...and makes you redownload 35 GB all over again. Wish they would just separate the SP and MP so we dont have to waste our time downloading updates for part of the game we dont care about.

Sureshot2485d ago

Poor you! C'mon man this is a solid gesture on id's part. Hardly worth complaining about.

TheROsingleB2485d ago

Sure, ID is "doing us a solid" but some people have bandwidth caps or still incredibly slow internet. 35GB is a LOT, even with a fast connection. Definitely worth complaining about, especially if you don't give a crap about the Multiplayer, which is most of what this is.

DARK_WOLF2485d ago (Edited 2485d ago )

If you cant dl 35gb then stick with last gen or stay offline.

35gb is normal and going into 4k gen itl get much bigger.

IaMs122485d ago

Don't blame ID for your data caps, go to your ISP about that.

Army_of_Darkness2484d ago

Gawdamn people these days... Always Complaining about something! Even when its a nice update with free dlc?! Lol! Like wtf?! Just accept the generous offer, smile and STFU.

Zjet2485d ago

I agree. It would be really cool if Devs could even sell single player and multiplayer seperate. Kind of like how they did with Killzone 3 and Starhawk

EddieT2485d ago

"Thanks for my birthday present....Wow you didn't wrap it very well did you"

iofhua2485d ago

This is more like throwing the present through your bedroom window.

OpenGL2485d ago

I only use SSDs on my computers so I'm annoyed that there's 50GB of multiplayer shit that I will never play.

Bobafret2485d ago

There is a solution for that. Don't DL it. Can't believe the bitching I am seeing about free shit.

OpenGL2484d ago

That's not a solution Bobafret, you cannot disable updates on Steam.

DJStotty2485d ago

i know right a whole 20 minutes to download

C-H-E-F2485d ago

Wow, so you get a FREE update and you still want to cry... You sir are the epitome of what's with the world, so unappreciative of good gestures.

iofhua2485d ago

Agree. I can't wrap my head around the idiots who don't think this is an issue. They have to be kids who use their parent's internet.

35gb for an update is most definitely NOT normal. It's ridiculous and shows that ID doesn't know how to deploy patches for their own software. Instead of redownloading the entire game they should set it up to only download what you don't have yet. That's normal and it's what most MMO's do throughout their lifetime. The only reason ID can't do this is either incompetence or laziness.

I'm blessed that the ISP I have at the moment doesn't implement download caps, but that's not true for everyone and I feel for them.

If you don't pay for your own internet and haven't experienced a download cap before, please STFU and keep your ill-informed opinion to yourself.

txboy052484d ago

Its a free update bro, if your ISP has data limits thats your own fault. This is like blaming a gas station that is giving out free gas because you don't have enough gas to get there.

pinkcrocodile752485d ago

Talk about ungrateful! I bet if you were at the last supper you'd have asked for chips!

txboy052484d ago

I swear people these days complain about free stuff way too much ! Grow up !

Why can't all games do this, old games should get DLCs free after time.

AcidDvl2485d ago

Keep in mind that this is multiplayer DLC. They have released it to combine the community together again, probably because is much smaller now.

Story DLC still holds value forever. Multiplayer losses it's value because multiplayer eventually dies.

If all game would release the DLC for free, nobody would buy them, but rather wait until they're free.

The 10th Rider2485d ago

That's perfectly true. DLC should be seeing a heck of a lot more price-drops though, especially when it comes to multiplayer DLC.

Glemt2485d ago (Edited 2485d ago )

"Nobody would buy them" That's just an assumption. There is no proof all people would wait until DLC's turned free if this were a normal practice. One could even make a stronger argument for the opposite, since it's common practice that games receive a 50% discount from the recommended retail price within the first two years since its release, yet there is still a plethora of gamers buying games at launch. Why would, if DLC turned free after let's say four years, this same practice not be true there?

LordJamar2485d ago

well i disagree with the multiplayer loses its value part and dies but i get what you mean

_-EDMIX-_2485d ago

That seems extremely unlikely what you have to understand is there's lots of people that purchase downloadable content even with games that always have Game of the Year versions.

I mean that's almost like saying nobody would buy games if they knew they could just get it cheaper later on.

"Nobody" is just too absolute, I mean even you understand that you cannot possibly believe zero people would buy DLC if they knew it would be free months later.

Millions still buy games full price even 100% knowing for a fact it would be cheaper months later.

We could still have a good system of DLC that's given for free a year or two years after the release of a game or something.

I mean consider all those definitive editions and Game of the Year Edition have not suddenly stopped games from selling or DLC from selling etc

The 10th Rider2485d ago

@_-EDMIX-_,

It wouldn't even have to be free, either. It's a problem because older games are often forgotten about and not included in sales unless they're part of a major franchise or were wildly popular.

So oftentimes you can get an old game for cheap, but you still have to pay full price for the DLC, which is just preposterous. At the very least DLC should drop in price like a regular game does.

