Well hopefully all that work and effort pays off when this game finally releases. Super excited to give this a go.

cleft52511d ago

Yeah, I really hope the game is a major hit for them. That is a big risk they took.

darthv722511d ago

This game reminds me of this clip from the twilight zone movie...

Bnet3432511d ago

I think it'll be good. I will be getting it. It looks like Microsoft are backing it up as a major title. We'll see. Love the art style.

BadElf2511d ago

It's gotta be a hit. Everything about it just looks....awesome.

madpuppy2510d ago (Edited 2510d ago )

It's actually more in common with this 1935 cartoon.

4Sh0w2510d ago

Well as soon as it drops they got my money.

DragonKnight2510d ago

How unfortunate for them. And putting it as an Xbox exclusive is even more unfortunate when you think about it from a purely financial perspective.

While perhaps they may have only had the funds to make one version, their game would have likely had a greater chance of success on the PS4.

nix2510d ago

Only sad thing is they decided to go ahead with Xbox community. They are notorious for letting new IP die. People are not going to buy Xbox only to play this game. I hope it's also on PC.

Buy this game, dear xboxers.

4Sh0w2510d ago (Edited 2510d ago )

DragonKnight, nix,

-WRONG=

There's really no reason from a financial perspective Cuphead can be wrong here since it's available on Xbox AND>>>> PC. Wa-La!... you see no need to hope it's on pc, all you have to do is read about the games you comment on, then you can make intelligent *informed comments.

Literally pc alone gives more access to this game than ps4 ever could, so with the game on a console and pc thats plenty install base to sell to....PLUS since we know on n4g all ps4 gamers have a gaming pc too, well Welcome to the party ps4 gamers, its a win, win, we all get to play this beauty.

UltraNova2510d ago

It looks unique and interesting. I hope it turns out great and sells a shit ton of copies.

Skull5212510d ago

Lol as a Microsoft gamer I'd love to say I'd buy the game but I got in on gaming on N64, this game doesn't interest me at all but good luck guys. Platformers do nothing for me.

DragonKnight2510d ago

@4Sh0w: I'm talking about consoles here bud. It's funny how PC is either something to consider, or not important at all, depending on whether or not the game is also on the PS4.

The PS4 has sold pretty much double what the Xbox One has sold. In terms of available audience on consoles, the PS4 is clearly the most logical choice for doing business.

But because that makes your favourite console look weak, you then shift to "well it's also on PC which has an even bigger audience" as if that in any way helps the developers be successful on consoles.

Here's a thought for you. The developers could have made the game PC exclusive and you wouldn't have access to it at all via Xbox. It would help them make more money since it's easier to develop on PC and they wouldn't have to worry about the funds needed to also make a console version. They could also cut out the MS middle man in the process.

Since you love PC gaming, and love talking about PC gaming, I bet that would be the best case scenario for you right? Not having the game on the Xbox so the devs can spend less on development? Right?

agent45322506d ago

Agreed to quit your job and refinance your house that's a huge risk for it may fail. I hope this game is successful and their high risk leads to a nice reward

It should have been a multiplatform game even on Nintendo Switch to make more profits especially if they lost their home. Hope it works out for them. Getting it for PC

vallencer2511d ago

They didn't lose their home . They just remortgaged it. Still isn't an ideal thing to have to do but I'm glad they did. The game looks great!

SmielmaN2511d ago

I agree. If finances are a big thing for these guys why sign exclusively at all?

freshslicepizza2511d ago

@MegamanXXX
"It should have been a multiplatform game even on Nintendo Switch to make more profits especially if they lost their home. Hope it works out for them. Getting it for PC"

It should do well considering so many here say they don't need an Xbox because MS puts their games on the PC now. I will support it on the PC too.

JackBNimble2510d ago

Hvaguy
Ya so ironic.. You're grasping at a whole lot of nothing.

LOGICWINS2510d ago

According to Geoff Keighley, Cuphead is a times exclusive. He said this in an interview with Pachter. I think he misspoke though.

Dirtnapstor2510d ago (Edited 2510d ago )

@hvaguy
I think what Mega is implying is that the Cuphead developers have gambled quite a bit on banking on the smallest install base of the three consoles entities for their success. They would have most certainly made bank with the other two platforms added no doubt.
It looks like an incredible game. Indeed I wish it were headed to the PS platform, but oh well... if I want it that bad, I will invest in an Xbone again. For now, Xboners enjoy!
I hope MS takes care of these guys and they hadn't signed off on their pink slips already.

VforVideogames2510d ago

cant wait till I play this on my ps4 pro.

modelgod2510d ago

We don't need your backhanded comment. Multiplat, and your getting it on PC. MS gets no lover huh? Cornball! !

frostypants2510d ago

Why do people think they lost their homes? It doesn't say that anywhere.

agent45322506d ago

They refinance their home not lost it; however, they quit their jobs to make this game so hopefully it does pay off.

