VGM Writes:
"NHL 09 offers a healthy selection of game modes and manages to throw in a couple of new features to this year's version, but ultimately it still rides on its ever solid core gameplay. Team Play Online and the new defensive controls are flawed, but at its core NHL 09 always manages to provide an enjoyable experience.
The NHL may not be as popular as the NFL or NBA, but the developers at EA Canada have created a superb sports game, and NHL 09 deserves to be recognized for what it accomplishes as a great video game, not measured by the popularity of its sport.
If you're a hard core hockey fan you won't want to miss this game. But even if you're not the most avid of ice hockey fans, if you want a well paced, physical, and easy to enjoy sports game, NHL 09 is one of the best sports games of the year and well worth your time."
Alex DS. from Link Cable Gaming writes: "With all this hockey hype in the air, we figured, what better time to look back at the best hockey video games to ever hit the ice."

Mark from GamersFTW asks what's the worst experience you've had playing video games?
Brings back memories of uni days :) Did once punch a wall I got so frustrated. Was either that or destroy a controller. Fortunately I didn't break anything, but unfortunately it was a solid brick wall and my knuckles hurt like s*** afterwards!
Everyone has felt a little bit furious when they were hit by a blue shell in Mario Kart.
Never injured myself but I do remember crying once because the video game character wouldnt do what I wanted it too... Arrrgghhh the frustration!
I actually threw a controller at my brother once for constantly button bashing and not giving me a chance to fight back during a Tekken match. God I was such a bad loser.
Mario Kart is a big culprit. Never thrown anything in anger, but caused massive arguments between my best friend and I. I also hurt myself spinning around on a computer chair in victory and falling backwards.
Natalya in Goldeneye I never wanted to hurt someone so much.
And for pure, unbridled fury... CALL OF DUTY being verbally abused by 11 year olds is not my idea of gaming bliss.
am not a fan of sports. Growing up as a “hardcore” gamer, sports never really appealed to me, especially watching them. While I understand the rules and regulations of a large majority of sports, they just don’t have the same draw to me as they do to others. Why would I freak out about the achievements of other people? So when it comes to playing a game based on activities that I don’t really watch? No thank you. Why write an article about a sports game that is five years old? Because, this small game has lead to me to becoming a screaming fanatic, if only for a short while.
