Crash Team Racing and Crash Bash
Spyro Trilogy
Crash Bandicoot 4

Only problem I have with a brand new game in general is it will be their first time doing it from scratch...I mean the remake is great but they were just copying the levels already made years ago, updating them. Will they actually be able to pull it off? I still get gobsmacked when I load up the game and see an Activision logo..."Oh my god...I've actually bought an Activision game"

"this could be a real challenger to Mario Kart’s huge popularity"

The one thing CTR will always have over Mario Kart is how they structured the single player. It actually has a story and the hub is fantastic...something Mario Kart has never done despite being around so long. I just don't see why Nintendo have never decided to change it up and evolve Mario Kart more then just doing bite sized improvements. You have the entire Mushroom Kingdom to drive around in Nintendo, don't waste that. Driving around a huge hub travelling to your missions while finding any little Easter eggs or unlockable goodies in the hub is better then just selecting a Cup/track on the main menu.

EddieNX 2507d ago

While I agree a Mario Kart hub could work, it could also just feel tacked on. Lets not take anything away from MK8 deluxe, the game is as near to perfect as you can get, its hard to imagine a better Kart racing game.

naruga2507d ago (Edited 2507d ago )

CTR back then was millions better game than any contemporary kart game that only got equal 20 years later with the very good Mario Kart 8 which even copied elements from CTR to become that perfect kart game ..

Now about Activision i dont even fing care what they plan to do with Crash . the remake was sloppy made and they have not by any mean the talent to developp a sequel ....also im not buying Activision games by default n matter the qualiy

The 10th Rider2507d ago (Edited 2507d ago )

Eh, if there's certainly ways Mario Kart 8 Deluxe could be improved. It's easily the best Mario Kart yet and easily has the best racing of any kart game out there, but to be memorable it needs to do something to stand out from its predecessors. A better single player mode would be a great next step and a hub would be a fantastic way to do that.

-Foxtrot2507d ago

What did it really add though compared to last Mario Kart games?

Prettier Graphics
Some newish characters
New Karts
New Maps
One or two new items

The standard stuff really. The only big change for this, like the games new "thing" to make it pop was the anti gravity element like how Double Dash had two characters in one Kart or the Wii had the motion controls. It was still Mario Kart at the end of the day, the problem is they don't add enough.

They removed old characters
They made it easier to unlock them, hell you just had to win anything and they were yours
Most characters like the Koopa Kids were roughly the same or Rose Peach/Silver Mario
Battle Mode was pathetic

"it could also just feel tacked on"

Again...Battle Mode, that felt so tacked on. Like "we've ran out of time...quickly just take a map from the Cup mode and change some things here and there" tacked on.

bouzebbal2507d ago

You have no clue how complex CTR was.
it had a super fun story mode which MK has always been missing.
I do like MK but 8 felt kinda old to me . It is always the same recipe with same speed categories same weapons same cup names...
My favorite MK game is double dash. At least every character had his own super move or special weapons others cannot get.

EddieNX 2507d ago

Nah, MK8 is the best Kart Racer ever made by a country mile and it will hold that crown until the next MK or a different kart racer. MK64 was better than CTR and thats the general opinion.

Servbot412507d ago (Edited 2507d ago )

Diddy Kong Racing and Sonic and Sega All Stars Racing Transformed are better than MK8. As is Crash Team Racing. All MK8 has going for it is its "modern" online capabilities.

notachance2507d ago (Edited 2507d ago )

wtf fanboy, I've played MK8 to its fullest and CTR is still more fun

I'm a nintendo fan too, but if we're talking about CTR here, you shut the f*ck up alright? I kept silent about your BS nintendo fanboy on other posts but not on CTR bruh, you shut up.

EddieNX 2507d ago

Sorry I forgot I was in a comment section full of Sony Pony's. CTR better than Mario Kart, I mean IT LITTERALY ISN'T but whatever lol.

notachance2507d ago (Edited 2507d ago )

?
want to compare games from the same era??

