Sega Should Just Remake the Entire Yakuza Series at This Point

Twinfinite Writes: With the release of Yakuza Kiwami and a second game just announced, it almost seems like Sega might as well do the same for the rest of the games.

Yakuza is starting to feel the Japanese equivalent of Assassin's Creed with the amount of games in the series SEGA is pumping out

Yakuza is generally a better game than Assassin's Creed can ever dream to be. The open world has a purpose, the story is generally way more serious and cohesive, sidequests that are actually fun and make you want to do them, it goes on.

Yakuza's releases in the West have been fragmented and frayed. The first two games are ancient and only on PS2(PS3 and Wii U remasters in Japan only). The new Kiwami remakes allow the whole world to experience the core story that's found in Yakuza 1 & 2 along with 0 in a modern way. Yakuza 3 is only on disc and incredibly hard to find, Yakuza 5 is only digital. Yakuza 3,4, and 5 is only on PS4. With the remakes and hopefully a Yakuza 3, 4, and 5 port to PS4 with the upcoming Yakuza 6 will allow the entire series to be played on one system and be purchasable digitally and physically.

I'm not sure what prompted your original comment, I assume you thought you were being funny. I never knew how much fun the Yakuza series was until I played Yakuza 0, and now I want them all like everyone else. So for what you to say what you did is pretty ignorant, I assume you never played any Yakuza game, so I'm not sure why you even bothered commenting.

Meant to say "Yakuza 3, 4, and 5 can only be found on PS3, not PS4.

Hardiman2449d ago

I hope they do as I'm just getting into the series and I'm sure I'm not alone. Also from what I've read about the games in the Yakuza series they are really good so just because there is a lot of games to re release, they are still great games that will be even better! It's a win win.

New-Breed2451d ago

Read the title and immediately agreed

Sm00thNinja2451d ago

YES AT LEAST GIVE ME A COLLECTION remaster of 3 through 5. 0 Was my first Yakuza game and I'm in love picking up Kiwami in 15 min. Can't be more excited

Shadowsteal2450d ago

I'm sure that one is coming, who knows they might even fully remake them with all the newest additions to the later games in the series. I'd be okay with just a port though. Just need them on PS4 lol. Man I hope people buy the shit out of these games. Yakuza is such a sleeper hit. To me it's like if Persona met Grand Theft Auto. That's the best way I can explain it to my friends when I tell them about it lol.

Sm00thNinja2450d ago

Super underappreciated I agree

FallenAngel19842451d ago

Nah Yakuza 1 & 2 were remade because they were only on PS2. All the other games are on modern HD consoles

GrimReaperGamer2450d ago

If Sega aren't going to remake 3-5, then at the very least give me a Yakuza Collection for games 3-5 on PS4.

Shadowsteal2450d ago

I'm sure they will, they're not going to just expect people to play 3-5 on the PS3 after we play 0, 1, 2, and 6 on PS4.

philm872450d ago (Edited 2450d ago )

No. They are terrible games imo.

Shadowsteal2450d ago

Clearly, you've never played them. It's honestly the most fun I've had in a game in a long time, amazing voice acting, ridiculous voice acting, a generally top-notch serious Yakuza story. You know a game has good gameplay when you want* to run into enemies so you can beat them to a pulp.

philm872450d ago (Edited 2450d ago )

Played about 15 hours of Yakuza 0, which felt like a grind. Just wasn't for me to be honest, couldn't see what the hype about Yakuza is. Just my opinion though, glad others get enjoyment out of them. Probably should have put a more detailed comment above.

Then keep those comments to your self or we'll dab at you haters.

Red Dead 2 ? Who would ever want to play that slow ass bloated overly long game twice ! Not to mention going through those awfully designed main missions.

Storm23389d ago

Agreed. I couldn't even finish it the first time.

DankSinatra389d ago

I mean, I did. I enjoyed every bit of the 3 times I played through it. Just because you didn’t enjoy it doesn’t mean others won’t. Not every game is for everyone.

Demetrius389d ago

Ikr I thoroughly enjoyed red dead 2 one of the best open world games

Levii_92389d ago

But the first game is one of my favourite games ever.. i have no idea what happend with the second game but Rockstar needs to change it’s game design, especially how those main missions are designed. It’s severly outdated. Oh and actually make the gameplay enjoyable and not so slow and clunky.

Believe me, I recently replayed the first one and it’s worse in both structure and game design. Don’t let nostalgia misplace that. RDR 2 is definitely an improvement but it’s rockstar in general that needs to open up their handholding on missions.

Some games have good incentives for multiple playthroughs but you can never beat experiencing it for the first time. Caelid for the first time? Mindblowing. Second time around it's just Caelid again.

Abear21388d ago

Bioshock, Skyrim, and Darkest Dungeon for me

gold_drake388d ago

definitely the Soul games and Bloodborne haha.
