Ubi: No Two Players Can Have The Same Experience in AC Origins; The Extra Year Allowed High Quality

Ubisoft's Jean Guesdon stressed the importance of having an extra year while developing Assassin's Creed Origins to deliver high quality.

He also stated that no two players can possibly have the same experience in the game.

This is PR nonsense. Tons of players will have identical experiences. You can't code the game to be 100% unique across millions of players...

Still looking forward to the game, just wish developers/publishers would quit all the nonsense talk.

Gh05t2470d ago

Its all technical jargon... when they add random encounters, not everyone will receive the same encounters at the same time or the same order or the same location, so they could easily make it so no one plays the exact game the same way, but it doesnt mean that every person wont experience essentially the same thing. Making the "No Two Players Can Have The Same Experience" statement lose all value. So I played and the first thing that happened to me was I fought a lion, but you played and it was a Templar... DIFFERENT, but the next fight I had a Templar and you had a lion so essentially, The same.

I hate when people talk like its something amazing when its something shallow.

Bigpappy2469d ago (Edited 2469d ago )

It is an open world that allows for many different approaches to taking on your enemies and the order in which you do your quest. You also chose which abilities you want to apply as you level and each weapon you choose to fight with has a different attack and defense mechanism.

So surely from that you can see how all of those combination add up to most having unique experiences, No?
Given the facts I have laid out, it is therefore NOT "PR nonsense".

This reminds me of how Peter Molyneux uptalked Fable II. "INFINITE POSSIBILITIES"

"Having an extra year while developing Assassin's Creed Origins to deliver high quality"
Sorry but I can't see it, yes the world looks fantastic the rpg elements look good and refreshing but the combat and gameplay looks mediocre and boring, this is the main thing they needed to focus on make the gameplay outstanding and different not try and copy the Witcher 3 and make it worse.
W3 combat was good because it had gore which made W3 not as boring because of the legs and arms flying everywhere.

I just liked seeing a year break between titles. Using that to polish the game even further is even better.

Timesplitter142470d ago (Edited 2470d ago )

At this point, even with a year break, the AC franchise still remains milked to oblivion and I can 100% guarantee everyone's gonna have the exact same experience of this game.

It's gonna be a good old stardard Ubisoft game:
- Big open world that is as soulless as it is large
- Crazy production values all focused on quantity and not quality
- No interesting concept whatsoever because the marketing team doesn't like when things get interesting and it alienates some potential customers
- "So many ways to play!" You can enter a building through the door on the right OR on the left!

StuffAndThings2470d ago

Any franchise that makes money is milked to oblivion

Goldby2470d ago

the simple fact that every skill can be unlocked meaning everyone will be a jack of all trades assassin and amaster of none means we will be experiencing everything everyone else does.

You want different playstyles for the people. limit the amount of skills we can unlock so we actually have to decide what we want to focus on,

i've had enough of these, uber powerful end games where nothing is challenging

Saijahn2470d ago

You can say that about most triple a games, especially yearly games. If you're looking for innovation, you have the wrong hobby my friend.

bluefox7552470d ago (Edited 2470d ago )

Agreed. No matter how polished it is, it's still the same damn formula. People might say: "Well, every open world game is like that, just look at Horizon Zero Dawn!", and they would have a point, but at least they did something interesting with the gameplay by making it fun and dynamic. AC doesn't need to reinvent the wheel, but they do need to think of a new and creative way to package it, IMO.

Bleucrunch2470d ago

That is a fantastic explanation as to why I do not mess with the Assassin's creed franchise, I dabbled in Black Flag only because I love games with Pirates in them.

I am not going to get this game either, maybe borrow or rent it but Ubisoft is a company that has great ideas for games but just brutal with execution.

EyeAmTJ2469d ago

no franchise is more milked than Mario

Dark_Knightmare22463d ago

Except almost every hands on preview form gaming sites have stated the exact opposite so yeah keep hating. People complained ac neeeded a break so they gave it a break and when this releases it will have been just shy of two years since syndicate which was amazing btw yet people still complain. The opinions of critics who have got hands on time with it have said it's still ac at its core because of course it's going to be but with plenty of refinements and additions that make it feel fresh. I have no worries everything they've showed and said as sounded great so I'm happy I preordered the deluxe edition and almost have it paid off.

This is my most anticipated game this Fall!

Dark_Knightmare22463d ago

Yeah you go dude you tell him what game he's supposed to have as his most anticipated smh gtho with your condescension the dude can look forward to any game he wants

KaiPow2471d ago

I hope to see some drastic changes from the usual formula!

andrewsquall2470d ago

Have you SEEN the footage from E3? A few changes, okay, but certainly nothing "drastic".

SoulMikeY2470d ago

The combat has seen "drastic" changes. And that is one of the most important pieces. Nioh, the Surge, Bloodborne, and Dark Souls have never gotten old. Even after 200+ hours on each. That's what makes it fun. Fun gameplay + average story is still a great game to me.

Dark_Knightmare22463d ago

The way their handling sidequests and main quests is drastically different then previous ac games along with the combat, exploration, leveling system etc

sizeofyou2470d ago

I don't know about anyone else but the voices don't seem to fit. Looks nice...but sounds annoying!!

DeadSilence2471d ago (Edited 2471d ago )

High quality? Lmao

High quality is Witcher, Horizon, Bloodborne, Forza Horizon.

Assassins Creed Games are low quality in comparison.

Maybe he is talking high quality when compared to older ACs.

Well the last ac game syndicate was high quality
