Square Enix's New Game "Left Alive" for PS4 and PC Gets Full Trailer; Shows First Gameplay

Square Enix finally lifts the curtain on its new mecha game Left Alive for PS4 and PC, directed by Toshifumi Nabeshima and featuring art by Yoji Shinkawa.

Haha was going to submit this as well but beat me too it.

I have to say I am really hyped for this. I have been wanting a new Armored Core title for a long time now, and this pretty much looks to be a spiritual spinoff series but better. Throw in some MGS style art, bad guys, gameplay, and I have to say I think i have found my most anticipated title in a very long time.

Toshifumi Nabeshima (Armored Core), Yoji Shinkawa and Takayuki Yanase (Metal Gear), and Shinji Hashimoto (Final Fantasy)... like literally i cannot. 100% probably overhyped AF but like i said I have been waiting a long time for a proper mech game. I mean we have had Dark Souls 2, Bloodborne, and Dark Souls 3 since Armored Core (V)erdict day. I wonder if this is in anyway related to the Armored Core title FromSoftware is supposedly developing... tho probably not?

Was thinking the same thing. The title says first gameplay footage but then the actual trailer states not actual gameplay footage.

I thought maybe it was just for the cg scenes but maybe it's also a concept of how the game might look when it releases.

Showing a 3 second clip doesn't mean that is how the gameplay will actually look, especially when in the beginning it states Not Actual Gameplay.

Why would they have that shown for an obvious CG movie.

It's gameplay though. It involves running mechanics, what looks like potential stealth gameplay, shooting at enemies from behind cover, shooting at giant mecha head-on, and clearly resembles third-person shooter gameplay that we've all seen many times in other games. The quality is also different (worse) than the CGI scenes so it's obvious that it represents what it is: gameplay. If it wasn't, then why does it look so starkly different from a quality standpoint and something clearly taken from the current build of the game & engine?

The "not actual gameplay" refers to the CGI scenes, I thought that much would be obvious to the common mind. There's no need to deflect or try and save face, just watch the whole thing next time.

Stop trying to defend and start an argument. I did watch the whole thing as we both (rawfodog) acknowledged the obvious CG parts.

There has been many games that have shown early footage and the end result was nothing from what was shown.

We have many trailers before that didn't have that disclaimer. It was strange to see it for this.

Metal Gear is a series of games, not just cutscene. I could understand that if you were analysing the gameplay (which is probably still in alpha). Next up, CGI reveal trailers are almost never representative of the final product, so I'm not really sure what your point is. Now, if Square Enix aren't spending as much money on luxuriously pointless CGI that won't represent the final game, then that would mean that more budget is likely going into the actual game, rather than wasted on early promotional materials. That is a deeper way of looking at it, but you're just here with the shallow drive-by, pretending you actually didn't have the intention to come on to this PC/PS4 game article to harvest something negative out of it. Your Twitter presence doesn't make any attempt to make a graphic talking about "7 exclusive games on PS4", or to hide the fact that you associate with and admire some of the most toxic Xbox fanboys around. Segata' s story script and game design would have been much better than bleak colors and tones for a game about war across the land. Here's how he would have had it if he had the choice.

"The Rainbow Mechs have ravaged the Earth... only the Radiant Rainbow Renegades can save the Earth from impending doom... Dr. Colors has created a hope for Earth.. the RGB Accelerator Cannon, capable of blasting beautiful colors and tones at the enemy, obliterating them with the entire color spectrum... If only Segata had made this game, it definitely would have been better than those tools behind MGS, Final Fantasy, and Front Mission. What do they know? Now Segata knows how a game SHOULD be made..

It doesn't look good enough to be fox engine. It's early, so I'm sure things will get ironed out and refined but from the screenshots to the short clips of gameplay NONE of that looked good. Animation, character models and environments all look pretty sub par.

The engine only looks as good as the assets you feed it. I made my comment because the image quality looks very similar to how Fox renders. The lighting feels very similar too.

Didn't show much game play, but I'll be keeping a close eye on this. I love metal gear, and this looks like a mech version with full blown human v mech battle. Kinda like how metal gear should have done its battles.