_-EDMIX-_2485d ago

@10th- Exactly! I understand that Publishers want to make money from the downloadable content even if you purchase the game used but I believe that lowering the price of the downloadable content or even making it free could increase the game sales.

Take for example if a game goes on sale on PlayStation Network let's say they sell it for 10 bucks or 15 bucks and then tell you the downloadable content is free they're still making money from that game versus you buying it used.

I believe it could also help grow their install base of fans that could possibly buy sequels.

I mean what better way to market the sequel than by giving the downloadable content away to the previous title?

I also like definitive editions and Game of the Year Edition helping lower the price to the overall content.

CrimzonRazor2485d ago

You need to let quake know multiplayer dies it came out in 96 and people still play it online. Kinda kills your whole argument if you think about it.

The 10th Rider2484d ago

@CrimzonRazor,

Not really, Quake is one out of a million multiplayer games. Titanfall is an example of a game that released just a few years ago and barely has a community left.

@_-EDMIX-_,

It's like, I'd be interested in buying the first Battlefront of the rebooted series, but the DLC still keeps the game stupid expensive. That doesn't even make any sense since the sequel comes out in just a few months. You'd think they'd be putting the first game on sale with all the DLC to a reasonable price to try and get people interested in buying the new one at launch. It's one reason I'm actually in favor of GOTY/Ultimate/Definitive/Delux e/Director's Cut editions of games. (The one reason I'm not a fan of them is because oftentimes they don't get the same post-launch patch support of the original games, so bugs can be introduced that weren't previously there and they may never get fixed. Some GOTY/Definitive/Ultimate edition games are worse than the originals because of this.)

Rimeskeem2485d ago

Im ok with paying for expansions but not for the second half of a game.

RosweeSon2485d ago

Yeah it's main reason I still haven't grabbed Star Wars battlefront season pass it's currently about £7.50 but feel within a month or 2 it'll prob be free once new game arrives same happened with battlefield 4 ;)

Smokingunz2485d ago

Because all people would have to do is j just wait for it to be free and ID wouldn't make any money

RosweeSon2485d ago

Of course they'd make money if game is good enough and last I saw it was free to play they had snazzy collectors editions and all sorts ID get money day one.

CoryHG2485d ago

Uh how bout we eliminate dlc

RosweeSon2485d ago

Only bad DLC I'm all good with content months after launch clearly made after launch and either free or for great value for money, burnout paradise is a great examples lots of free stuff then a paid extra island which was more than worth the cost especially after all the previous free DLC. GTA 4 is another great example as they had 2 of the best DLC's ever and even launch price was really great the fact they are always in the sales is even better but a good solid few extra hours of gameplay that adds to the experience or gives a different perspective rather than cash grab crap all over a good game here's some costumes here some online stuff that unless everyone buys no one will ever play as no one else has it. Max Payne season pass was pretty awful as it was all tied to the online which hardly anyone played let alone pay extra for the DLC.
Red dead had great DLC free and paid.
Stuff that's already on the disc and has been clearly cut from a game like extra modes levels and difficulties is just rubbish to say the least, Nintendo putting hard mode in season pass for Zelda is pretty weak... how about a master/mirror mode rather than just added difficulty that should be in the game as standard (hero mode) Mario Kart 8 DLC was fantastic value for money tho. Some DLC can be great others very weak and clearly after your money...
Season passes are just a waste of time at least on launch wait until the content is at least out not only that but start the game see if you enjoy it and get into it if it's then something you wanna continue season pass it is at which point the content will hopefully be ready and the whole season pass will prob be on sale. Season pass day 1 no content full price or wait get it half price and actually be able to download the content... doesn't take a genius ;)

RosweeSon2485d ago (Edited 2485d ago )

Time for bed apologies for the rambles haha maybe I should have just agreed but then I wanted to disagree but then I agree when it comes to EA ubisoft etcs attempts at DLC... or basically how can we continue to get money throughout the year for our yearly churns 💰💰💰 ;😩😉✌🏻

RommyReigns2485d ago

Exactly why I am waiting on Battlefield 1 maps to get free. DICE usually gives maps away for free after a year and a half like they did for Battlefield 4 and previous games.

Mr-Dude2485d ago

Well Bethesda... why the hell did I have to pay for the seasonpass in the first place! Can I have that money back?

akurtz2485d ago

how much was the season pass

SoulMikeY2485d ago

If you buy something new, it will cost more than if you wait. Also, some games just become free, like ps plus or games with gold. Do you demand money back if you bought a game that ends up being on ps plus?

Just like most games, things lose value, they don't gain it. Your comment is entitled and an invalid complaint.

XbladeTeddy2485d ago (Edited 2485d ago )

Look at it this way, at least owners of the DLC get to play with more people in multiplayer now. The player-base must be dwindling now. It's a win-win situation. I'm going to give online a go because of this.

Darkwatchman2484d ago

You're the sucker for paying for a season pass for a triple-A shooter
