Weirdly Enough, I Miss The Gamepad in Splatoon 2

It's been well over a week since I've been chipping away at Splatoon 2, and my final thoughts are just about to settle in. There's a lot to consider with this game, which I'll discuss in full in my upcoming review. However to avoid unloading every criticism and revelation in one piece, I figured I'd take the opportunity to highlight some small, but important points separately. This first starts with the absence of the Wii U Gamepad. As a staunch critic of the Gamepad, I've lamented numerous times in various platforms how much I despise that controller. Its cumbersome size and laughable hollow weight were the least of its problems. Pathetic battery life with an external charger, terrible display and resolution, and decade old single touch screen technology made the Gamepad one of the worst executed console controllers in history. Now tell me why I miss the damn thing when playing Splatoon 2.

It does takes getting used to. To me the gamepad was a major part of the game. The motion controls do fill in nicely when jumping to other players.

I've tried using motion to jump to other players, but since I use split joycons to play Splatoon, its a bit jittery for me.
