Damn! I'm out. What the hell is wrong with Ubisoft? I was looking forward to this one. The E3 trailer looked awesome.

Name Last Name2475d ago (Edited 2475d ago )

This was obviously a multiplayer focused game.

thekhurg2475d ago

Hopefully they'll charge 1/2 price then.

Mr Pumblechook2475d ago

Let me save you the trouble, their answer is 'NO.'

Ubisoft, how's 'For Honour' working out for you?

Jaypi032475d ago

@Mr Pumblechook, The community is still there, also For Honor had a single player...I think MP Only games work, they just have to be honest about it, Rainbow Six Siege, and other games like TF2 or Overwatch survive just fine.

FinalFantasyFanatic2475d ago

@J-pi3,

To be fair, games like Titanfall 2 and Overwatch get a nice steady stream of DLC or should I say updates (it's more like updates since you don't pay for alot of it).

Jinger2475d ago

@J-pi3

TF2 has a single player, and its actually awesome. That being said the original did just fine without SP.

Sam Fisher2475d ago

As i said bare and bones, this game needs more. Ubi has great ideas but then cuts the game halfway and sells it for 60$ bc they know they are the only ones with these types of games. Shit pisses me off. Last ubi game i bought was ghost. Im done with ubi bs. And wtf is splinter cell is about that time

annoyedgamer2475d ago

Splinter cell will be another generic co-op game like rainbow six with DLC characters.

rdgneoz32475d ago

"Instead, Skull & Bone's story will be told over the course of many months and years."

$60 and lots and lots of DLC nickle & diming...

Nesflix2475d ago

Skull and Bones? Oh, you mean Assassin's Creed Black Flag Naval Combat DLC.

FinalFantasyFanatic2475d ago

I like Assassin's Creed Black Flag's navel combat, so fun, defiantly my favorite game in the series.

Yi-Long2475d ago (Edited 2475d ago )

I was excited about the game in the few moments I thought it was going to be a spiritual follow-up to Black Flag.

Turns out it isn't, and it just seems like a big bore to me.

psuedo2475d ago

Theres some space combat game on the PS4 thats like the Assassins creed naval combat. Dont know if its multi console, but its more like being in the ocean rather than space in whatever the game was. Its an older one.

CrimsonWing692475d ago

You had one job to do, Ubi... now you done *@!ED it UP!!!

Skull and Bones’ “tremendous response” to Season 1 may surprise you

I wonder how much Ubisoft payed for this article to be written.

Skuletor9h ago

I wonder how much a AAAA journalist would cost too.

BeHunted8h ago(Edited 8h ago)

Maybe it was Sony?

OtterX2h ago

Reminds me of the E3 after the Fallout 76 launch, where the Bethesda team came out on stage hyping how great the game was and had people actually cheering in the audience. (Despite all the negative reviews and feedback floating around the internet at that time.)

RhinoGamer8810h ago

Does anyone have accurate gameplay numbers from Steam or PSN? I smell snow job...

Profchaos6h ago(Edited 6h ago)

I recall seeing a fairly low concurrent player base that was helped by the free trial (likely the metric they are using internally to push for season 2)

S2Killinit10h ago

If true, it goes to show that the negative press response was not reflecting reality. I personally thought omitting land traversal was a huge miss. But i also thought there was some things that were great about it. Lets see which story was true and which was made up (or worse, paid for)

Friendlygamer10h ago

No data just pr talk. The same site has an article talking about how the price of the game was slashed quickly post release, these sites treat us like fools lol

InUrFoxHole10h ago

What exactly is you're arguement? Did you read the article?

jjb198110h ago

They're right. There is no argument either. The game is a turd and Ubisoft is doubling down on that turd. It's all fancy PR talk with no actual substance. I don't know what "argument" you're looking for. I read the article. It sounds like Ubisoft asked for a redo on their "AAAA" "game". Trash game and trash company.

Friendlygamer9h ago(Edited 9h ago)

Price decrease articles are typically made to make it seem like a gaming is flopping, they're often poorly researched and meaningless.
The article about the game thriving is also meaningless because it contains no data, it's basically corporate propaganda, even suicide squad is getting a season 2

In resume, not only this site plays both sides, it does it lazily and cynically because they don't care about quality, what they care about is clicks from us ( fools )

InUrFoxHole9h ago(Edited 9h ago)

@ jb
🤣 all it says is thanksfor the support. It's not like they're saying hey it's better than what you've seen come buy it. Lol you guys will whine about anything
@ Friendly
Gotcha when you referenced the other articles was like... uh doesn't that make it non biased? Basically you prefer stats with these articles or some sort of metric. I'm tracking. All I can say is... not everything is an amazing read or comment on n4g, lol. Game on!