Mario Kart 64 : metacritic 83
Crash Team Racing : metacritic 88

not to mention it has proper and fun story mode AND battle mode, way back in the PS1 era.
and like I said, I PLAYED MK8 TO ITS FULLEST, already unlocked the damn golden mario so I know what I'm talking about.

but hey, whatever float your fanboy boat. You keep that delusion that everyone here's a sony pony alright? else you might get depressed when you realized it's really you that's a blind fanboy.

Crash Bandicoot 4 is the Wrath of Cortex and Crash Bandicoot 5 is Twinsanity in Japan. xD
CTR and Crash Bash are no brainers for Activision, and so is Spyro Trilogy. I think we'll see all of them in the future. In general, I'm really glad this is going well. Crash Bandicoot is my favorite character/games so I'd love to see more of it without being on the Crash of the Titans / Mind over Mutant universe.

andrewsquall2507d ago

@-Foxtrot Haha I agree. My Crash N Sane Trilogy copied arrived today and when I fired it up I was gobsmacked by the Activision logo. Now THERE is something I haven't seen in 10 years since Call of Duty 4 lol.
Still, on a positive note, I've now seen the Activision logo, in a game I am actually playing, more times this gen than the EA one.

TWB2507d ago

I would also largely question what Crash 4 should be like. If its essentially like a "fan game" doing the same thing with slight improvements, it sure could be fun but not much of a sequel. Based on what Naughty Dog/Mark Cerny has said, Jak and Daxter was basically built on the "blueprint" of their idea for a next gen Crash. If Vicarious Visions goes that route, they have to improvise and come up with even more original ideas.

fr0sty2507d ago

I just hope they improve that awful art direction. Crash looks like he ate a lot of paint chips as a kid with his new look.

Servbot412507d ago

Man Crash Team Racing would be the best.

DanteVFenris6662507d ago

Kinda like Diddey Kong racing which is my fav but I had tons of favs before rares bought out

wheresmymonkey2507d ago

Uhhh. Crash went on for years after the ps1 trilogy. The last one was crash of the titans on 360/ps3/wii. Was ait pretty good game

TheOttomatic912507d ago

I agree with you for the most part but Crash Bash? No thanks.

Platformgamer2507d ago

Wrath of cortex/N. Tranced/Twinsanity <3
I hope it happens

ccgr2508d ago

Another series I have yet to play...

BadElf2507d ago

I tried it back then. But only a little bit at a buds house. But I just had a BETTER childhood....I played Banjo Kazooie and Goldeneye on N64.

Xbox President Sarah Bond's Bloomberg Interview Is Corporate Fakery At Its Best

Saad from eXputer: "After Arkane Austin & Tango were shutdown, Xbox President Sarah Bond spoke with Bloomberg in what I believe to be utter corporate fakery."

gold_drake1d ago

im not really surprised by that, shes always been more a "let me talk about something else than what u want to know" kinda gal

Cacabunga16h ago

If what they are doing is that good, what’s the point of hiding the true story?

anast21h ago

She's a caricature of the shareholders.

PRIMORDUS19h ago

"Shareholders" I call them cancer, they are already rich to begin with but need more and more. It's like a disease, with no cure.

__y2jb3h ago

If you have a pension then you are likely to be a shareholder in these big tech companies yourself. To demonize them as 'heartless rich people' shows you have no idea what you're talking about.

anast1h ago(Edited 1h ago)

@Y2

Of course, it isn't about that. You are attempting to set up a self-righteous strawman to stir up some kind of ignorant mob mentality.

And by the way, most everyone is a touch heartless or we wouldn't be able to consume the products we do knowing very well how they are made. People have to be this way because of self-preservation and convenience.

