Casual Review writes: "Yard Sale Hidden Treasures takes the extra leap from finding hidden objects to do-it-yourself home decoration, and is far more satisfying to play as a result. What's more, the theme of searching through junk for valuable treasure has been taken to its logical conclusion: yard sales!
You're a new resident in the quirky town of Sunnyville, where everyone (except you) has a themed home of some sort, be it a haunted house, ancient Roman villa, '50s-style motor home or circus. Fortunately, it seems like all the other homes are having yard sales, which is good news for you. You've got to pick through the heaps of junk for useful hidden treasures to decorate your home with. If you do a good enough job, you might just beat your snobby neighbor in the Superstar Homes Magazine Contest!"
From the article:
"The genre of hidden object games usually seems to leave a bad taste in many people’s mouths, but for the most part, I tend to enjoy them. Having grown up with I Spy and Where’s Waldo? books as a kid, it is a natural and enjoyable experience for me. I agree that these games are overdone and bled dry (and many are just plain boring), but there are some real gems out there, so I am always willing to give one a chance, especially when it is made available for the Wii."
It's always nice to find, as you put it, hidden treasures, particularly when they're a little less financially damaging than AAA games. Sadly, most of these aren't really to my taste.
Oh god, bejeweled. I was so addicted to that, even to the point of downloading it for WoW so I could play it on flightpaths, waiting for randoms, etc., and I started to play the damn game more than WoW itself!
Overall, though, the game is thoroughly enjoyable and oozes charm and creativity. Not only is it a fun hidden object romp, but the home improvement sections of the game actually contain some pretty useful project ideas that you could easily duplicate in your own home if you're handy with tools and a paintbrush.
