EA have confirmed that Battlefield 1 Revolution is available now; pulling BF1 and the premium pass together, but is it too soon for this type of release?

They do this all the time. The early adopters pay full price but these editions help keep the community alive.

MegaMohsi2472d ago

Agreed but these are out usually a full year after the initial release, this came out like 9 months after and all of the DLC hasn't come out yet lol.

Tankbusta402472d ago (Edited 2472d ago )

Yeah I normally don't ever buy season passes but I bought this and I have been playing off and on because the DLC is taking a mind boggling amount of time to come out. So far one full DLC so far? Whats going on, you can only play the same maps so many times before it just gets old.

jjb19812472d ago

In a complete package. Yes its usually after all DLC but there's a sale of the base game and the season pass separately but both at discount that equates to the original base price when added together.

Movefasta19932472d ago

I haven't even played the beta smh, this is great for me.Got sick of fps a while back.

Stormswrath42472d ago

I think it's great. I couldn't believe when I saw they were releasing this version that comes with everything already. I jumped right on it.

Yi-Long2472d ago

For me it comes too late. BF1 looks to be great, I liked the beta, but the Season Pass, as usual, kept me from buying the game.

Now Battlefront 2 will be coming out, no Season Pass to split up the community, so instead of buying Battlefield 1 now, I rather just wait and jump on Battlefront 2 on day 1, and enjoy that for a few years.

_-EDMIX-_2472d ago

Don't let it.

I don't even see the point in not buying a game based on it having a season pass.

Simply don't buy the season pass. I mean...you have to like the game before you really could care about any DLC in the first place. Don't read too much into the whole "splitting community" thing, trust me....you are not going to notice much when MILLIONS buy a game. Most don't even buy the DLC, so you'd actually be with the majorty when playing online.

Its not as if you come online and no one is playing and everyone is on DLC. I have over 200 hours in BF1 and I have no plans to buy any of the DLC. Yet.....I live lol

Trust me, its not that serious and you might have been missing out on many games because of this misconception. I mean...sure, its happening, but I don't think its feasible for anyone person to actually even notice that during a game with this much people. Its just something that isn't as noticeable as folks might try to exaggerate.

Why miss out? I don't have any DLC, I'm playing the game right now and I'm telling you nothing is wrong with it and I can enter matches just fine and tons are playing it. So you can't have all the content for free so you don't buy the game at all? LMFAO!

Exactly what is your point for even playing any game if that is the goal? Free content isn't going to make a crappy game better..... You still have to like the game first.

Yi-Long2472d ago

Season Passes tend to divide (and kill) the online community between haves and have nots. I've sene it with BF3, with BF4, from both ends.

With BF3, I didn't get the Season Pass, and right when the DLC released, you could already see there was just a huge drop in numbers of the people playing on the base-maps, and later on all the maps. Those who didn't have the DLC, just dropped the game. Those who did have the DLC, went to those new maps, and after a while few people played those maps, so those were dead as well.

With BF4 the same thing, but I did have the Season Pass (bought the complete bundle in a nice deal in the PS Store) It's nice to have all those extra maps, but let's be honest, most of them are often completely empty.

So that's why I avoid Season Passes for online MP games. It just breaks up the community which means it will die out.

With games like Rocket League, Overwatch, and pretty soon Battlefront 2, you see most folks keep coming back to it, and that new content keeps bringing those folks back, as well as bringing new people in. So that means a much longer life-span of the game, and like I said, it keeps bringing NEW people in, so I'd argue it's a better financial model as well.

They could keep the base-game at 40-60 bucks for 2-3 years, instead of dropping it to 15-20 bucks as they've done with most games. As long as the support is there with new content and servers are full of people having a blast, new people will want to come and join the fun, thus buy that game.

@Yi- ". I've sene it with BF3, with BF4, from both ends. "

Buddy, I have over 300 hours in both titles.

I didn't buy any of the DLC, in fact I only got the DLC for BF4 cause EA gave it for free.

It never stopped me from going into matches. Yes, for the over all community in terms of hundreds of thousands yes...it is a thing, for the player individually.....not really.

Unless you telling me you play with 100k gamers every day individually and notice something lol

I get you are in support of the community staying together, I am too, but I'm not basing buying a damn game over this LMFAO! You are saying you won't have fun with a game, because a few 100k might be playing DLC, yet ignoring that MORE DON'T BUY THE DLC. I'm not going to notice a shift in 100k people buddy, I play with normal maps all the time and have no issue putting in MASSIVE hours in these games. Do I want the community all together? Sure, why not.

Does that effect me buying the game or not? No, not even slightly. I've NEVER based buying a game based on DLC or season pass or anything like that, I'd be damned if I start NOT buying games based on that. Its silly and doesn't even make any sense. So you didn't have fun with a BF based on a few folks buying DLC, disregarding that most don't? Its not as if the game is unplayable and zero people play it when the DLC comes out buddy, you folks are exaggerating this issue to a HUGE degree. Again...I play the BF series and don't buy its DLC and have no issue playing for years on end. I'd argue most feel this way considering Premium only moves about 4 million buyers vs like 17 million folks who buy BF.