Friendlygamer9h ago(Edited 9h ago)

Skull and bones TReMENDoUS ReSPoNSe. Prove it gaming journalist !! Prove it

jjb19817h ago(Edited 7h ago)

@InYourFaceHole Use all the emojis you need in order to feel better. Your latest comment is just a "save face" comment. Everybody knows you're a Ubisoft simp now. I hope you got what you wanted with your $190 Rare Earth Metal Ultimate Clandestine Epic Edge Lord Edition.

I think I platinumed it, It was awesome especially the first time you come across the horde

peppeaccardo30d ago

One of the best open world zombie game ever. Very engaging great story graphics and all.
These mofo should go back playing starfield and change phil's diaper.
GFYS!!

RhinoGamer8810h ago

Truly a surprise play for me. Had a blast, after 3 patches...

thorstein30d ago

The Order 1886 wasn't disappointing.

It was great.

Maybe do an article about Games Journalists Lied About. That would be a good read.

FPSRUSSIA30d ago (Edited 30d ago )

I Agree The order 1886 is Great but Short to bad there wont be a Sequel since the Developers Moved on to other Platforms.

DustMan30d ago

I thought it was great while it lasted. As soon as things got interesting and the action picked up the game ended. When it was over I legit was like "that's all of it?"

jimb0j0nes30d ago

Sure, the campaign was terrible, but MW3 isn't even the top three most disappointing COD games...

anast30d ago

That's a lot of Bethesda games on that list. Where's Starfield?

TwoPicklesGood30d ago

Whole lot of Sony games with Forsaken, Days Gone, Risen of the Ronin, and The Order 1886.

anast30d ago

In reality only one of those Sony games is actually just okay, and the others are good to solid. Whereas the Bethesda ones are objectively bad.

Tacoboto30d ago

Two of those Sony games aren't Sony games and the two that actually are, Sony clearly agreed based on their cutting ties with longtime partner Ready at Dawn and their well-reported rejection of DG2.

I'd like to check out The Order someday soon and see how it holds up since that style of shorter game fits my mood lately, but Forspoken was uniformly panned and RotR is a sign that Team Ninja needs to ease off the gas a bit to focus on quality over quantity.

Tacoboto30d ago

Suicide Squad being at number 2 or even in this list seems like a freebie - its existence alone was disappointing, I don't think many people actually had positive expectations for it near release.

Not having Starfield at all feels like they're ignoring a huge conversation of last year. Even as someone that likes the game, ignoring its reception is head-in-the-sand at best and its restrictions were magnified by its release alongside Baldur's Gate 3. The disappointment many feel about it FARRRRR exceeds any disappointment people have for random third party titles like... Biomutant, and Exoprimal... Same could be said for reception around Forza Motorsport.

How much did they pay you? I’m kidding, there’s always crazy opinions out there that can be so off the mark it’s baffling. There’s so much better games out there worth 200 hours of your time than this.

FinalBoss53d ago

Haha, if only they had paid me, right? I wish, but they did not :)
But in all seriousness, I've been playing Skull and Bones since the closed beta, as I mentioned in my review, and I genuinely enjoyed it.
It's just my personal take on it. And whenI read review with others from the gaming press, I noticed that many critics have spent far less time with the game, sometimes around just 10 hours.
If you dive into my review, you'll see I'm not shy about pointing out the game's flaws alongside its strengths. It's all about sharing diverse opinions, and I appreciate yours!

ModsDoBetter54d ago

6-7 imo.

Base games on value.
I got 80hrs out of it before I burnt out, <0.70p per hour. Can't go wrong.

FinalBoss53d ago

That's a solid way to measure a game's worth! :)

I'm glad to hear you enjoyed your time with Skull and Bones for a good 80 hours before reaching your limit. I guess it's coincide with the factory grind. Now it's much better with their last update.
Thanks for sharing your viewpoint!

Patrick253d ago (Edited 53d ago )

Wow, based on this review I wouldn't trust your opinion on any game. This game is pure unmitigated trash. Whoever wrote the plot wouldn't know a good story if it ran over them with an 18 wheeler, and the gameplay is even worse. You couldn't give me this game if you put it in a PS5 that I was being given for free. It's a sorry excuse for a pirate game or a game in general. I'd give it a 3 at best.

FinalBoss53d ago

Based on your comment, it seems you might not have had a chance to play the game yourself and are perhaps basing your opinion on what's circulating online.
Just like how some people love pineapple on pizza while others see it as blasphemy, games can evoke a wide range of reactions. Everyone's entitled to their opinion, and it's totally okay for us to have different views on what makes a game enjoyable.

Noskypeno7h ago

I know right, someone can say that they have the highest rated IPA and I'll still prefer to have the most basic or even terrible margarita even if everyone mocks me for my basic taste, because I think ipas in my opinion taste like vomit that's stuck in my throat. I think there's no shame in having an unpopular opinion, and not just trying to get validation from others. And that pineapple on pizza thing, it sounds disgusting, but then you try it and then you realize it just works, I don't care if it's authentic Italian food, Dave Portnoy can suck it lol.
