This is why people can't get F-Zero. The market isn't as high for futuristic racing games

Neonridr2490d ago

or maybe because it's not F-Zero :P

Yeah, I agree though, it was a little sad to see these results.

ModiJi2491d ago

Very low sales. No market for these kind of games it seems. Shame.

Tapani2490d ago (Edited 2490d ago )

This is just retail, and this release will have legs due to its huge content making it a great value proposal, particularly at around $19.90 or 17.49€. I would imagine that between the original Wipeout HD PS3 release and now, the retail and digital purchase barometers have switched their positions, especially for these kind of low cost, good value, rich content titles that takes only third of an AAA titles HDD / SSD space and is otherwise suited for digital distribution much better. It's a good showcase for 4K native TVs in HDR, so when people buy Pro and 4K TVs more, then this title will be purchased to show them off.

Furthermore, it took probably around nine to twelve months to make the title, and given the amount of the assets they had available (possibly even some high resolution textures ready for 4K), they probably are making a nice profit out of let's say a guestimate: 200.000 copies.

ModiJi2490d ago

Hopefully what you are saying is true, my friend

roadkillers2490d ago

Yeah with Wipeout HD download only this probably sold the most on PSN.

TheOttomatic912490d ago

Yea I believe what your saying is correct I'm also one of those people who bought the game digitally.

DeadSilence2491d ago

Racing games these days have niche shares if your name isn't Gran Turismo.

Sad to see, Dirt also did quite bad.

Inzo2490d ago

Compared to GT, Forza is niche.

djplonker2490d ago (Edited 2490d ago )

Forza 3 sold 5 million

Forza 6 sold 1.9 million (400k in it's first week)

Forza might be saying hello but the fans are saying goodbye.

Chris122490d ago

@plonker - different consoles, different install bases.

Neonridr2490d ago

@djplonker - and GT sales have been on the steady decline too.. what's your point? As has been said, different consoles with different install bases at the times of release..

Onenyte2490d ago

On a decline ?

GT 5 moved over 10 million and GT 6 sold over 3.5 with being launched around the PS4

What are you actually on about ?

Neonridr2490d ago

@Onenyte - follow along

GT3 - 15 Million
GT4 - 11.5 Million
GT5 - 10.5 Million
GT6 - 3.5 Million

GT6 was released when there was a good 75-80 million PS3's out there. Doesn't matter that the PS4 was released at a similar time. Sales have been on the decrease with every iteration.

I never said that the games don't still sell well, you are mistaking my facts as some sort of defense here. Merely pointing out that Gran Turismo sales have gone down with each release. Maybe that will change with GT Sport, maybe not.

Knushwood Butt2490d ago (Edited 2490d ago )

Forza 5 sold 2.3 mil on Xone.

Forza 6 sold 1.9 mil on Xone with a larger install base...

Neonridr2490d ago

@Knushwood Butt - yep, sales for Forza are going down too. Again, was never disputing that. Still an attachment rate of like 10% at the time of release, not terrible I guess.

P_Bomb2490d ago (Edited 2490d ago )

Neon your GT5/GT6 numbers are off by a couple million. Here's a link from a year ago http://www.teamvvv.com/en/n...

Ummm Forza Horizon 3 has been tearing up the charts since release. It still posts in the top 10 every month in the UK...the games legs is unbelievable.

timotim2490d ago (Edited 2490d ago )

Here's proof just recently haha
https://mspoweruser.com/for...

FH3 is this generation's highest selling racer thus far though MK8 is nipping at it's heels.

zielocz3k2490d ago

good sales considering it did not had any marketing campaign and its just a remastered niche game.

eferreira2490d ago

Got mine. 2048 is so much faster than the original and the expansion

5 Best PSVR Games That Need PSVR 2 Ports

Alongside big hitters like Horizon Call of the Mountain, Gran Turismo 7 and Resident Evil Village, PSVR 2 is already home to some of the best PSVR games and experiences, like Moss and Tetris Effect. Better yet, some ports like Job Simulator, Song in The Smoke and Pistol Whip offer free cross-generation upgrades if you bought them for the original PSVR.

There are many PSVR titles we’d love to see leap onto PlayStation VR2. Here's our pick.

True indeed. Great picks. I'd also like Raw Data remastered, LA Noire, Iron Man, Arch Angel, Mortal Blitz and many others. We'll see what gets ported over time.

SullysCigar440d ago

There are so many that would benefit from a PSVR2 facelift with all the bells and whistles.

To add to your list, I'd also like: Hitman 1-3, Xing: The Land Beyond, The Room: VR, Red Matter, Farpoint, Until Dawn: Rush of Blood, The Persistence, To the Top, Until You Fall, Arashi: Castles of Sin, Sniper Elite VR, Fracked, Dreams - I'm sure there are loads I've forgotten!

IAMTHEVOID440d ago

To add a sixth game to that list I need on ps vr2 is Vader Immortal

Abnor_Mal440d ago

Did anyone ever play Robinson: The Journey?

Oh and to add to the list I’d definitely put Bravo Team up for porting to PS5. I don’t understand why that game got so much flak when the only problem was the camera zooming out from first to third person when you had to move locations.

Other ports I would like to see wake its way over at some point would be DWVR, Immortsl Legacy, The Mages Tale, Killing Floor Incursion. Never played although I know I own them Unearthing Mars1/2 and Budget Cuts. Doom and Skyrim VR I’m not holding my breath on but would be nice.

EverydayJoe439d ago

I did. Was a beautiful game for its time.

MIDGETonSTILTS17440d ago (Edited 440d ago )

I would just add SUPERHOT.

Great list otherwise.

I’d easily pay $10 for an upgrade for any of these games, or full price for a vr2 version if I don’t own it yet.

Idc if the games are brand new, just as long as they work for my new headset.

Please update and take my money, devs 💰

Six racing games we'd love to play on PSVR2

Since we recently tried out Gran Turismo 7 on the PSVR2, it had us at Traxion.GG wondering what other racing titles might be just as intoxicating on this epic piece of hardware.

Here's a video discussing the games we'd like to see and our thoughts on the chances of a PSVR2 version for each of them.

Profchaos454d ago

I know it's never going to happen but a midnight club LA remaster with psvr2 support would be very high on my list along with NFS underground 1/2.

I wish I could play wipeout in VR but that was the only game I really struggled with motion sickness on.

ApocalypseShadow454d ago

I'd like Motor Storm, Tourist Trophy, Pod Racer, NFS Hot Pursuit 2, F355 Challenge and Mod Nation Racers. Just to start. Could use a lot more over the years.

Abnor_Mal454d ago

While I have no problem with circuit racers,, I would prefer more open world driving/racing games in vr.

Living cities with real traffic with drivers obeying road rules for the most part. Stopping for red lights, yielding for merging traffic and traffic jams.

I use to love just driving around in Midnight Club LA listening to the radio and using my Logitech wheel. I still do the same in the Crew1/2 but it’s not the same.

I’d also like to drive through GTA5s Los Santos in first person in vr but that’s not going to happen with a wheel on PS5.