Leeroyw16h ago

I own shares in game companies. I'm not anything near a major share holder. I just want them to make good games and be successful because of that. I think it's the senior management that's the problem. They are the ones that should be making it clear to the shareholders what creates growth and ensures a future of their business. Not this weasle words garbage that she did on the interview. It was horrific. I don't know a shareholder that would be happy with any of them for this.

Profchaos15h ago(Edited 15h ago)

Same and I'm not rich by any stretch like most people's I'm just trying to keep my head above water these days most company's shareholders are made up of everyday people it's amazing how companies think we want something but the reality is we don't.

Disney are probably the worse at the moment it's shareholders voted on ending a lot of the crap and outing the current execs the execs turned around and said no we disagree with the shareholder vote

PRIMORDUS11h ago

I meant at the rich fucks who have millions in the bank already. They are making so much per year, that if they don't make what they are expecting they go into a panic, when in reality it will not even hurt them at all. Those are greedy assholes.

anast2h ago

"you have a pension then you are likely to be a shareholder"

Pensioners don't make any decisions about anything. Obviously that is not what this is about.

CrimsonWing6921h ago

Yea, it was and it’s insulting that they think we’re dumb enough to fall for this. Look, the truth was you took a gamble on these studios and while they released some games to critical praise and great reception they just aren’t bringing in a ROI. Be transparent, you’re not a politician.

Just tell everyone you spend money on projects big and small and when money isn’t being made you go over the potential of revenue a studio can bring in vs those that can’t and make the hard decision to chop them.

She says this whole thing about “success” doesn’t fit one meaning for each studio. Well yea, a small budget production isn’t going to expect to sell the same as a large budget production.

One thing I wish they did though was let Tango be an independent studio.

TheGamingHounds20h ago

disheartening to see no regard for the human cost of business anymore
the bad decisions and judgements of these CEOs severely impact the frontliners
these fake responses are just salt on wounds

RoadRacer20h ago

imagine havin the audacity to say "we need more games like hifi rush" right after closing the studio that made it lol
followin up with this show of "deflecting every question" was in poor taste

Alot’s changed in 25 years. We have games with $300 mill budgets, people not interested in games other than Fortnite and Minecraft, the older generation of gamers giving up the hobby or dying off, a period of super bad inflation where the industry decided to hike up prices on games, Gamepass harming game sales, GaaS games being pushed left and right with obnoxious monetization and worse looking/playing (Suicide Squad vs Arkham Knight).

The industry is just shite right now. Games ain’t selling, games cost massive amounts, businesses can’t bleed money and this is what happens. Part of it is on them and part of it is on consumers not buying.

Yi-Long10h ago

Consumers ain't buying because of what they're selling; There is no new SSX or Burnout, everything is now Online Required, everything is 'service', etc.

Indies are still delivering the goods, perhaps even better than ever, because those are often the guys and gals who know what they want to make and just make that and hopefully we dig it as well and support it ...

... but when you look at those multi-million budget AAA games, are they improving on what we have had before? Is the new Forza Motorsport better than a Forza Mototsport 4? Is Halo Infinite better than Halo 3? Is Dragon Age 2 such a huge improvement over the first Dragon Age? Etcetc.

Yeah, graphics have gotten better, worlds have gotten better, but I think a gaming generations stands or falls with diversity and experiences, and a few gens ago we had access to whatever we wanted, so if we wanted a boxing game we picked up one of the boxing games, if we wanted snowboarding we'd pick up one of the snowboarding games, if we wanted to do a rythm game we had DJ Hero, or Guitar Hero, or Rockband. If we wanted to sneak around we had Splinter Cell or MGS or whatever.

We had variety and we had options, and that makes or breaks a generation, imo. You're in a foodcourt of games and they're serving all kinds of different cuisines, and so you'd pick and choose whatever you felt like that day.

Right now, you're in a restaurant, and you're only allowed to pick from one menu, and there's a dress-code, and you have to register, and you have to stay in your seat, etc etc.
