variety. In the US (see chart) Action games are 22.5% of the market which is second only to Shooters (27.5%). Read into that what you may.

Personally, even though I will never play this game (not interested) I do hope the developers do well, however, the proof of success will be sales and since the developers are also the publishers they should get a good return for the time they put into the game.

Most PCs run Microsoft Windows and the Cuphead game is made for Windows 10 which is only 27.99% of the market https://www.netmarketshare.... so like it or not if you have a PC with any version of MS Windows other than Windows 10 you will be out of luck.

BTW. My PCs run Linux (3.37% of the market) so I won't be able to run MS Windows games natively although I can run Windows 10 in a virtual machine since I do have a legitimate license although I choose not to do this.

Any Ps gamer with a mid-level PC can get this on a Steam account or the Windows store if they want to play it bad it enough. PS gamers have our own load of titles coming soon and the list is GRAND!!

I praise the devs for creating such a gem of a title, full of Originality, Art, Sound Design and Style all wrapped in old school play mechanics of Contra and other titles like it. Props to StudioMDHR Entertainment, May your new studio be ever more successful.

Meh... it's a great game with some amazing animation but let's be real. It's a $20 indie game that has only boss battles and 1930's art style. I doubt anyone cares for this and it's plenty of other games to play this fall. One indie game doesn't make a difference.

Shadow of the Colossus was basically 16 boss battles against varying types of Colossi plus a ton of travelling to those bosses (with a great story premise and world class soundtrack), and look at how awesome that game was.

Since you went there - Cuphead is great, it really is. Amazing art and graphics, challenging and unique boss fights, etc. but in no way does it close the gap between the quality of games released on both platforms throughout the entire year. Ps4 has already received a hardcore game in the form of NIOH in any case, and that game can easily be GOTY for a lot of people (which has far more content than cuphead).

Horizon Frozen Wilds is £14.39 with PS+ on the PS Store, and can be cheaper if you use CDKeys to get the £15 PSN card for just £13.99 and use their 5% Facebook like discount to get the card even lower (£13.30). Not sure if comparing divinity 2 to cuphead is a good thing to do.
Theyre so vastly different in everything. Target audience, required time investment, story, instant action.
I just dont think its fair to say divinity 2 is a much better game. Divinity 2 is a terrific game yes, i just got to arx. But would i recommend divinity to as wide of an audience as i would cuphead?
Simple v complex it doesnt mean better or worse just different. Both good great even, heck divinity may be my GOTY.

Just like Xbox One gamers are missing out on the Yakuza series, the Uncharted games, God of War, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Nioh, Nier: Automata, Spiderman and so many other exclusives, far too many to list here. Cuphead is just one indie game that Xbox supporters are touting just to convince themselves that they do have new exclusive games to play on Xbox. They have had one major release this year...and Cuphead. And so PS4 owners are supposed to be jealous? What rubbish! Cuphead is a good original game but most PS4 owners will not worry about missing out - we are far too preoccupied with so many games on the PS4 that many of us have large backlogs of games to play.

From what I saw on this game it looks great hard as hell but looks like its fun to play. I would grab it but I want a disc copy of Cuphead over a digital version.

Tried the gog version yesterday. Tbh it's too tedius very difficult wasn't that much fun imo. Graphics are good though

If you have an Xbox One, PLAY IT. If you don't have one, get it on PC. I feel no one should be missing out on this. I haven't enjoyed a game like this in a long, long time.
