I'm really diggin what I saw in that vid and this preview just confirms what so many Gears fans have always expected.

I was extremely skeptical that the water effects were going to be as good as that tech demo shown, but my god! they looked amazing, the reaver scenes are intense! :) cannot wait to pick up my gears with cog tags and weird locust figurine! :):):)

From the video ,it still looks like Gears 1, there is still no dynamic lighting and shadowing which hampers the graphics considerably.
and i'm sorry that the tagline "Bigger, better , and more badass" does nothing for me , it sounds like a phrase from the old GI-JOE action figure commercials. but yeah, whatever impresses the kids.

this game is better than R2 in every aspect of game criticism except maybe story. i feel bad for gears 2 because their comparing to a unbelievably boring game like resistance. once i beat resistance i couldn't even stand to look at it. because once your done with the single player mode..........ur done.

I can't say I'm blown away by it but the waterfall and the depth of field effects look great.

From that vid (I know it's only 640x360) it looks a little washed out and there isn't the quality of texture found in the screens that have been posted the last few months,and I still think it looks a little foggy towards the back of each scene.

The game play looks as solid as the first,but I'm not sold on the flying sections,they look a little boring,possibly because this type of chase mechanic has been hammered by every game after GTA3.

No doubt it will sell really well but i cant see it getting the universal reception the first one did from the press this time around.

If I get it then I'll be waiting until December time.

To all tha Gears 1.5 stuff. Seriously what do you people expect? Better graphics? That game has some of tha best graphics Ive seen. Its not gonna get much better. They have added more into tha story, tha gameplay, and overall everything else, tha lighting is better also! They really didnt need to improve too much on tha graphics, Gears 1 is still one of tha best looking games around!

So when you say Gears 1.5 ..... then all your looking at is from a graphical point of view.... us Gears fans will tell you, this is a TRUE Gears 2!

Meatshields and new executions, flipping over tables for cover, flying on reavers, fighting AND riding tha Brumak, new maps, better online modes, Horde, a way better story/campaign, do I need to go on here??

The co-op campaign is given so much thought.

This is exactly what I was talking about. All of Gears 2's scale is from far away and isn't interactive. There are no points where there is more than 10 Locusts on screen. The only time there are tons of stuff on screen is with the little lower polygon monsters, and then when they are around, no locusts are.

The Brumack fights you like you are playing a old school games where the enemy is in the background and you shoot at its soft spots, while there is absolutely NO chance of him ever walking up to you, and climbing over your impervious cover.

I wouldn't say any of this crap if there wasn't so much nonsense garbage spewed on this site 247 about how amazing the unreal engine is.

Outside of you shooting at characters you couldn't shoot in Gears 1, oh and the rail shooting parts where you know you cant go backwards and free roam--but ill wait for confirmation of that ;), what did they do to improve the ACTUAL game you play? Not the BACKGROUNDS that you cant even interact with. There is no significant leap from gears 1 in terms of technology or even game play. Epic had Rail shooting in the Unreal series I'm not signing that off as a new trick for them.

Gears is going to be a great fun game, just like the first, and thats ALL that matters. But stop trying to hype up the Unreal Engine. Anytime you do, just watch this video again and wonder to yourself why isn't anything like the Tech Demo that we were all so excited about, not 1 single element from that demo made it in. Not one.

I didn't put it in the game, Epic did. Its to BS the 'large scale' parts instead of actually developing a larger scale Gears, there will clearly just be large scale 'chase' parts.

Its something that I called out early on after seeing the first few vids. Many disagreed. Now we are here, launch is approaching, and there is nothing from the tech demo that we have seen from any stills/videos/previews nothing.

How on earth could you be impressed by this if you play other games outside of the ones on the 360? Impressed HOW? It looks great, but its Gears 1.5. I'd be impressed if epic ever delivered on their bullshots:

you would have discerned that Gears 2 essentially improves on the same formula as Gears 1. Bearing that in mind, it necessarily follows that Gears 2 will be similar to gears 1, regarding cover mechanics.

The rail shooting showcased in the video is disproportionate to the actual game play of act I. Judging by the written review, Gears will still be very much about duck & run gameplay. Okay?

When you have to deal a fair amount of damage towards a single enemy, have 60 on screen doesn't make sense now, does it???

You have only seen 1 and half minutes of the game, so how can you keep spouting out non sense that you don't have a clue on what your talking about. The Unreal engine is fantasic in that it is constanly undated. What you did last game, you can do more realistic and better looking in the next game, cause the engine is being upgraded all the time. This game is looking fantastic, and I can easily say the only thing looking to be in the same category is Killzone.

And your right, Gears is gonna be a great fun game, GOTY contender for sure. And every time I do watch the video again, I am impressed with the graphics.

Go look at what the chimera do in Resistance 2.

OR, they run straight at you.

Gears AI take cover and somtimes in the right area they flank your position.