Testfire2511d ago

I hope it works out for them, I really love the style of the game. I hope it comes to PC though as I'm not willing to buy an X1 for it.

Seafort2511d ago

It's been coming to PC from the beginning and on steam as well as the devs are self publishing the game on PC.

Microsoft have nothing to do with the game on PC.

I'll definitely be getting the game on PC when it's released. Can't wait :)

timotim2510d ago

@Seafort

"Microsoft have nothing to do with the game on PC."

While its true that the game is also coming to Steam, Microsoft does in fact have something to do with it on PC. The game is also a Play Anywhere title, and will be sold in theWindows Store. In fact, you can pre-order the PA version right now. All who purchase the game on Xbox consoles can also play it on there PCs too and MS will get a percentage of everyone who purchases it through there store...including on PC.

Ill buy it because it looks awesome.

Relientk772511d ago

Damn I hope it's all worth it for the developers

You think Microsoft could have thrown them a bone...

BigWan782511d ago

@Relientk77

Microsoft did throw them a bone... that has already been documented...

Phil was so amazed by what he initially saw in CupHead that the game was delayed, and Microsoft funded to expand the game.

ShottyatLaw2511d ago

From last year:

"We know we said that Cuphead would be out in 2015 and now we’re saying that Cuphead will be out in 2016. We’re sorry. But this Cuphead isn’t that Cuphead. This Cuphead is so much better. With Microsoft helping us out, we are able to push the art further, refine the mechanics more, and deliver the Cuphead game we’ve always dreamed of."

P_Bomb2511d ago

That's what I like to hear. Good on MS for seeing their sacrifice and dropping some bills on 'em to help see their vision through.

2511d ago
SmielmaN2511d ago

Oh well good for them then. Hope it works out!

slate912511d ago

I hope you said the same thing about Sony when the Hell Blade devs released a video showing them making their own equipment xD

vega2752511d ago (Edited 2511d ago )

Nah they wouldn't. Because it would go against their narrative that sony does no wrong and MS want to destroy gaming.

As you see he hasn't responded back to any of the comment that MS help them.

Liqu1d2511d ago

Hellblade has nothing to do with Sony. It is funded and self published by Ninja Theory and will be released on PC & PS4, it might even release on Xbox if it does well.

Gazondaily2511d ago

Aren't you now glad that MS helped them ? 😁

subtenko2511d ago (Edited 2511d ago )

they did, its called the xbone x

Gwiz2511d ago

They did Xbone :P *I'll show myself out*

Hopefully it works out for them.

4Sh0w2510d ago (Edited 2510d ago )

Well it looks great and it's available on Xbox and PC, thats a huge install base that it's available to....I showed a couple casual gamer friends at work none of them had ever even heard of it. I think it will it will be very successful with a better marketing campaign because its totally different from everything else -and Ive never heard a bad word about it from anyone who's seen the game.

ninsigma2511d ago

God damn that's some dedication! Hopefully they get the results they want.

Nintendo confirms its commitment to physical games

In an era dominated by digital downloads and streaming services, the importance of physical media in gaming remains a topic of discussion.

mynintendonews.com
Chocoburger17h ago

Of course, Nintendo has always preferred physical sales, especially since they skew to a younger audience, and kids want games for their birthdays and holidays. They go to the store and pick the game they want.

Since the Wii they have always been the last major publisher to support modern tech or concepts, and they will be the last to support physical if it ever goes away. Which I hope it doesn't.

darthv723h ago

Nintendo just likes sales in general. If they can sell digital more, they would because the 2nd hand market they do not get a cut of. For me, i tend to buy more physical switch games than I do other platforms. I do have my fair share of digital deals from the eshop though. Especially if its something that i have a sealed physical copy of and dont want to reduce its value.

Cacabunga3h ago

Then I know for sure who I will be supporting

neutralgamer19923h ago

OK, but you need better format where these games could actually fit instead of half of the game being in physical form and all I have being on a digital code or have to download

Hofstaderman3h ago

The one caveat with cartridges. If the leaks are true the internal storage stands at 256gb plus SD card support too.

franwex21m ago

You could have a 256gb card and a 10gb card. Publishers will simply use the 10gb one and make you download the rest.

Inverno3h ago

There are cards that can fit all of a game but those cost more, and publishers are cheap. It's weird cause with how much the switch has sold and how long it's been on the market the costs to manufacture these cards should've been much lower by now. It's a publisher issue cause there has only been very few exceptions on PS and Xbox, rest of the industry would rather force a download despite Blu-ray being cheap.

shinoff21832h ago

Your right. It's definitely a publisher issue. From my time collecting that's what I've come across. Just always remember

Doesitplay.org

Tell you everything you need to know about releases.

Flakegriffin12m ago

Pretty sure most, if not all, of Nintendo first party titles are all on cartridge. It’s the third parties.

ActualWhiteMan3h ago

Yeah it artificially retains the high prices for their software. Hence Pirates will always have their day with them.