I don't see this such a big issue, I will miss out on a fun game.

Your loss buddy. What are you even gaining missing out on a game you want to play? lol

https://www.engadget.com/20...

https://battlefieldtracker....

BF has one of the most active communities in gaming, MOST games are not having that much people still playing a PS4 and XONE LAUNCH game. When an average of 70k are playing a game still, clearly they are doing something correct and someone is still playing. Trust me, you are exaggerating this big time. I'd never miss a game based on such nonsense. I agree it needs to stick together, but its not SOOOOOO bad that you need to not buy it.

So what? you've earned or gained something missing out on BF1? Based own what you "think" its like? lol Come on buddy, I own BF1 and its not some barren wasteland.

Dirtnapstor2472d ago (Edited 2472d ago )

Yes too soon. It's not right. If all the DLC had been released prior, then sure. And I get a type of flash sale now and then. But as a general rule? Nope. I'm thinking we have a few installments yet to come, yes? They needed to wait or do something really really special for early adopters.
So what would be the incentive for us to invest upfront if they pull this long before all the DLC is out? Wrong.

DICE Needs To Recapture The Magic Of Battlefield 1 In The Next Game

For DICE to succeed with its next game, it has to return to the roots of the franchise. Atmospheric map design, clear and defined class-based gameplay, attention to detail, and total chaos. Battlefield 1 feels like every rock, every glint on your sniper rifle, every falling brick from a collapsing church, has been painstakingly considered. So much care went into the design of the game, from its soundtrack to its costume department. To stand a chance alongside the behemoths of Treyarch and Infinity Ward, DICE needs to recapture what made their old games so brilliant, otherwise it’s all over.

"DICE Needs To Recapture The Magic Of Battlefield 3 In The Next Game"

/Fixed

...on a serious note, DICE needs to remove the Battlefield name.

isarai564d ago

Eh, bfbc2 was the peak for me, only ad dogfighting and the accommodations that come with it. Every BF after that was such an unsatisfying progression system for weapons and gear for the classes, 90% of the guns feel exactly the same when you unlock them, just felt boring in comparison. Not to mention the gimped destruction as the series progressed

Sciurus_vulgaris564d ago

I found Battlefield 1 to be overrated. The gameplay was simpler and less strategic than its predecessors. Battlefield 1 did have a woo-factor, but the gameplay got repetitive faster than Battlefield 4 in my opinion.

porkChop563d ago

If DICE needs to return to the roots of the franchise then why would they look at Battlefield 1? BF1 is overly simplified and streamlined. What DICE should focus on is Battlefield 3 and Bad Company 2. Those two games were the pinnacle of the franchise.

TheEnigma313563d ago

BC2 was the best. they need to get back to that.

Battlefield 1, Hardline, BF4 Servers Are Being Taken Offline by Cheaters; EA Silent on Issue

Cheaters & hackers have been causing grief on Battlefield 1, Hardline & BF4 servers, with nonstop DDoS attacks among other things. Unfortunately, EA has remained silent about it.

-Foxtrot794d ago

Course they are silent, they are hoping people flock to 2042

gamesftw250793d ago

Maybe it was a inside job then haha.

jeromeface793d ago

wouldnt be the first time, titanfall 1+2 anyone?

PapaBop793d ago

Not even if they paid me.. EA always do this with old games with less money potential, if this was Ultimate Team, they'd address and sort it faster than stories could spread. Why invest time in their products when they will just dump it in the following years? Then again EA never could see the forest for the trees.

Inverno793d ago

I imagine after those games were given out for free a couple months back through Amazon, anything that makes people go to 2042 is a plus for them

XiNatsuDragnel794d ago

They want people to go on 2042. My theory

excaliburps793d ago

Nah. I think they can't do anything about it or they want to sink money into fixing it.

Pudge102888793d ago (Edited 793d ago )

EA owns all BF servers so yes, they can do something about it but they refuse to because they dont want ppl playing their old games instead of the new one. Its EA we’re talking about here

pr33k33793d ago

if this happened in 2042, they'd have something to say. which is weird, considering battlefield 1 has more players on steam right now.

Pudge102888793d ago

Its so obvious that EA is doing this or hired ppl to mess up the games so that we’d be forced to have just 1 Battlefield working.

FPS_D3TH793d ago

Honestly it’s probably the devs themselves. They did an update to bf4 way back that kinda made assault rifles doo doo in hopes that people would flock to BF1 cuz BF4 was too perfect

Grabbed Panzer Dragoon, the Darkness, Conker Reloaded, Burnout Revenge, Time Splitters 2, Fight Night Champions, and Stuntman Ignition.

Essentially some of the classics that I can't get on PC, now that I have a Series S.
